Snow Issue
2 rockymountainbride.com Rocky Mountain Bride
Seasons Greetings! We are beyond thrilled to bring you the first RMB Snow Issue. We are smitten with snow! From snow days, to celebrating the holidays, and all the hot cocoa in-between, I fall in love with this season again and again each year. Wintertime in the Rockies is one of the most romatic places to be. Cozy fires, starlit snowflakes, frosted aspens, and family - it’s hard to top! Embrace the season and design your wedding around snow. I love a bride in boots wrapped in a fabulous fur with snowflakes in her hair. I love s’mores for dessert, guests in cozy scarfs, and Hot Toddies as a sweet treat. I love the images of ceremonies with a frosted white backdrop of snow covered Rockies while the couple beam with love and excitment. There’s just so much to love about a snowy “I Do!”
This Snow Issue is your guide to winter weddings in the Rockies. Each state has their own beautiful and unique style. From Lake Louise to Santa Fe, there is something special waiting for you. I invite you to become a Rocky Mountain Bride, explore our Rockies and find your perfect place for your wedding day!
Happy Planning!

“The mountains are calling and I must go”
-John Muir
What is it about the mountains that keeps you coming back? Misty morning mountaintops, bright green pines, and the alpenglow creat-ed by the setting sun make us fall in love with this place each day. The blush blooms of the cherry trees in the spring, fields of wildflowers in summer, the golden glow of the aspens in the fall, and the pure white sparkle of winter captivate us year round to inspire brides to get married here.
Let your destination be just as grand as your wedding! Here at Rocky Mountain Bride, we are motivated by our backyard to create bold and breathtaking wedding inspiration for all brides looking to capture the raw beauty of the Rockies. As John Muir said it,“The mountains are calling and we must go.” Welcome to Rocky Mountain Bride.

Katie & Chip Vail
3.1.2014
Real Wedding
Katie and Chip met while working in New York City and it was love at first sight! The two moved to Boston, where Chip pro-
posed to Katie on a lovely Sunday morning in their home. These two East coasters
wanted to plan a snowy winter wedding in Colorado for them and their guests to enjoy. From a winter advisory storm warning, to a gorgeous candlelit dinner, and all the love in between, Katie and Chip had the best day
becoming Mr. and Mrs.
the theme: Katie didn’t start with a special theme for her wedding, but it ended up being a vintage glam Après-ski look!
the colors: The palette for their wedding day was gray, blush, and white.
the flowers: When it came to flowers, Katie let Vintage Magnolia work their magic and the outcome was gorgeous!
the dress: Katie chose a textured a-line Matthew Christopher gown that she absolutely loved!
the fAvorite detAil: “The K&C shoe bags! Since the reception was at the top of the gondola, guests wore their snow boots and changed into their dress shoes once up at The 10th. It was so cute to see everyone walking around with their shoe bags.”
mr. And mrs. moment: “Every Moment!”
12 rockymountainbride.com Rocky Mountain Bride
the sweets: Katie and Chip had fun with their dessert. They chose a Funfetti cake to serve to their guests - a true favorite!
the food: The couple decided to serve all their favorite comfort foods, including some fantastic finger-lickin’ short ribs!
the first dAnce: The newlyweds danced to “Wagon Wheel” by Old Crow Medicine Show - it’s always been their song.
the honeymoon: Katie and Chip had a mini-moon in St. Lucia right after the wedding and then went to South Africa for a safari during the summer. Katie tells us that honeymoons are definitely not overrated and they had the best time together!
Advice for rmb brides: “Just go with the flow and don’t let a little ‘winter storm warning’ get you down!”

