Spin a Yarn in Bovey Tracey are looking forward to a busy 2014 with the release of their spring workshop programme and two fashion shows featuring Rowan designers.
With 48 workshops, this is their busiest programme yet. Claire Crompton has added a selection of exciting new subjects such as Extreme Texture Knitting and Sweater Refashioning to her perennial favourites such as Professional Finishing and Essential Techniques for Novice Knitters. Anniken Allis also has some new, interesting topics – such as Norwegian Selbu Mittens and Fairisle & Steeking. They are also running their

Following the launch of our beautiful 100% Pure Linen yarn and our stunning Silkystones blend of 52% silk and 48% linen, we thought we would take a closer look

Linen has many qualities which make it an ideal choice for summer clothing, including its lightweight, cool characteristics, which enable an airy handle even in hot weather. It absorbs and releases moisture quickly compared to other fabrics, and repels
dye, meaning beautifully colour rich shades can be achieved.
Good quality linens are typically very smooth to touch and give a slight sheen. However, it is the durable nature of the thread which is its most notable feature. Flax
linen, as it does have a tendency to wrinkle and crease. Lightly spraying the fabric and ironing when damp can help reduce the chances of creasing.
