Renewable Energy

Oceanography and Meteorology

RPS is a leading oceanographic and meteorological consultancy providing world-class services in support of coastal and ocean engineering and environmental protection. We have more than 35 years experience in the collection, analysis, interpretation of application of metocean data.

Browse Basin LNG Marine Megafauna Monitoring Program, WA

RPS has been engaged to design and conduct extensive surveys of marine life along the west Kimberley coast for environmental impact assessment of LNG developments.

Our breadth of experience in the energy and resources sector spans three decades. Our clients include multinational, national and independent energy and resource companies, governments, independent operators, engineering and construction companies, industry associations, seismic data acquisition contractors and other infrastructure and asset owners.

Surat to Gladstone Pipeline, QLD

RPS managed the environmental impact assessment, including specialist studies, in support of regulatory approvals for the 470km long gas transmission pipeline proposed from the Surat Basin to Gladstone to transport coal seam gas to a planned liquefied natural gas plant.

Perth Waterfront, WA

RPS is the lead environmental consultancy for a major project to revitalise Perth’s Swan River shoreline led by the Department of Planning. This ‘city-defining’ initiative will connect the city to the river and deliver strong economic and social benefits.

Hunter Economic Zone, NSW

RPS’ ecological services facilitated the rezoning and provided a master plan and management plans for sustainable development of the Hunter Economic Zone, a 3200 hectare site located in the Lower Hunter (Kurri Kurri) which is set to become the largest industrial estate of its kind in New South Wales.

Gorgon LNG Project, WA

RPS has played a major role in conducting environmental studies and coordinating one of the largest EIAs ever undertaken in Australia for the nation’s biggest single resource project and one of the world’s largest natural gas projects. We continue to play a significant role coordinating environmental and quarantine management planning and leading marine and terrestrial baseline work.

RPS is involved in some of the Australia and Asia Pacific region’s most important and challenging infrastructure projects.

Abbot Point Coal Terminal, QLD

RPS is providing surveying services to assist the expansion of the Abbot Point Coal Terminal near Bowen. Employing specialist equipment to overcome jetty movement due to the port operation and sea activity, we have delivered services for the onshore storage and processing facilities and offshore loading components.

Williamtown Aerospace Park, NSW

RPS is managing the planning, cultural heritage and surveying of this 100 hectare site adjacent to Newcastle Airport and RAAF Base Williamtown. The park is expected to be one of the largest employers in the region, boosted by the RAAF Base providing a home for the next generation of fighter aircraft.

Perth to Mandurah Railway, WA

As principal environmental consultant to the Public Transport Authority, RPS provided environmental impact assessment of the proposed rail alignment and preliminary site investigations. From 2004 until project completion, RPS was the specialist environmental service provider for the New MetroRail City Project which included environmental auditing.

Infrastructure

UNSW Energy Technologies Building

This $90 million building will be a flagship research facility for the University of New South Wales, supporting research and teaching in key energy areas including photovoltaic, carbon capture and storage, oil and gas reservoir characterisation and nanomaterials. RPS provided planning services including preparing the environmental assessment and development application.

Airport Link, QLD

RPS is the principal urban designer and landscape architect for Airport Link in Brisbane, Australia’s largest Public Private Partnership and one of the nation’s largest road infrastructure projects. RPS’ scope of design works is extensive incorporating five precincts, each with individual character and identity. RPS also provided extensive pre-design survey services for the project route.

RPS’ planners, designers and surveyors are helping to create one of Australia’s finest communities north of Brisbane. Along with homes for 20,000 residents, North Lakes includes a town centre, retail shopping, dining, business parks, a championship golf course, a lake system, walkable networks, playground areas, childcare centres and primary and secondary schools.

Provence, WA

Provence is Busselton’s first masterplanned community, described as “a 21st Century coastal village inspired by centuries old provincial excellence”. RPS planners and designers are playing a key role in the establishment of this innovative community comprising three villages and a thriving civic heart.

Urban Growth

Emporium, QLD

RPS provided planning and survey services to transform an old 22 hectare bus terminal site in inner Brisbane into a landmark mixed-use development which incorporates a Parisian-style precinct. The development, which comprises seven buildings, ranging from two to eight storeys, around a vibrant village square, won the Queensland UDIA Award for Urban Renewal.

Torres Strait Sustainable Land Use, QLD

RPS’ extensive experience in remote indigenous communities coupled with the use of 3D replica models of the islands, facilitated robust community consultation and the successful preparation of Sustainable Land Use Plans for 15 Torres Strait Island communities.
