RPD Volunteer Program
Our volunteers expand services to the citizens of Raleigh that we would
otherwise be unable to provide. Our volunteers are integral components of
our Department.
Our Volunteers receive a structured 27 hour course taught by our trained instructors at the Police Academy. They also receive on the job training in specific assignments. The training comprises radio and mobile computer training, tactical communications, ethics, drug /gang awareness and report writing. It also includes driver training, as well as other training that may be job specific. Our main concerns are that our Volunteers remain safe and that they enjoy themselves.
The Raleigh Police Department is a nationally accredited agency.
