2.0 PURPOSE
DBI-SALARollgliss®Rescuemate™Pulleysareavailableinvariouscombinationsofsheaves(mobileandfixed),cheeksandrollerorsinteredbearings.Thedevicesareintended

forusewithsyntheticropes(nylon,polyesterorblendsofbothmaterials).Thepulleyshavebeendesignedtoensurethattheywillnottwistordamagetheropeinnormaluse,extendingropelife.
Rollgliss®Rescuemate™Pulleysaredesignedtobepartofarescuesystemtoprovidetransport,re-directionand/ormechanicaladvantage.Thisallowsanoperatortogainaccesstoorfromarescuelocationandanadvantageinlifting,loweringandholdingloads.Theproductthereforebecomespartofanefficientsystemforbelay,retrieval,self-belayandself-retrieval.
WARNING: Usersmustreadtheseinstructionsofuseandensuretheyhaveafullunderstandingoftheproductapplicationanditslimitations.Participationinanyworkatheightsorrescueoperationisaphysicalactivity,participantsshouldensurethattheyarephysicallyfitandcapableofengaginginsuchactivities.

Rollgliss®Rescuemate™PulleysaremanufacturedinAustraliafromcombinationsofaluminiumand/orhighgradestainlesssteel.SelectpulleyshavebeentestedtoandcomplytoEuropeanstandardEN12278(2007)andNFPA1983(2012ed.).AllpulleyscertifiedcarrytheCE2056markandSAIGlobalmarkasproofofcompliance.Classificationunderrelevantstandardsisuniqueforeachpulleycertifiedandwillbemarkeduponthepulleyitself.UseofthesepulleysshouldconsiderthelocalstandardsthatmayaffectthesystemsinstalledsuchasASNZS1891.1,1891.4,ANSI/ASSEZ359.1and/orZ359.4.
5.0 INSPECTION
Rollgliss®Rescuemate™Pulleysmustbevisuallyandmanuallyinspectedbeforeandaftereachusetoverifythatthedeviceisoperatingcorrectly.Anyproductwhichhasbeenwithdrawnfromservicemustbeinspectedbyacompetentpersonandmayonlybereturnedtoserviceifsaidcompetentpersonauthorizesinwritingtheuseofthatproduct.Whereanyproductfailsaninspection,hasbeenusedinaliverescue(nottraining)and/orhasseentheforceofafall,itistobeimmediatelytakenoutofserviceandtaggedunusable.Suchproductsmustbecertifiedbythemanufacturerortheirrepresentativepriortore-instatementtoservice.
Duringtheuserinspectionyoumust:A)Swivelcheeksslideopenfreely;B)Thesheaverotatesfreelyintheassembly;C)Ensurethereisnodirtbuildupintheareaofthesheaveandpulleycheeks;
D)Thereisnodeformationofthepulleycheeks;

E)Thereisnocorrosionofthemetalcomponents;F)Therearenocracksorbreaksinthebodyofthepulley.
6.0 THREADING THE PULLEY
Threadingofthepulleyiscompletedusingthefollowingsteps:1. Swivelthecheekstotheopenpositionbysliding
theminopposingdirectionstoexposethesheave;2. Insertorlaytheropeontothesheave;3. Swivelthecheekstotheclosedpositiontoalignthe
becketsattachmentholes;4. Securetheclosedpositionbyinsertingsuitable
attachmenthardwarethroughthepulley'sbecketattachmentpoint(e.g.akarabiner).
Whenusingpulleystocreateamechanicaladvantagesystemitisimportantthatmultisheavepulleysarereaved(roped)correctly,whereminimallinecrossingisachieved.Itisrecommendedthatpropertrainingisundertakenbytheusertoensurethatsystemsaresetupcorrectlyandthatthemechanicaladvantageofthesystemdoesnotpotentiallyoverloadthesystem.
WARNING: A)NEVERuseaswivelcheekpulleyintheopenposition.B)Allbecketattachmentholesmustbealignedandlockedclosedwithattachmenthardware.
C)Whenpreparingtousethepulley,careshouldbetakentoensurethatthepulleyisnotoverloadedanduseiscontainedwithinasuitableWorkingLoadLimit(WLL).WLLisdeterminedbytheuser,localemergencyagencies/policiesandstandards.TypicalWLLratiosarebetween8:1and15:1(WorkingLoadLimittoMinimumBreakingStrength).theMinimumBreakingStrengthis

