Was a Romanian-born sculptor who made hiscareer in France. As a child he displayed anaptitude for carving wooden farm tools.Formal studies took him first to Bucharest,then to Munich, then to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His abstract style emphasizes

clean geometrical lines that balance formsinherent in his materials with the symbolicallusions of representational art. FamousBrâncui works include the Sleeping

Muse (1908), The

Kiss (1908), Prometheus(1911), Mademoiselle

Pogany (1913), The Newborn (1915), Bird inSpace (1919) and The Column of the Infinite

(Coloana infinitului), popularly known as The

is a Romanian pan flute musician.Zamfir is known for playing an expandedversion of the traditional Romanian-style panflute of 20 pipes to 22, 25, 28 and 30 pipes toincrease its range, and obtaining as many aseight overtones (additionally to the

fundamental tone) from each pipe bychanging the embouchure.He is known as "The Master of the Pan Flute.

Was a Romantic poet, novelist and journalist,often regarded as the most famous and

influential Romanian poet. Eminescu was anactive member of the Junimea literary societyand he worked as an editor for thenewspaper Timpul ("The Time"), the officialnewspaper of the Conservative Party (18801918). His first poems volume was published

when he was 16 and he went to Vienna tostudy when he was 19. The poet's Manuscripts,containing 46 volumes and approximately14,000 pages, were offered by Titu Maiorescuas a gift to the Romanian Academy during themeeting that was held on January 25, 1902.

Notable works include Luceafrul ("

EveningStar"), Od în metru antic (Ode in Ancient

Meter ), and the five Letters (Epistles/Satires). Inhis poems he frequently used metaphysical,mythological and historical subjects. In generalhis work was influenced by the Germanphilosopher Arthur Schopenhauer.