Heidi & Marc Sun Valley
3.24.2012 When love is meant to be, you just know.
That’s exactly how Heidi and Mark felt after they met. Soon after, Marc proposed to her while rock climbing on a gorgeous fall day.
A little over a year after meeting, these two adventurous souls said “I Do” on top of
Dollar Mountain, and skied down the slopes in marital bliss.Talk about a grand exit! Their wedding day was a perfect representation of who they are together and what they
love to do.
Real Wedding
the theme: The couple chose a wedding theme of “mountain vintage” for their day. Her palette was forget-me-not blue and saffron orange.
the dress: Heidi didn’t want to wear a traditional wedding gown, and since she was planning a fabulous slope ceremony, she had a local women knit her a dress she could ski in!
the flowers: Heidi chose a bouquet filled with ranculus and greenery for her tables and decor.
the fAvorite detAil: “After the ceremony skiing down the aisle of ski poles and ribbon with all our friends and family cheering.”
rockymountainbride.com 19Rocky Mountain Bride
mr. And mrs. moment: “Dancing our first dance. We’d taken lessons and had so much fun putting the moves together with the song.”
the sweets: The couple chose to serve cake pops and cupcakes as a sweet treat for guests. Heidi has always loved cupcakes and cake pops and these were an even more delicious version!
the food: Heidi tells us that Chef Laura at Elkhorn Springs did a fabulous job with the meal. Guests enjoyed assorted passed appetizers then a buffet, which included salmon that even wowed Heidi’s aunt from Alaska who said it was the best she ever had!
the honeymoon: The two had a mini-moon in Maui after the wedding, then spent the summer exploring Europe in their motor home.
Advice for rmb brides: “A wedding planner is a must. Even if it’s just for the Day-Of. You don’t want your friends or family “working” on your wedding day!”

Jackie & Kyle Big Sky
4.5.2014
Jackie and Kyle met in high school and have been together ever since! While on vacation in Vegas, Kyle proposed to Jackie. She was rushing around
trying to get ready and while deciding on her out-fit, Kyle got on one knee behind her and said “Well whatever you decide to wear, wear something that
will match this.” She turned around to find the love of her life holding a gorgeous ring. These two High School sweethearts decided to have a snowy Big Sky wedding.Through the years of visiting and skiing at Big Sky, it became their special place, so
why not add their wedding to the list of memories made at Big Sky?
Real Wedding
the theme: Jackie and Kyle chose “Early Spring Meets a Montana Winter” as their wedding theme. They used varying shades of maroons, mauves, plums, frosty silvers and golds, and light pinks that played perfectly against the rustic charm of The Huntley Lodge.
the dress: Jackie chose the Ofelia A-Line gown from the Enzoani Blue collection. She fell in love with the dramatic tulle skirt, and had the dress customized to have a sweetheart neckline and lower back.
the flowers: Jackie let the florist, Jim Gainan of Gainan’s Flower Shop, bring her vision to life. She told him the colors and her vision, and he brought it to life. He used lush roses, calla lilies, babies breath, and branches to create the perfect look!
the fAvorite detAil: “My wedding hair turned out better than I could have dreamed. I made the hair piece myself, and will pass it down as a memento for my future daughter one day. Also, our rehearsal dinner (which we dubbed Groom’s Dinner since we only had family as our wedding party, but invited many people to this dinner) at The Yellowstone Club was extremely special to me.” Jackie also gifted her sisters gold necklaces made from her deceased father’s wedding band that held so much meaning to all of them.
26 rockymountainbride.com Rocky Mountain Bride
mr. + mrs. moment: “Formally being announced as Mr. and Mrs. Ryan during our grand entrance to the reception. Everyone cheered and clapped. The moment felt genuine and elated.”
the sweets: Jackie and Kyle chose chocolate cake with white frosting, that was “spectacular!”
the food: At cocktail hour guests enjoyed meatballs, stuffed mushrooms, and chicken skewers. For dinner, a hearty Montana buffet of prime rib with mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, and salad!
the first dAnce: “We danced to Tupelo Honey by Van Morrison. We were hiking up Mount Jumbo (in Missoula) and sharing headphones (some-one forgot theirs, probably me!)... each with a headphone bud in one ear. We were almost to the top and Tupelo Honey came on. It was one of Missoula’s picturesque summer days, perfect temperature, and perfect place to be with my love. We both commented on how we love that song when we got to the top... it just stuck as a special song to us from there on out.”
Advice for rmb brides: Jackie tells us that if you hire professionals to help you plan, let them do their job. Avoid letting the little details overcome you and let the experts do what they do best! Trust their judgement as you’ll enjoy the planning process much more if you do. Be a ‘big picture’ kind of bride. As her wedding planner Becky and florist Jim would say, “Trust us, we are the A-Team, we’ll get it done right.” And they did.

