MISSION FOR ST. PATRICK BOARDING PRIMARY SCHOOL IN ISINGORO-UGANDA;

SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 14/15TH

.

Dear St. Patrick parishioners and friends,

Love and sincere greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. As you are all aware, in October of last year (2016), we embarked on a project of raising funds to build a sister school in Uganda. It will be called St. Patrick boarding Primary School. Since we started the fundraising efforts we have received overwhelming support from different parishes (St. Monica’s, Blessed Sacra-ment, St. Patrick Church of Merna in Bloomington) and personal friends and businesses. We have received support from Knights of Columbus of both St. Patrick and St. Monica parishes. We have enjoyed overwhelming support from the media houses like the Washing-ton Courier and The Catholic Post. We spoke on WMBD with the Greg and Dan show, we were interviewed on “Living Well” channel 31 WMBD. We had a Peoria Chiefs game that many of you participated in, we had a T-shirt fundraiser, CUTS for BRICKS and we have a Marathon coming on October 7. St. Patrick school here and our CCD students have supported us so much by buying bracelets, BUY A BRICK, free dress day and many other fundraising events. BUT ALL THE MOMENTUM WAS SET BY YOU PARISHIONERS IN OUR VERY FIRST MISSION LAST YEAR. I cannot thank you enough. Only God will reward you. A target has been established to raise a total of $500,000. Currently, we have raised about 44% of this required amount. This amount will help to initiate construction of the first phase of the school in 2018. The first classes are targeted to start in February 2019. We will also need sponsors for the future students at $ 50.00 per month to enable these children from generational poverty to receive the best education. Sign up on our website www.buildinghopeinkids.org if you want to sponsor a child. As the project grew and developed, a Not For Profit organization was formed as its own corporate entity. This organization, Building Hope in Kids – Uganda (BHIK-U), was officially registered with the State of Illinois on April 26, 2017. BHIK-U will continue in future to raise funds to build and operate school. As we wind up our fundraising efforts for this year (2017), I appeal to you for your support again during the mission for this year. The mission will be on the weekend of October 14/15. All donations are Tax deductible. Checks can be written out to Building Hope in Kids-Uganda (or just BHIK-U). Donations can be dropped off in the Sunday collection, mailed to PO Box 612, Washington, IL 61571 or dropped off at the church office. Check more about the project on our website at www.buildinghopeinkids.org Thanks, and God bless. Fr. Julius Turyatoranwa.

New Program for our Young Children . . .

St. Patrick Parish is beginning a new program for our youth which will be incorporated into the school’s religion class and the CCD program (for PreSchool—4th Graders) in Upper Room.

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) Program is a Montessori based Catholic education program which nurtures the child's relationship with God, and educates the child in the faith. Dr. Maria Montessori's approach follows St. Thomas Aquinas' understanding that "all our knowledge has its origin in the senses." The ATRIUM is a place of prayer, prepared especially for chil-dren to contemplate the life of Jesus and the Liturgy of the Church with the use of many sensorial materials, including infancy narrative figures, a raised map of the land of Israel, a model altar and a model baptismal font and many others. This concrete method of presenting the faith is similar to the way the Church teaches us through the sacraments, holy water, incense and statues. For more information go to website: The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

The Cash Bash is a draw-down style fundraiser. Each ticket sold has a number associated with it, and those numbers get eliminat-ed at random throughout the evening. The last number to be drawn WINS $3,000!! It's a GREAT time, with food and drink provided! Your ticket gets you a numbered square, and entry for two people into the event. There will only be 200 tickets sold, so the odds are fantastic! Plus - there are more ways to win than just the grand prize. The 1st, 100th and 199th numbers drawn will WIN $500, and every 10th number drawn will get their $100 ticket price refunded! Tickets are $100 and can be purchased from the Parish or School Office, or from any Athletic Com-mittee Member! Hope to see you there! Need NOT be present to win!!
