IINTRODUCTION

I On October 24, 2002, Bedrock Consulting was contracted by Roger Poulin :Consulting and Edgar Taillefer Sr. of Taillefer Exploration Ltd. to prepare a report on a recently conducted trenching program in the area of a d7corative stone quarry in Aylmer rrwp. : The trenching program consisted of 2 trenches and 9 pits. The location of this ~ork is shown on Map # 2. . The purpose of the program was to investigate the extent of the brecciated rock hud to determine the possible extension of previously recognized chalcopyrite mineralization.

lOCATION & ACCESS

\ The study area is located in Aylmer townsh~p one kilometer east of Sam Martin Lake, on claim 81247209 centred about VTM 17 NAD 27 co-ordinates 5179300E and f 190200N. The location is shown on the general index map las well as on the keymap ~n map 2. The site is located within the Sudbury Mining Recorders District. : Access to the site is obtained by traveling north of Cap reo I on Hwy 545 for 7.3 ~. then turning right on the gravel Portelance Road for 21.1 km. to the old Poupore Road. Turn right on the Poupore Road, cross the Wahnapetei River and travell1.7km to ~n old road off to the left. This is the westmost access road as shown on Map 2. Travelling an additional 1.3km eastward along the Poupore Rd. will bring bring you to the ,orth-south claim line between post 1 and 2. Post # I can be located 20 meters north in tjhe bush.

fROPERTY GEOLOGY .

I Gowganda Formation sedimentary rocks of It he Huronian Supergroup underlie the property. The majority of the rocks consist of conglomerate, siltstone and laminated siltstone. . • Three ovoid breccia pipes up to 60m in diarheter have intruded the sediments. The breccia consists of sedimentary angular fragments qf mostly siltstone frozen in a pink to {vhite carbonate matrix with about 10% voids. The p. reccia is believed to be related to at ~udden release of gasses from nearby major North -I South faults. Chalcopyrite and or pyrite are present in trace amounts as clots up to 3cm in size. The placement of the sulfides is probably hydrothermal in origin. The hydrothermal solutions have also formed frude 3-4mm quartz crystals at the contacts of the brecciaed fragments. I To the west and south of the main breccia pipes is a North - South fault about 2 ~eters in width. It is interpreted to strike about AZ, 290 and may have a dip of -40 ~egrees to the northeast. The rock in the fault is brecciated with fragments of siltstone cemented with white calcite matrix. Some areas are full ofvugs with well-formed lcm quartz crystals and chalcopyrite crystals to 3mm. Some alteration to bornite was noted.

fhe chalcopyrite mineralization is mostly in grains to 4mm and represents about 5% of

he breccia in the fault. This mineralization appears to be hydrothermal in origin. The abundance of open voids and calcite especially prevalent at the 'Quarry A"

site may be due to remobilized Espanola limestone which may underly the Gowganda Formation in the area.

I

. Quarry faces were in active production from 1965 to 1980. The rock was sold as 4ecorative stone and building stone. Two areas of the property were actively mined for ~his purpose. I Past exploration (1928 to 1965) on the property was focused on copper

$.Iineralization. See previous work above. I

i

EXAMINATION OF TRENCHES AND PITS

I . The locations and dimensions of the trenche~ and pits are shown and tabled on Map 2. GPS locates were taken at each excavation ~ong with measurements and Jompass bearings. A basemap previously prepared I by Roger Poulin was modified and ~sed to show the locations of the excavations.

trenCh 1 (Tl)

I This was the largest of the trenches see pho~ #1. It was dug along the face oft-he previous 'Quarry A', source of the 'Antique Copper' decorative stone. This trench ~xposed the outcrop along the lower portion of Qu~ face which consisted of silicified and albitized light tan coloured breccia. The breccia, containing light gray quartz and open

f' hite calcitic veins, was derived from thinly lamina· d wacke of the Gowganda ormation. The apparent hydrothermal alteration i illustrated by the change in colour om a green gray to beige colour. The base ofthis t ench contained angular broken rubble

from the previous workings. The rock in this area a peared to have the highest I

I 'french 2 (T2)