Rahnel & Mike Algodones
1.4.2014
Real Wedding
Rahnel and Mike met on a double date, acting as wingmen for their friends. The friends didn’t work out, but Rahnel and Mike connected and
quickly became an item! Mike proposed to Rahnel at the same sushi restaurant (even the same table!) they met at years before. These
two San Franciscans decided to let fate decide their wedding location with a game of darts!
They placed a map of the US on a dart board, and each threw a dart. The center point between the two darts became their
wedding location - a destination wedding in New Mexico! Their wedding was exactly what they wanted, stress-free and all about their love
for each other.
rockymountainbride.com 33Rocky Mountain Bride
the theme: Rahnel and Mike chose vintage hollywood glam meets New Mexico as their wedding theme. They chose a neutral color palette that accented the rich clay color of the area and used fur elements and embellishments to tie in the winter season.
the dress: Rahnel, with only a couple months to plan her wedding, shopped local designers and vintage boutiques in search of the perfect dress for the day. She found it at a shop in San Francisco and fell in love with the gown’s beading and backless detail.
the flowers: In line with her color palette, Rahnel chose florals that were neutral and incorporated fur-like floral textures to play into her theme. She let the designers at Amy Nicole Floral Studio create her vision, and they did a stunning job!
the fAvorite detAil: “It was unlike any wedding I have been to before,” Rahnel tells us. She loved that the day was on their schedule andcompletely carefree and full of love and happiness.
34 rockymountainbride.com Rocky Mountain Bride
mr. And mrs. moment: Rahnel tells us that she loved getting ready with Mike, and spending the whole day together. It made the wedding that much more special that they could be together for all the little moments.
the food: Rahnel and Mike love steak and hidden gems, so they chose to have a romantic dinner for two in Old Town Albuquerque at Antiquity Restaurant, where they indulged on all their favorite foods.
the honeymoon: Rahnel and Mike decided to explore Asia for a month. The two visited Tokyo, Bangkok, Koh Samed and Hong Kong to name just a few stops on their trip! Their absolute favorite part of the honeymoon was spending a week at the Paradee Resort, sipping spicy tom yum cocktails, and watching the sunset each day from their villa.
Advice for rmb brides: “Don’t let the wedding take over - remember it’s the one day all about you and your husband. The little details like napkin colors and party favors don’t matter in the big picture.”

Tricia & Noel Park City
3.14.2014 When Noel, a Landscape Architect
knocked on Tricia’s door, she knew she was in trouble! They clicked immediately. Noel
proposed toTricia while hiking at Crowders Mountain, NC in the same spot (they think!) that he first kissed her. The two decided on a destination wedding just weeks before the day and celebrated with immediate family at
the gorgeous Deer Valley Resort.
Real Wedding
the theme: The theme for this snowy destination wedding was casual winter elegance. The colors used were white, cream, brown, and sprays of pink.
the dress: Tricia wore a gorgeous fitted a-line Allure gown, accompanied by a beaded belt and cream wool shawl. “We decided on a destination mountain wedding 6 weeks before the event. I was working a Superbowl event in NYC and was stranded an extra day because of a snow storm. My twin sister and best childhood friend were with me. We decided to go wedding dress shopping and I bought it off the rack that day at a bridal salon in Manhattan!”
the flowers: The flowers used to create Tricia and Noel’s winter wedding was white roses, pepperberries, miniature pinecones, and white trillium. Tricia wanted soft textures and subtle hints of winter without becoming too “Christmas.”
the fAvorite detAil: The couple’s favorite detail was the horse drawn carriage they and their guests enjoyed after the ceremony.
40 rockymountainbride.com Rocky Mountain Bride
mr. + mrs. moment: “Saying ‘I Do!’”
the sweets: They served a simple wedding carrot cake made by Snow Park Bakery at Deer Valley Resorts and garnished by Artisan Bloom.
the food: Tricia and Noel’s guests were in for a treat when they sat down for dinner! They enjoyed Swiss Alps cuisine featuring raclette and roasted leg of lamb prepared in the lodge’s enormous stone fireplace.
the first dAnce: The couple danced to Bob Sneider’s “40 Dogs” and “Let the Light In.” It was their feel good songs they listened to when dating.
Advice for rmb brides: “Don’t stress! Do your research and chose vendors whose style you really like even if they cost a little more. When you have vendors you trust, it takes a lot of worry away from your creating your magical day.”