markedonthepulley.D)Alwaysensureloadsonthepulleyareplacedinthedirectionofthesheaverotation.Placingsideloadsonthepulleysuchasonaleadingedgemayresultinthepulleybeingdamaged,failingtooperatecorrectlyorreleasingitsloadcompletely.
E)Wherethereisconcernregardingtheconditionofthepulley,itmustbewithdrawnfromservice.Contactthemanufactureroritsserviceagencyforassistance.
F)TheuseofPulleysinarescue/retrievalorhaulingsystemreliesonthecompatibilityofthevariouscomponentsofthesystem.Usersmustbeawareofhoweachcomponentofthesystemworkswithothercomponentstoensuresafeoperations.
7.0 CONNECTING THE PULLEY
ConnecttheRollgliss®Rescuemate™Pulleytoasuitableanchorpointorwithinahaulsystemdependinguponthespecificapplicationofthepulley.Theanchorpointmustbesuitablyratedfortheexpectedloadsonthepulleyasperlocalstandardsandcalculatedloadsofthesysteminplace.Useacompatiblelockingconnectorapprovedforusewithinyourlocalitytoconnectthepulley’sbeckettotheanchorpoint.
8.0 PRINCIPLES OF MECHANICAL ADVANTAGE
Pulleyscanbeusedincombinationtodeliveramechanicaladvantageinlifting.Theattachedchartoutlinescommonconfigurationsthatillustratesimplemechanicaladvantagesystems:

10. ANNUAL INSPECTION PERIOD
ItisrecommendedthatRollgliss®Rescuemate™Pulleysbeinspectedbytheuserbeforeandafteruseandbyacompetentpersonevery12monthstohelpmaintaintheproductserviceability.

11. MAINTENANCE
Rollgliss®Rescuemate™Pulleysarepersonalprotectiveequipment(PPE)andneedtobemaintainedtoensureasafeworkinglife.Itisrecommendedthattheuserofthisequipmentfollowthefollowingmaintenanceprocedures.A)Washinclean,potablewater.Ifyouneedtoremovegritormorestubborndirtandgrimethatoftencauses

stiffnessintherotationofthepulleycheeksorsheaves,alightcleaningagentsuchasWD40orequivalentmaybeused.Whenacleaningagentisusedensurethatallremnantsarewashedoff.
B)Afterwashing,allowtoair-dryafterwipingawayexcessmoisture.
C)Uselightmachineoiltoreplaceoilsinthebearingareasandallowthepulleytostandsoexcessoilsmaydripfromthepulley,wipeanyexcessoilfromthesheavesandcheeksbeforebeingplacedbackintoservice.
D)Storeinacleananddrylocation.
Note:Serviceand/orrepairstothedeviceshallonlybecarriedoutbythemanufacturerand/ortheirrepresentativeasauthorisedinwriting.
12. PRODUCT LIFE
TheRollgliss®Rescuemate™Pulleysshouldhavea10yearoperatinglifeafteritisfirstplacedintoservice,providedthatitiskeptinacleananddryenvironment,isinspectedonatleasta12monthlybasisbyacompetentpersonandismaintainedinaccordancewiththerequirementsoutlinedinthismanual.
Wherethedevicehasfailedaninspectionandisdeemedunserviceable,thedeviceistobedestroyedand/ormadeinoperablesothatitcannotbereturnedtoservice.Forclarificationonsecuredisposaland/ordestructioncontactCapitalSafety.
13. USE CONDITIONS
Rollgliss®Rescuemate™Pulleysaredesignedforuseinthenormalworkingconditionsfoundintheindustrialmarket.
Thisincludesambienttemperaturessuchashot,drywetandcoldworkingconditions.Thetemperaturerangerecommendedforthepulleyis-40°-+50°Celsius,-40°-+122°Fahrenheit.
Wheretemperaturestobeexperiencedintheareaofuseexceedthistemperaturerange,theusershouldcontactthemanufacturertoverifysuitabilityofuse.Theinfluenceofextremewetandcoldconditionsmaychangetheworkingcharacteristics,i.e.frictionandeaseofuseofthepulley.Howeversuchconditionsshouldnotaffecttheworkingstrengthofthepulley.Careshouldbetakenwhenusingpulleysinextremeweather.Iceandsnowmustbeclearedfromthepulleytoensuresmoothoperation.
Whereapulleycomesintocontactwithchemicals,thepulleyneedstobecleanedassoonaspracticableandinspectedforanysurfacedamagetothefinishandmetals.Allchemicalsandsolventsshouldbeconsideredharmfulandcareshouldbetakentomaintainandinspectthesepulleysbeforeeachusewherechemicalsarepresent.
AnyuserofRollgliss®Rescuemate™Pulleysthatworkinanareaofpossiblechemicalcontaminationneedtocarryoutariskassessmentandprepareasafeworkmethodstatement.Theseshouldincludethecleaningandinspectioncriteriafortheequipmentbasedonthepotentialdamagefromchemicalsintheworkarea.AlwayschecktheMSDSofanychemicalsthatcouldcomeintocontactwiththepulleyoranyCapitalSafetyproduct.
14. LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY (AUSTRALIA)
WarrantytoEndUser:CapitalSafetyGroup(Australia)PtyLtd(“CapitalSafety”)warrantstotheoriginalenduser
