A new School Council executive was chosen at the September meeting. Our new chairperson is Carlene Wetthuhn, Vice Chair is Christina Nahirniak and the secretary is Taren Holden. September 28th was Harvest Day at Roundhill School. All of the students went over to the garden to pick vegetables, each taking a bag of vegetables home with them. I want to thank Mrs. Holden, Mrs. Ewald, Mrs. Bowal and Mrs Blouin for helping the students pick their vegetables. Our Run Club competed in the Spartan Run at New Norway last Wednesday. They all got a little muddy running through puddles but had an amazing day. Our Round Hill Eagles runners ran their hearts out and had some personal bests. We are so proud of all of you. Big Congratulations to Annika Holden in grade 3 who was 10th place out of all the runners in her category! Thanks to Kaden Ewald, who besides running his own race, helped Mrs. Nelson tremendously throughout the day. Junior volleyball has seven committed players this year. With only 20 students in junior high, that is 35% of our eligible students. This team is practicing Mondays and Wednesdays and will play exhibition games as they are not entered in the league. Pandemic measures are still in place at Roundhill School and our staff continues to work to keep our students safe. I want to thank all the families who have made the choice to keep your children at home when they are sick. This is so helpful to us! Some people have been calling and asking if RoundHill is in Outbreak status. We are not and never have been. AHS will declare an outbreak at schools that have at least two students who are diagnosed with Covid and have more than 10% of the students away from school, with most being away due to Covid-related issues. While there have been times over the past month when we have had 10% of our 95 students absent, the vast majority of these absences are for typical reasons. In closing, I would like to remind everyone that our Parent-Teacher interviews are on Thursday at the school.Call the school to book your appointment. I would like to remind those coming on Thursday to enter the school no more than 5 minutes prior to your appointment because we would like to limit the number of people in the school. As well, a simple reminder that our primary communication with home is via School Messenger.