Cheryl & Joe Moose
3.28.2014
Both Jackson locals, Cheryl and Joe met at a bar, trying to assert their knowledge of history
in the current conversation. One thing led to another and they realized that they had
more than a love of history in common. They were both passionate about the outdoors, camping, skiing, and having a great time no matter where they were. The two decided to have a winter wonderland wedding on a
snowy March day. They celebrated with friends and family just outside of Jackson in Moose. From a frosty outdoor ceremony to s’mores by the fire, Cheryl and Joe’s wedding day was
perfection.
Real Wedding
the theme: The couple chose “winter wonderland” as their wedding theme, which fit in perfectly with the March weather! Cheryl chose a color palette of purple and silver for her snowy celebration.
the dress: Cheryl’s dress was an Enzoani “Dabra” ballgown that dazzled with a delicate lace overlay and beaded belt.
the flowers: Since the couple wanted the Tetons and snow to be the “wow” factor, they decided to go with simple, colorful and elegant flowers. Cheryl chose baby’s breath and hydrangeas to complement her winter wonderland theme.
the fAvorite detAil: “My mother-in-law knit purple scarves for all of the wedding guests. We wanted to provide something warm for our guests for the outdoor ceremony. It was amazing to start walking down the aisle and to see all of the closest people in my life and have them in matching scarves. We also had coffee with Baileys and hot chocolate that guests could have during the ceremony.”
rockymountainbride.com 47Rocky Mountain Bride
mr. And mrs. moment: “Our hug after the ceremony was such a special moment. During the ceremony, I felt that we were addressing our friends and family but the hug really felt like it was just between us.”
the first dAnce: The couple’s first dance was to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros’ song “Home.” Cheryl tells us that the summer before the wedding her and Joe went to their concert in Salt Lake City. They felt that the lyrics really spoke to them and as long as they were together, they were home.
the sweets: Guest enjoyed red velvet cake and a s’mores bar by the outside fire pit - the perfect sweet treat!
the food: For dinner, Cheryl and Joe served salmon, barbequed chicken, and porto-bello mushrooms with polenta. The bride loved that there was something for everyone on the menu. Her favorite was Dornan’s delicious barbequed chicken.
Advice for rmb brides: “Make your wedding reflective of you and your fiance. Joe and I are not fancy people who like to wear high heels or tuxedos. We wanted to be outside, close to the beautiful mountains that we call home and just enjoy this spe-cial moment with the people who are most important to us. Along the way, we were questioned about our choice of an outdoor winter ceremony or a casual venue, but we were always sure that it would represent us, which made our day special for everyone involved.”
three words: Fun, awesome, so much love (for each other and all of our friends and family)

albertaChelsea & Josh
Banff
11.15.2013Chelsea and Josh met in 11th grade Biology
class in high school. Their first date was typical of high school sweethearts - a scary movie,
where they held hands and Josh drove Chelsea home by curfew. The two have been insep-arable ever since. Since he just couldn’t wait
another day to ask, Josh proposed to Chelsea in the home they bought together the day he picked up the ring! When he got home, Chel-sea was getting ready for an event that night
and he came into their room and got down on one knee! The two chose to have an intimate and romantic wedding in the snowy Rocky
Mountains.
Real Wedding Snow Cover Wedd ing !
the theme: Chelsea and Josh wanted their wedding to be classic, elegant and romantic. They kept the decor and flowers simple in order to set the mood with tons of glowing lights! The color palette used was navy and grey.
the dress: “As any bride, I was on a budget and refused to try on anything over it. I knew I wanted a fitted, mermaid style, strapless with a sweet heart neckline. I had tried on several that fit this description, but not every detail was right. I eventually found Novia Mia Bridal- who custom makes dresses and I was sold. I had my dress made to fit every detail I had hoped for. It indeed was fitted, mermaid style, strapless and sweetheart neckline. My mother made my sash by hand, which was the perfect touch.”
the flowers: Chelsea wanted to create an intimate and warm environment for her wedding, so she focused on lights and candles and used baby’s breath as accent floral.
the fAvorite detAil: Chelsea fell in love with all the candles and lights used - it created the perfect ambiance for a winter wedding.
mr. And mrs. moment: “I would say walking the aisle after the ceremony. Carey captured a great picture of us that just describes our emotions perfectly. It was happiness, relief (that we didn’t mess up our lines) and excitement. Josh said his favorite part was listening to the speeches from our family and friends.”
54 rockymountainbride.com Rocky Mountain Bride
the sweets: Guests enjoyed a two-tier cake of vanilla (for the groom) and chocolate (for the bride) crafted by Chelsea’s maid of honor and sister-in-law!
the food: For dinner, the couple served lamb, beef, chicken and prawns. The food was classic and delicious-just as they had hoped. To this day, guests still rave about the lamb!
Advice for rmb brides: “Make a weekend out of it and plan some fun activities. We took our family dog sledding on our wedding weekend and it was a great way to make even more memories. Make sure you bring boots, a winter coat and tights for under your dress during outside pictures. I am so thankful for our outside pictures and wouldn’t change a thing, but make sure you are warm; they are worth it. Consider vendors in Calgary and Banff, sometimes they offer different services, prices and op-portunities. Check the weather and the roads to your location. If they don’t get plowed, you won’t make it up the mountain.”
three words: Perfect, Perfect, Perfect. Really it was perfect, memorable, and exactly how we wanted it.
the honeymoon: The love birds jetted to Europe, where they spent three weeks exploring Scotland, Ireland and Italy.

