This is the first overview of projects related to housing rehabilitation of Iraq, compiled by UN-Habitat and Shelter Cluster. This overview includes housing rehabilitations, new housing / transitional shelters / refugee housing units, and cash for work for repairs of houses. Reporting gaps still exist, so the amount of housing rehabilitation projects is likely higher than the figures presented here. The overview below shows planned, ongoing and completed housing rehabilitation / new construction projects. About 50% of activities are planned, 20% ongoing and 30% completed. Initial figures suggest that the governorate with the most rehabilitation projects is Ninewa, with over 22.000 planned houses. Initial satellite damage assessments (Ministry of Planning & UN-Habitat in January 2018) suggested that the distribution of damage between governorate is approximately: Ninewa 65% / Anbar 20% / Salah al Din 10% / Diyala, Baghdad, Kirkuk 5%. Taking into consideration this distribution of damage, Salah al-Din has received comparatively few housing rehabilitation projects. Data of individual housing points is available on request through Shelter Cluster and UN-Habitat. This overview of projects in Ninewa shows that a significant amount of assessments have been conducted in Ninewa, including in small villages in the Ninewa Plains. Nevertheless, most housing rehabilitation projects are targeted in Mo-sul, with some exceptions of the Sinjar area. Initial reporting also suggests that there is in particular a gap of housing rehabilitation projects in the Tel Affar area, which has been significantly damaged by the retaking operations as well. About 70% of rehabilitation / new construction in Ninewa are planned, 20% of housing rehabilitation projects com-pleted and 10% ongoing.
