ROCKgarden Party! Musical Theater Jam Charlie Kert Open to students in Grades 1 to 4 Wednesdays: 11:40 – 12:40 Dates: October 9, 16, 23, 30 November 6, 13, 20, 27, December 4 Performance Day: December 11 Location: Library Cost: $200 for 10 sessions and the performance day Cheques are to be made to “Little Fingers Music” Storyline: Garden creatures try to end a drought by playing musical games. Through these games they experience personal growth and learn to see the spiritual side of the garden and the value of working together. Description: ROCKgarden Party! is an interactive, fun and educational series of theatrical/musical workshops geared towards a live performance. The workshops are based on the live touring show (Ontario and Michigan) designed by Charlie Kert, and has been reviewed well at both the Toronto and Hamilton Fringe Festivals (see website). This unique program teaches the children how to sing, act, dance, drum and gain an appreciation for the natural world. Each child receives a chance to perform dialogue as well as sing in the chorus. For the final performance (running time: 25 minutes), students will have access to all of Charlie’s props, costumes, backdrops and music. The course runs for 10 weeks and can accommodate up to 25 students. Charlie will act as the musical director and will work alongside theatrical director Alexsandra Marzocca.