Rosalyn & David Whistler
2.20.2014Rosalyn and David’s love story spans from the UK to Canada! The two met in the UK and ended up moving to Canada. While on a return visit to Europe, Rosalyn jetted over to Spain to visit family. Upon her arrival at
the airport, she found David waiting for her on one knee with hand written proposal
signs- talk about a surprise! The two planned an intimate wedding in Whistler. Friends and family celebrated their love with a gorgeous
outdoor ceremony and candle lit dinner, topped off with hot toddies and apple pie!
Real Wedding
the theme: Rosalyn and David didn’t have a specific theme - they wanted their wedding to feel rustic, romantic, and a bit quirky. They chose a color palette of navy blue, dusky tones of purples and greys , and a pop of yellow.
the dress: “My dress had a simple shape but was detailed with the most gorgeous lace appliqués, exactly what I wanted for our romantic wintery wedding! Looking back I did struggle with choosing a dress as there are just so many out there, but this was the one my Mum cried at almost instantly, so I knew I was onto something special. I also wore a shawl that my Mum had knitted, held together with a snowflake brooch borrowed from my MOH, Vicki.”
the flowers: When it came to blooms, the couple wanted something fresh and simple with a pop of color, but were very open to ideas and inspiration so they left it up to the talented Rachael & Kerry at Sea to Sky and worked with the amazing Senka Florist to create the stunning bouquets that also doubled as part of the table decor!
the fAvorite detAil: “So hard to choose just one! Either the hot toddies after coming in from the cold, or the apple pies...”
rockymountainbride.com 61Rocky Mountain Bride
mr. + mrs. moment: “Being introduced as the new Mr. & Mrs. Bowen was a pretty special moment for me, but aside from that, escaping for five minutes to have a little cheers to us was just lovely!”
the sweets: Rosalyn and David decided to forgo the traditional wedding cake and chose to have apple pies brought in instead. They thought it was a better reflection of their foodie personalities, plus it was tastier than cake!
the food: Guests enjoyed hot toddies and hors d’oeuvres following the ceremony, and then for the reception, they indulged in a three course gourmet meal prepared by the chefs at Edgewater Lodge. Roselyn tells us that “everyone says you don’t ever get to eat at your own wedding, but there was no way I was passing up our feast!”
the first dAnce: The newlyweds asked the band to play ‘I wanna grow old with you’ from the film ‘The Wedding Singer’ - this was one of the first films they watched together and as they wanted something fun, simple, and relatively short, it was the perfect song!
Advice for rmb brides: “Be very clear on what you (not your family) want, be prepared for those little extras that pop up as your date gets nearer, and realize that no matter how hard you try you can’t please everyone - and that’s OK! This day is about you and celebrating being in love! Oh, and one last thing - get those thank you cards ready for sending out as soon as possible!”

The RMB Blog Board Photos, ideas and brides we love!
This winter we are loving all things soft and romantic. We are swooning over naturals and neutrals, but we can’t say no to sequins and fur. Our perfect winter wedding would start outside in the snow and end
with a cozy, intimate dinner party reception by candle light.
