Effects of Speed and Idle• Engine- The ideal speed for the average truck is 50-55 MPH. The power
required to increase speed increases by 73% more horsepower at 60 MPH, and by 159% more horsepower at 70 MPH.
• Fuel Cost- Each mile per hour above 50 MPH increases fuel consumption by 1 ½ percent. A truck, which averages 8 MPG at 50 MPH, will average 6.8 MPG at 60 MPH.
• Tires- Heat is the #1 problem with tires. Sustained speeds raise tire temperatures above the critical level causing strength and wear properties to deteriorate rapidly. Wear on tires will almost double at road speeds of 70 MPH or greater.
• General Maintenance Cost- Gears, bearings, clutches, suspension and drive trains all wear much faster at higher speeds. Increasing speed from 50 MPH to 60 MPH increases maintenance costs by 38%. Increasing the speed to 70 MPH increases the cost by 80%.
• Idling- Idling causes twice the amount of damage as average driving. One hour of idling is equal to between 80 and 120 minutes of driving time. The resulting loss of fuel economy from excessive idling can add up to 800 gallons of fuel annually for the average truck.
• Accidents- Approximate stopping distances, including reaction time for the average person:
» 50 MPH – 275 feet» 60 MPH – 375 feet» 70 MPH – 500 feet
Software Overview• Key Info. at a Glance - provides the convenience and accessibility to use
the software from virtually any internet connection. The software can be configured to run independently on a single Windows PC or on a network of PCs that share a common database (such as Microsoft SQL Server). The software was designed to facilitate in multi-tasking applications.
• Rapid Tracking - It’s often critical to follow a vehicle very closely as it moves along on the map. Multiple vehicles may be placed in Rapid Tracking mode at once. The vehicle positions are updated every few seconds and the map is re-centered and zoomed to include all vehicles in Rapid Tracking mode
• Routing – Allows the user to instantly type in an address, map the address, and the software finds the closest vehicle to that address. The vehicle can then be routed by shortest route or by quickest route.
• Geofencing - A geofence is a geographic region on a map that generates an event when a vehicle enters or exits the region and sends an alert.
• Over-the-air configuration – Reporting intervals and alert settings can be remotely configured.
• Customization – User-defined Status and Vehicle Grouping can easily be created for all applications.
• RMT team has special expertise in moving information wirelessly - across town or around the world - using WiFi, cellular and satellite packet data services over 802.11x, GSM, CDMA, GeoSync Satellite and Low Earth Orbit Satellite services.
