Inside this issue:
Felice Rossini Elected President of Acimga.
Felice Rossini is the new president of ACIMGA (Italian Manufacturers Association of Machinery for the Graphic, Converting and Paper Industry), the association announced recently. He re-
places Ugo Barzanò, and will hold the office for a two-year period, 2009-2010.
Mr Rossini is also president of Rossini Spa. Under the leadership of Felice Rossini the family company grew steadily and established itself on the international market. Today Rossini Spa is a world leading company for the production of rubber rollers and sleeves for rotogravure printing and flexogravure for the packaging industry. The company has several production plants both in Italy (Rescaldina, Milan and L’Aquila) and abroad (Atlanta, GA; Hudson, OH; Barcelona, Spain; and Sao Paulo, Brazil). In addition it has sales offices in China, France,
England and Germany. The choice of Felice Rossini as president was strongly supported by member companies. The report presented by the Committee for Electoral Appointment, which was in charge of consult-ing member companies and gathering their preferences for the new president, clearly shows an urgent request for a strong figure able to lead the Association through the current eco-nomic crisis.

Carrier Sleeve Patent n. 1275901
Rossini Carrier Sleeves are specially designed and engineered to provide extremely tight tolerances.
Carbon fibre is utilized to obtain the required tensile strengths, diameter and TIR tolerances.
Carrier sleeves are adapters that when used reduce sleeve thickness (maximum 25mm recommended) and price whilst improving print quality.
Thin (A), Evergreen, Everglass, Photoflex, Thermopolymer, Everstat & Starcoat sleeves can be mounted on all Carrier styles.
Carrier description:
Flow-Through Carrier
Utilizes a single mandrel air source for mounting both Carrier and plate sleeve.
Standard Carrier
Uses a secondary air source for mounting plate sleeves via an internal piping system. Used on presses with independent air supply system.
High Modulus Carrier
Engineered to dampen and reduce print-deck vibration on wide-web, high speed presses.
Custom-made Carriers can be produced to the specifications of all OEM press manufacturers.
2009 saw us undertake extensive compara-
tive press trials with prospective new flexo
customer here in the UK. Our High Modulas
carriers & Starcoat sleeves were rigorously
tested in the customer’s three presses. (2
different press manufacturers) Our product’s
performance was to be judged against those
of two of our competitors.
The data gathered from these on press trials
resulted in a substantial reinvestment by
this customer in a range of Rossini products.
This procedure and experience demon-
strated perfectly to all concerned the benefit
of informed decision making based on de-
finitive in-house testing and how it can
unlock the missing capacity potential in your
everyday print production, quality and per-
formance.
NEW Carbobridge carrier Patent pending
High Modulus Carbon-Fibre bridge sleeve without a core compressible layer that provides the ability to print at the highest quality at over 700 m/min.
Engineered and proven to dampen harmonic resonance and reduce dynamic print-deck vibration.
The bridge is air-mounted, resulting in significantly easier on-press use by the operator – improved safety with less potential for injury.
Available CarboBridge Types:
Flow-Through CarboBridge
Utilizes a single mandrel air source for mounting both bridge and plate sleeve. The most common style for current press designs.
Standard CarboBridge
Utilises a secondary air source for mounting plate sleeves via an internal air construction system.
Used on presses with independent rear air supply system as well as mounter / proofers.
Custom CarboBridge
CarboBridge carriers can be produced to the specifications of any OEM press manufacturer.
Quality control of Carrier sleeves – illustrating tube deflection test and laser measurement
of finished diameter.
Our New Carbobridge Carrier was
recently trialled at one of the German
sites of a leading worldwide packaging
group. The trial was conducted by the
customer using Rossini plate mounting
sleeves in conjunction with Carbobridge
technology. The fact that this New car-
rier design and construction does away
with the compressible expansion layer
between the inner sleeve and carrier
body means that you are assured the
quality, consistency and performance
equal to that given by mechanical or
hydraulic adaptors.
This high speed evaluation was both
positive and conclusive and has resulted
in orders to equip this site with the
New Carbobridge Carriers & Starcoat
Sleeves. (see page 4)
We are subsequently discussing similar
trials in other sites globally throughout
the group.
Starcoat Sleeve A superior sleeve, created to provide total dimensional stability
The conductive surface is applied to a fibreglass reinforced layer. This dual construction ensures very high mechanical strength and constant dimen-
sional tolerance over time.
The perfect choice for Smart GPS Technology.
Highly resistant to solvents.
Recommended for 4-colour printing and for extremely subtle highlights and vignettes.
This sleeve, with 3-year warranty, prints multiple images. It is made of conductive materials conforming to work safety standards issued by the
“PTB” (Physikalische Technische
Bundesanstalt – Germany) for flexographic presses.
Technical Data
The following Starcoat tolerance data refers to an air mandrel with a max. T.I.R. of 0.005 mm:
Max. T.I.R. 0,02mm
Max. diameter change over 3 years 0,02 mm
(working temperature 18 ÷ 40 °C)
Static dispersion < 1 Mega Ohm
Total encapsulation – no absorption of solvent or moisture
Patent pending quick-change protection ring with register slot
Not affected by humidity
Hardness - 75 Shore D
CLICK CLACK PROTECTION RING
Walk into any flexo print department
that uses sleeves and you will see
examples of inner sleeve & side wall
pin damage as well as missing &
worn register slots. Our customers
have large amounts of capital tied up
in their sleeve assets. Therefore we
thought it important to offer im-
proved protection to the higher cost
thicker walled sleeves within their
inventory. This innovation coupled
with the fact that the polyurethane
ring can be changed in house in sec-
onds. The Rossini Click Clack Ring
protects your sleeves and your asset
for the future.
The Rossini ThermoPolymerSleeve® is a continuous digital engraved sleeve.

