T oday, Patufet’s rather bored. Luckily, all of a sudden someone has pushed an intriguing invitation under his door. It says:

never seen it before. It’s an exciting, magical place, full of art and life. You’ll discover a city you’ve never imagined, and it’s hiding a big secret. You’ve been chosen for a magical adventure.I’ll be waiting for you early tomorrow morning, on the

steps of Güell Park.A friend.

He can’t work out who might have sent it, as he’s got good friends all over the place. But he’s keen on the idea, because discovering the secrets of Barcelona is an amazing prospect!

As soon as the security guard opens the gates of Güell Park, Patufet, who’s already been waiting for a while, rushes in. The adventure begins!

On the steps leading to the wonders of the park he realises he’s the only person there. “That’s a good start! Whoever my guide is, they’re late!” he thinks, sitting down on a step. The crowds of visitors go past, all ready with their cameras and maps and keen to discover new things. But there is still no sign of whoever sent the note. Could it all be a joke?

Suddenly, he notices a strange movement beside him. He turns round and notices the dragon who has been welcoming all the visitors to Güell Park for more than a century. But the dragon is a trencadís mosaic figure. Of course he can’t move... Or can he?

Anxiously, the boy moves slowly closer and...“Good morning, Patufet!”“Goodness! Are you my guide?”

Barcelona skies. It’s incredible! Patufet couldn’t have imagined his journey would begin in such an original way. From up here, he sees the hills surrounding the city, Montjuïc and Tibidabo, and the two rivers marking its boundaries, the Llobregat and the Besòs.

“Barcelona is the equal of any other city in the world,” says the mosaic dragon as he flies through the sky. “It has huge buildings, like Rome; gorgeous beaches, like the Caribbean; great avenues, like New York; and a mosaic of cultures from all over the world, like Paris. Barcelona’s got everything, and that makes it unique!”
