SITE MODEL
The Eventarium is designed for the Galoppatoio north of
Villa Medici. The system of broken program is used to
claim control of the site, while a trio of trees are used to
imply paths of access to the center of the site. Varying
path widths accompany the major axes of the Eventarium,
culminating in a large promenade in the center, which
then reorients and leads the user to the Event Plaza.
The Event Plaza is meant to replace Piazza di Siena’s
annual horse show. Together, the Eventarium occupies
and revitalizes a space that had fallen into disrepair over
the past several years, in an eort to bring the people of
Rome back to this expansive and valuable area.

BROWNSVILLE TOWN CENTERSPRING 2014 STUDIO IIIBROWNSVILLE, PA
06
SITE MODELBrownsville, PA, is a town that once held it’s head
high; It was the premier coal mining town outside of
Pittsburgh. After years of deterioration, Brownsville
is nearly abandoned, losing nearly 80% of its popula-
tion from it’s peak in the 1920’s. The aim of our town
center is to rejuvenate the former town center of
Brownsville, and to provide an area of the town at
which it’s citizens can rally and rebuild.
Using local materials and similar building heights,
we introduced new forms to begin the rebuilding
process. The town was in need of usable park space,
so to connect the buildings not only by form and
material use, the park was conceived as a unifying
agent. Corten steel and concrete highlight the sur-
rounding area’s materials; they pay homage to the
wraught iron and concrete block used in Browns-
ville’s rst major expansion. By introducing a hotel,
restaurant, oce building, and bike park, these four
core pieces of infrastructure will start the second ex-
pansion this town deserves, and certainly needs.

BROOKLYN BRIDGE MUSEUMSPRING 2013 STUDIO IIBROOKLYN, NEW YORK

NIGHT EXTERIOR
Brooklyn, New York, is a thriving area of the city;
young people are beginning to move back into the
area, and a demand for a hub for these new people
is growing. The site for this museum lies right be-
neath the Brooklyn Bridge - and this is why the
museum is dedicated to the history of the bridge.
The museum was designed with the National Con-
crete and Masonry Association as a sponsor; Con-
crete was the prevailing material in the project. A
custom CMU was designed for implementation, and
is used as a screen for the gallery spaces to diuse
direct light, and emit light at night. Historic center-
pieces - original art works, a mock up of the bridge
pier - are highlighted in the open gallery spaces on
the middle oors, with a rooftop cafe looking out on
the gorgeous surrounding area.

These interior renderings show the feature of the custom CMU screen. Arranged in a way as to protect
the artwork inside, light would lter through the screen and would project on the oor. The oor would
then create an interesting glowing interior during the day. The oors frame the circulation around the
primary exhibition: a mock up of the bridge pier, to guide circulation around the main attraction.

HOUSE FOR A MUSICIANFALL 2012 STUDIO IIHOWARD, PA
10
The house for a musician was an introductory lesson
in residential design. The program called for expect-
ed living spaces for a single user with some unex-
pected variables such as: a pool for lap swimming,
an outdoor performance space, and an interior room
which would house the musician’s grand baby
piano.
Simple geometric forms drove this project; the pro-
gram demanded spaces, and that is where the form
began. The three main volumes are the living
room/kitchen space, the piano room, and the bed-
room volume. The unifying factor of these spaces is
the large chimney which is the pin throughout those
spaces. They expand o of it, and the chimney is en-
tirely stone, contrasting the primarily wood con-
struction of the house. The house is a geometric
mass whose proportions dictate the form, and
create cozy living spaces throughout the building.