from 4,00 mm up to 25,00 mm which means 13 repeat printing in steps of 10 mm on the same mandrel or Carrier.
Rossini Everglass Label Sleeves
To print labels on narrow web presses, it is essential to work with plate mounting sleeves that offer very tight tolerances for eccentricity and diameter, and
that these do not change over time, as any tolerance variation would inevitably lead to problems in repeat printing and in-line die cutting.
Rossini Everglass is the top-of-the-range sleeve thanks to its stability and tolerance consistency. Its fibreglass surface provides extremely high mechanical
strength and perfect adhesion to the printing plate. 100% resistant to all types of solvent. Recommended for 4-colour printing and for extremely subtle sub-
jects. This sleeve permits printing with multiple images with 60 lines per cm.

The “LEONARDO®” Sleeve consists of a fibreglass core onto which a mono-component polyurethane is extruded. This polyurethane has slightly com-
pressible properties. The precision ground surface is achieved using high specification computerised grinding machines. The surface finish of the blanket
sleeve is continuously monitored by cameras during the grinding process and therefore a very high and consistent quality standard is guaranteed.
In addition to the improved service life compared to conventional blanket sleeves, the “LEONARDO®” Sleeve offers other important advantages:
A tangible reduction in inking/damping requirement (also on LWC or B-material-papers)
Sleeve surface is not marked after changing jobs and/or paper widths
Clearly visible improvement of printing contrasts in all measurable screens
Extended blanket wash intervals
Lower temperature increase (even at full production speed)
Lowest values at current consumption (on individually driven printing units)
Constant compliancy
Environmentally Friendly
The fibreglass core and the mono-component polyurethane
reduce the environmental impact, being easily disposable.
Measured printing contrast of the “LEONARDO®” Sleeve (left) compared to a conventional blanket sleeve.
Ink reception according to Perusal of “LEONARDO®” Sleeve (left) compared to a conventional blanket sleeve. All measurements were made with a spectrodensitometer
The ink area L*a*b* (ISO-Paiertype 1)
of the different Sleeve technology becomes evident.
