ROTARY GRACE “For good food, for good fellowship,
and the privilege to serve through Rotary, we give thanks.” AMEN
President’s Message
Last week we had a good general and informative discussions regarding projects and programs for the year and our budgeting.
It was very constructive with a number of comments regarding providing background information to members of projects that have been run for some time. This is beneficial to all members, old and new.
Next week we have Patrick O’Shea making a presentation on his recent work party trip to East Timor.

An Invite from Jack Raymond. Our exchange Student who went to Japan
‘Gijin!!’ That's what they pointed and said on my first day at school. Having seen the film ‘Fast and
Furious’ I understood that this greeting meant foreigner or the outsider, and I quite enjoyed this new title.
Japan is a place of punctuality and sheer beauty, from the women to the food and the landscape.
This is what caught my eye on that day in 2013 when the Rotary Exchange board asked me where I wished
to travel and what I wanted to see. From that moment on I was ticking off months and counting down days
until I would board a plane headed for the ‘Land of the Midnight Rising Sun.’
‘Juvenile in Japan’ photographic exhibition captures my life for twelve months in a faraway land. To me, it
represents some of the amazing things that Asia and traveling there have to offer.
During my time in Japan I tried to capture everything possible. You may think this to be easy as the country
is 20 times smaller than Australia, but the task proved to be far bigger.
I found that macro photography was the best way to truly capture the small innocent goings on of one of the
world’s leading economies and to my surprise I felt I made a start.
I hope that this exhibition showcases some of Nippon’s beauties and entices you all to visit there one day.
Jack Raymond, the Juvenile in Japan.
My Apologies for the delay in sending out this week’s edition of the Grapevine, I’ve just returned to the
world of instant communication, unfortunately there was no WIFI where I was staying. A quick word for
Bruce ‘Killa ‘ Kilpatrick. I do hope this does not bring on a bout of the dreaded” Inconvenience Syndrome’.
I think ‘Killa’ will know to what I am referring
Terry
A guy finds an old violin and an oil painting in the attic of a house he just bought. So he takes them both to an antique shop to see if either of them has any value. The dealer asks him to leave the items with him for a week.
So, a week later, the guy gets a phone call from the dealer. “Well, I’ve had both the violin and the painting appraised and I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that you have a Stradivarius and a Rembrandt.”
“So what could possibly be the bad news?” asks the customer. “Well...you see sir, Stradivarius never really made it as a painter...”
