REFRESH SYSTEMS

Refresh Systems provide a series of standard systems that can be used to over-clad existing building envelopes that have failed, require improved thermal or acoustic performance or have seen better days and are in need of a facelift.

Types of roof and wall systems that can be over-clad include:

• built-up metal, fibre cement and asbestos roof and walls

• insulated composite panel roof and walls

• flat roofs with very low pitches

Premium steel roof which shows no fixings once installed due to a hidden (secret) clip-fixing. SF500 can be factory-manufactured or produced onsite in long continuous lengths. It can even be rolled at eaves directly onto a building’s prospective roof.

OTHER EXTERNAL OPTIONS

REFRESH WALL

ShinglesThe shingle option is available in various sizes and quadrilateral shapes, providing a distinctive façade solution. Aluminium is a popular material for shingles but they are also available in a range of other materials and colours such as copper, stainless steel, zinc and steel.

Shingles are not supplied as a Refresh System as the fixing method is decided by the installer based on the type of construction and wall design. Typically, they are fixed to a plywood deck that is in turn fitted to the existing wall. As well as the attractive aesthetic shingles provide, the simple face-fix attachment is a very cost-effective method of refreshing an existing wall, that is not in need of improved performance but does require a fresh new face.

VieoCharming, convenient and cost effective are terms that perfectly describe this roofing system from Euroclad. It is a quickly installed alternative to traditional roofing and cladding, being manufactured using the latest technology to facilitate a straightforward installation, whilst offering the appealing aesthetic of time-honoured materials like lead or zinc.The principle is simple and effective. A flat pan sheet features simple edges known as laps that fit over and under each other, either side of the sheet. These laps sit over a stainless-steel clip that is fixed to the substrate. The laps are mechanically folded over the clip in a straightforward process.

BML SystemsBML Systems offer ten standard systems with exterior panels and support structures to suit almost every type of construction; hook-on, mechanically-fixed, face-fixed and open jointed panels can be produced in a variety of colours and materials, with proven support systems for attachment to the range of typical substrates. They are particularly effective when used in refurbishment.

Delivering an attractive office building with a thermally efficient roof was the focus for the refurbishment of Cypress House in a project that has created new commercial space in Cardiff.

Cypress House, located in Paramount Business Park in St Mellons, Cardiff, comprises a number of commercial properties, all owned by the project’s main client Paramount Office Interiors, a leading office interior design company.

The client wanted to update Cypress House for lease to local businesses. Creating the same high quality external appeal of its sister properties within the business park was key, but the deteriorating roof also needed to be refurbished to transform it into one that was aesthetically pleasing, waterproof and thermally efficient.

With a £125,000 investment, the refurbishment of Cypress House was completed in April 2017, with Euroclad Refresh Systems providing the attractive exterior cladding and high-performance roof, both featuring non-combustible insulation with inherent thermal and sound insulation.

Euroclad products provided the contemporary, high quality appearance that the project needed. The project’s installer, Central Roofing South Wales, chose Euroclad’s Refresh Systems to refurbish the roof and walls. Refresh systems offer a 25-year system guarantee and quick and easy installation. They were used on the roof and walls, with the roof featuring 1600m2 of the 32/1000 trapezoidal external profile in Goosewing Grey, similar in appearance to the original roof but providing a fresh new look and a significant performance upgrade. This was key to this project, as it met the thermal insulation specification of 0.25W/m2K.

More than 300m2 of Opus plank cladding provided the attractive visual of the Refresh System used to refurbish the walls, with an energy efficient 0.35W/m2K U-value. The Opus panels were supplied in Merlin Grey, which was

chosen to meet the client’s requirement for a colour that best resembled the cladding on the other buildings in the business park.

Tony Davies from specialist installer Central Roofing South Wales, which installed the wall and roof systems and profiles, said: “Our brief from the client was to produce an attractive commercial building that complements and fits the style of the other properties in the business park.

“I have worked with Euroclad on a number of other projects and trust them to provide great products on time and within budget. We specified Euroclad products for this job and they were able to offer us several options to help create the desired finish. The colour-matches were great and the plank profiles were perfect for this project as they allowed us to install them quickly and easily around the many windows on the building.”