: This trench was also dug near the base of an iexisting cliff face from which decorative rock had been spalled. The rock from th~s site was marketed under the name 1" oodrock. Again th~ bedrock ~xpo~ed ,;as at the ~~se of th~s cliff and matche~ t?at of the exposed face. This rock while stdl bemg an albltlzed lammated wacke breccIa IS

different from that of Quarry A in that it lacks the abundance of open voids and white 9alcite. The colour is also slightly darker and may ~e the result of a less severe degree of albitization. Like trench 1 the bottom of this trench was in angular rubble of the cliff face I • 1 matena. i

fit 1 (PI)

I This pit as well as pit 2 and pit 3 are basically extensions of Trench 2. These pits

~ere all dug near the base of a cliff and talus rubble. Pit 1 contained outcrop of albitized ~ilicified wacke but was less brecciated and lacked the open voids found in Trench 1. i

Pit 2 P(2)

I No outcrop was observed in this pit. The pit was filled with rubble of both albitized wacke and the adjacent cliff rock of darker non albitized wacke. I

Pit 3 P(3)

l This was the most northerly of the pits near Trench 1. The bedrock wacke within t is pit was only slightly albitized, being a dark green gray with slight light gray aureoles ~ound the minor thin quartz veins observed.

~it 4 (P4) i

I '

i This pit is located near the intersection ofth~ road to Quarry 'B' and the Poupore Road. No outcrop was encountered in this pit and tnlY coarse poorly sorted gravel was

Jtit 5 (P5)

AhiS pit is located further up the Woodrock Quarry Road and was found to contain l~ated albitized rock. The degree of albitization ~as not as extensive as either of 1jrench 1 or 2. I

Pit 6 (P6)

I This was a small pit that contained a small *ea of outcrop of albitized wacke similar to that found in Pit 5. An old small pit exis~s on the other (East side) of the road which contain some chalcopyrite. No chalcopyrite ;was found in this pit. . I

~7~~ i This was another small pit. No outcrop was found in the pit. The infiBed

rconsolidated material being till. '

lit 8 (P8)

Again this pit contained only till with no outcrop observed.

I ~it 9 (P9)

. This was the last pit up the Woodrock Quarry Road and the nearest to Quarry 'IB'. No outcrop was observed in this pit. The pit being dug in clay.

€ONCLUSION

As a result of the above study the following is evident:

11) Open fractured rock is most abundant in the area of Trench 1. ~) There is an abundance of brecciated and non brecciated albitized laminated wacke found 1n the property with wide variations in color and tefture. These breccias have market '1alue for decorative stonework. Past production ha$ proven that this rock is sellable 011

$e industrial stone market. I

~ Minor copper as chalcopyrite has been noted on ~e prperty with the area around 'l[rench 2 observed to have the higher percentages. I .... ~) The limited trenching on the property was inadeq, uate to define the extent of the ,!arious rock types. I

fCOMMENDATIONS

n Complete a good geology map of the surface rock exposures to assess the areas of i breccia present for future exploitation for the inrstrial mineral market. It is worth

noting that chalcopyrite in the breccia will even ally make green malachite stains on the rock surfaces over a long period of time. Pyr te will make rust stains on the surface of the rocks. Mapping where the chalcopyrite and pyrite are present will help

! to choose the areas of mineral free breccia for futUre quarrying. 2) The mapping should consider l a) variations in degrees of albitization, silicifica ion and carbonatizaion I b) variations in degree of brecciation

c) structure should be mapped where possible!especially in the areas surrounding the brecciation to determine any faults, fold axis or domes. These structure may prove important hi determining new quarry Isites or extensions of new ones.

S) Test a few copper specimens for the presence of platinum or especially chalcophile ~al1adiwn. These metals could have migrated from ~earby gabbro sills, some of which pould be present at depth below the property. i i r) Any new showings of sulphides should be assa~fd for gold as some zones of filbitization have been noted to contain elevated gol~ values.
