1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S
Sydney United 58 will be desperate to bounce back from last week’s thrashing at the hands
of APIA Leichhardt Tigers when they host Manly United on Saturday.United 58 shipped six goals, including four in the first half, as APIA cruised to a 6-2 victory.Manly come into the game after snatching a late 1-1 draw against Wollongong Wolves. The loss to APIA was The Red’s first in six weeks and would’ve come as a shock to coach Miro Vlastelica who has had his side firing on all cylinders since his mid-season appointment.Chris Payne has been back to his goal scoring best in the latter half of the campaign and will be a dangerous customer for the Manly defence.Manly may have won the Championship last season but they have failed to hit anywhere near those heights in 2018.Despite this they are still a long shot of sneaking into the finals but anything less than a win this week would end their chances.
There is a lot riding on this game for the boys from the Northern Beaches so expect them to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of victory.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSAPIA Leichhardt Tigers 6 – Sydney United 58 2 at Lambert Park
A four goal haul from star striker Jordan Murray has helped APIA Leichhardt flex their Premiership muscles in a 6-2 domination of Sydney United 58 at Lambert Park on Sunday.
Murray, the National Premier Leagues NSW top scorer, extended his tally to 23 goals for the season with his prolific performance which included a hat trick inside the first half hour.
APIA blew their opposition away in the first half, with Murray’s hat trick giving the competition’s top side a comfortable lead by the 30 minute mark.
Tasuku Sekiya added two while Chris Payne pulled Sydney United back within three goals with a brace of his own, before Murray finally rounded out the scoring with the last kick of the game.
APIA go into the final two rounds in pole position at the top of the competition ladder but Sydney Olympic remain in striking distance, level on points and in second only due to their inferior goal.
Manly United 1 – Wollongong Wolves 1 at Cromer Park
Manly United and Wollongong Wolves were forced to share the spoils despite a frantic final half an hour playing out a 1-1 draw at Cromer Park on Saturday.
With both sides in need of all three points from the do-or-clash, the result was an all-round disappointment for both sides desperate to secure their finals fate.
Wollongong’s Peter Simonoski opened the scoring against the run of play 14 minutes in, but his strike was cancelled out by a 63rd minute Jamie Lobb header.
While Manly enjoyed plenty of positive field position during a tight opening, they struggled to create clear cut opportunities in the final third.
The Wolves, on the other hand, forged enough openings to snatch it late.
However they were cruelly denied by a combination of Dylan Mitchell, the woodwork and a miraculous Kieren Paull goal line clearance.
In the end, both outfits were left with a bitterly disappointing point.

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEW
Sydney United 58 snatched a much-needed win at Lambert Park last week to keep them
sixth heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, just a point behind fifth-placed Hakoah Sydney City East.
They return home to Sydney United Sports Centre on Saturday afternoon for a blockbuster clash against Manly United, who sit two points behind them in seventh.
Manly United suffered a 2-1 loss to Wollongong Wolves last week with heavy repercussions for their season; their defeat combined with results elsewhere meant they slipped from fourth place in Round 19 to two spots outside the five in Round 20.
A win for either side would almost certainly mean the end of the season for the other, while a draw would do little for either at this point. It promises to be a thriller.
