Forms and materials are maintained and directly connected to the main public podium level. The podium level was overall based on the QP district masterplan layout and building geometry inspired by the golden spiral geometry as seen in the nautilus shell.Nautilus shell
Ultimately the Interior design concepts throughout the towers and podium levels became about the “pearl cultivation” industry

The extension on Level 08 & 09, allowed Woods Bagot to challenge the initial concepts of Activity Based Working and respond to specific user requirements outlined in post occupancy studies and design focus groups.
In the upper floors the initial planning philosophy was re-interpreted to allow for more contiguous working space and larger neighbourhoods. Work styles were reviewed to create solutions specific for project teams and call centre employees. This resulted in a range of spaces, work setting and furniture, unique to these floors which complement the existing menu and increase the diversity of spaces.
Level 08 is known as ‘The Lounge’ and accommodates Private banking and Level 09 is known as ‘The Art House’

The project has essentially been an interior design process that is concerned with rejuvenating an old Art Deco bank building with many original features and providing a new ‘sister’ venue for St.Kilda’s Cicciolina restaurant. Whilst context, history, memory and locale influenced the design, it was as much about the notion of interpreting new opportunities for a 20 year single operative establishment that has been tucked along a small lane in Acland St.

The Bluebottle restaurant is located at the base of the boutique Olsen Hotel, which is apart of the Art Series Hotels throughout Melbourne. Named and inspired by one of Australia’s greatest artists, John Olsen.
First impressions of the bluebottle restaurant is the voluminous double height space featuring the ‘calamari’ inspired oval shaped main bar with its translucent curtain shroud suspended over it.
Evocative images of cooking, food and fish penned by Olsen, in particular the painting ‘Popping Bottles’ are inspirations for the project. Striking cane and metal ‘lobster pot’ lights hang from the main mosaic tiled central columns. An inspired seafood based restaurant and bar that depicts Olsen’s fascination with water wine and food coupled with a passionate restaurateur has evolved in a signature of the Olsen Hotel.

Construction of the shelter is based on the inherent stability and flexibility of the triangle. The triangles can be folded and joined to create a structure that responds to the situation at hand.
Able to be contained within a purpose-built, oversized ‘backpack’ and made from lightweight material, the shelter can be transported easily by an individual based on their needs.
It can provide immediate protection from the elements and, when transported to an emergency evacuation centre, can provide privacy and a sense of territory. The shelters can be grouped together with neighbours, family and friends to create a sense of mutual comfort and community.

The Factory is a space that explores collective dimensions of social experience. Artists are encouraged to let go and exit the role of author and creator, ultimately sharing this with other participants.
F l u x o f D i s t a n c e The emphasise of relationships between the occupants motivated the programming and interventions of the space through- Exchange and convergence- Fluctuation of density and distance. Compression and expansion of space- Framing views and accentuating volume- Obscuring ownership/ authorship- Participation with the other and inter- subjectivity

A requirement of the Final thesis year was to development of a 1:1 scale material. This lead to explorations of materials of different porosities throughout the space used to divide areas and emphasise distance/ proximity between occupants.

The dialogue between spaces influenced the materiality. Interlocking zones through alternating materiality and form, where boundaries spaces become ambiguous. The introduction of alternating materials through the main Experimentation space creates a boundary that starts to disintegrate.
