A full-service grocery with greenhouses would meet a demand for healthy food that is currently unmet in surrounding communities. Diversity among form, function, as well as people, would help entice newcomers while still providing for existing residents. Protected bike lanes on Reading and Section Road would strengthen the city’s bikeability by connecting to existing bike networks. Connecting cul-de-sacs and major roads increases walkability and encourage residents to explore beyond once secluded streets. Openspace throughout the site provides spaces for gathering, play, and social interaction among neighbors. A programed civic center can create a vibrant space that provides for needs such as cooking classrooms, office space, recreation, and more.
