1. INTRODUCTION

This report describes a V.L.F. (very low frequency) electromagnetic survey recently completed on the Noseworthy Township property for Orebay Resources. The survey was conducted by Michael Tremblay of 99 Elm St. S., Timmins, Ontario, during the period February 26 - March 4, 1987. The results are depicted on a plan in the back pocket of the report, plotted to a scale of 1:2500.

2. PROPERTY DESCRIPTION, LOCATION AND ACCESS

The property consists of sixteen contiguous unpatented mining claims in the Burntbush-Detour Lake metavolcanic belt. The claims straddle the east-west township line between Noseworthy and Hurtubise Townships.

The property is roughly sixty miles north-east of Cochrane, Ontario. Access 1s by winter road starting off the Trans Limit road running between Cochrane and La Sarre. During the summer months, the property can be accessed by helicopter only.

3. PROPERTY OWNERSHIP

The claims are registered under the names of E. Mord, of Connaught, Ontario, E. Korba, of Connaught, Ontario, E. Sicard, of Val Gagne, Ontario, and S. Woon, of 321 Maple St. N., Timmins, Ontario.

4. PREVIOUS EXPLORATION

There is no assessment work recorded on these claims at the Geoscience Data Centre 1n Toronto. The closest recorded work in the area 1s some reverse circulation overburden drilling by Esso Resources (January, 1986) to the west 1n Hoblitzell Township. No assays were reported from this work.

5. PROPERTY GEOLOGY

According to the Ontario Geological Survey Report 1199 [Johns, G.W., 1981, The Geology of the Burntbush-Detour Lake Area], the claim group is underlain by mafic metavolcanlcs. These are generally described as amphlbol1 zed massive flows and pillowed flows with minor tuffs, lappilll tuffs, pyroclastic breccias and feldspar porphyry flows. These are overlain by felsic to intermediate metavolcanics (commonly tuffs) 1n the north-east corner of the property. There 1s a north-north-westerly trending offset fault indicated on O.G.S. map 2453 accompanying the aforementioned report. It passes through the south-west corner of the property. The geology of the property 1s largely Inferred due to the acute lack of outcrop in the area. The overburden cover 1s extensive, ranging in thickness from twenty to two hundred feet. A diamond drill hole located on O.G.S. map 2142 (Data Series) roughly l mile north of the north-east corner of the property reported ultramafic flows and metasedlments with pyrite, pyrrottite and chalcopyrite under ninety-seven feet of overburden.

6. SURVEY DATA AND INSTRUMENTATION

The survey was carried out along chained and flagged lines measured in a north-south direction 100 meters apart. The lines were also tied into the Burntbush River which meanders through the west and south sections of the property.

Stations were read at twenty-five meter Intervals. A total of 37.3 kilometers of flagged lines were read, making a total of 1492 readings. The Geonics EM-16 V.L.F. (very low frequency) system utilizes powerful low frequency military transmissions as primary signals as opposed to portable transmitters in conventional E.M. methods.

The transmitter station used in the present survey 1s located at Cutler, Maine (24.0 KHZ). All readings were taken facing north.

The instrument has two receiving colls which measure the following vertical field components of secondary fields, set up in conductive bodies by the primary signal.

1) The vertical in-phaSe component (tilt angle)2) The vertical out-of-phase component (quadrature).

The transmitting station 1s selected so that the primary field is approximately at right angles to the strike of the geological structures. The vertical scale of the results on the plan is l cm. s 5fc.

The interpretation of the results uses the relative measurements of these two parameters and it 1s possible to outline such poor conductors as sheared contacts, or faults, as well as the good sulfide conductors.

7. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS

Numerous conductive trends have been identified by the survey, however, due to the presence of deep overburden and a lack of geological information, it 1s difficult to Infer which are true bedrock conductors. One way to identify at least some of the bedrock conductors is to have an associated anomalous magnetic response. Consequently, it is recommended that the next phase of the exploration program be a detailed ground magnetic survey.
