It will take a comprehensiveVISION
• It will take a business plan• It will take a serious
commitment on the part of the Board of Directors to see it through with the CEO
• It will take volunteers• It will take hard work• It will take tenacity
• It will take a lot of prayer
• It will take a leader that knows what, why, how and…
• It will take God bringing someone to you that He prepared to help you go to the position that He is calling you to be atIT WILL TAKE A DEVELOPMENT!
What is Development?
• Is it just about asking for money for your organization?
• Is it just about reaching financial benchmarks?• If it is not just that, what else is it?• What is the perception of this by your Board of
Directors?• What is the perception of this by the Lead
Pastor/CEO and employees/volunteers/church members/constituents?
TRUE IT DOES TAKE MONEY
• But, IT IS NOT ALL ABOUT MONEY!• The Development person works throughout the
organization ensuring the entire organization is fully functioning at its Best Practice position
• Why? No one wants to give money to a broken down sinking ship! So, internal capacity building is key to successful development
• Develop the Board, develop the organization, fix all the frames within it, develop communications, and develop the constituencies.
HOW?
• Training• Celebrating and building on the strengths and hard
work of the past we need to take the organization to the point of full health!
• LEADERSHIP INFUSION– Who? The person God has called, equipped and “prepared
for such a time as this.”– If that is true, and valued then will this be someone that only
knows fundraising development? Or, will it be someone that is also a minister and also a manager/leader that has worked at all levels of nonprofits?
What has God already prepared for your ministry organization?
• Resources of knowledge regarding fundraising are not readily taught at bible colleges in the USA, so will you then settle for the poorly trained or untrained (on the job learner) that just loves Jesus and people?
• Can you afford to wait while they learn on your dollar?• Most minister’s don’t know this industry, so unless God
specifically called someone into this, you either settle for a person that only knows development or you pray that a miracle took place about 3-5 years ago and someone was fully obedient to that call to prepare…
• However it will NOT be a slam dunk to receive everything God has prepared…– There is a cost to having someone with the skill because it cost to
learn the skill.– Whenever someone new is brought into the team CHANGE
HAPPENS.
God has prepared someone…
What did it cost to learn the skills?
• Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Exposition$7,500 per year X 4+ years = $30,000 (estimating low)
• Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministries$7,500 per year X 4+ years = $30,000 (estimating low)
• Master of Arts in Philanthropy and Development$10,000 per year X 3+ years = 30,000
TOTAL: $90,000plus 11+ years of adult life
“Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,” and “The worker deserves his wages.”
1 Timothy 5:18
“A laboreris worthy
of his hire”- Jesus (Luke 10:7)
Let’s look at the benefits that God wants to provide in order that His ministry here with
you can grow and succeed:
• A Development Director with Ministry skills• A Development Department that is functioning• What will that look like?– Proper Stewardship of Donors– Prayerful Strategic Relationships for the Good of
Your Ministry Organization and Your Constituents.– Your Ministry Team will be able to afford to grow!
• A Ministry Team Support System…

Is Your Ministry
Team about
family? My wife worked beside me for 12 years in the ministry and we would absolutely love it if she could serve in some ministry capacity again. She loves organizing special events. She is a minister in her own right and a Recreational Therapist by trade. My daughter Amanda and my son Michael like to help with the kids in the Children’s Church. They also like to help lead Summer Day Camps.

Crafts for all ages were secured through Oriental Trading that fit the theme of outer space, aliens, and rocket ships. Every age group was involved and really had fun. Kids were led to Christ and the church grew substantially.

Somewhere in the midst of praying regularly, seeking God’s face intentionally, working really hard obediently, studying diligently, and loving people as God said we should, God would meet us and give us His anointing. He would bring revival and souls were saved and added to the Kingdom of God. Believers were nurtured and discipling was happening.
GOD WAS FAITHFUL
in every way!
These two stacks of money represented here was from one fundraising site. There was over $43,000 given in $100.00 bills anonymously between just the two Salvation Army Red Kettles at that site in one day. This brought us over the annual fundraising goal by $20,000.00 and was the second year in a row that someone did this. God bless them!
God pricks the hearts of the people in the kingdoms of this world to pour into His ministries a bountiful provision. Everything that is needed to do what God calls His people to do is available.
“Ask and you shall receive.” - Jesus
