Raising Student Voice and
Participation (RSVP)
Summit Training
RSVP is a district-wide club that aims to empower the entire student body
to identify issues in their schools and communities.
It provides the students with the opportunity to take action and resolve
the issues they’ve identified.
What is RSVP?
We will organize and facilitate two school-wide summits in which 2 facilitators will be assigned one
classroom and will then gather the students’ thoughts and concerns
about the campus.
How Will We Do It?
We need people like you who are comfortable to talk in
front of a group and facilitate a lively, positive discussion.
Who Do We Need?
Focus Question: “What is on your mind?”
During this summit, facilitators should ask students what concerns they have.
Their concerns should cover these three categories: Social, Facility, and
Community.
SUMMIT 1: Voice
After Summit 1, facilitators will participate in a short debriefing about what did or did not go well during the
summit. Later, the leadership team will pool the information and decide the top issue that we will present to the principal and to the students at
the next summit.
WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE INFORMATION?
Focus Questions: “What should we do about it?”
“What is your response to the plan, and how can we make our plan a reality?”
Students will develop a realistic timeline to implement change and may assign specific
volunteers to carry out the timeline efficiently.
SUMMIT 2: Recommendations & Implementation
The leadership team will create a draft of the Civic Action Plan
from the recommendations of the summit groups, present the draft
to the principal, and after discussions, create a final draft and implement the timeline.
WHAT NOW?
The summits will be held on assembly schedule during 4th period
Summit 1: 40-45 minutesSummit 2: 40-45 minutes
