TaskRabbit Handbook
The TaskRabbit Credo We’re entrepreneurs. We decide when we want to work and how much we want to bid for each Task.
We master every single Task because we love to make TaskPosters say “wow.” If things go wrong, we make them right.
We’re awesome communicators because being that way makes every Task better. We know how to listen and ask the right questions, and TaskPosters love us for it.
We think creatively to solve little problems before they become big problems. We’re trustworthy, not just because we’ve been vetted through formal channels, but because we’re dedicated professionals on a mission. We’re part of the movement working toward building a more collaborative economy. We’re friendly neighbors, and we’re working hard to bring back that neighborhood spirit to our communities.
We have the right to safe Tasking environments, respectful interactions with TaskPosters, and support from TaskRabbit Member Services. There are thousands of stories in the TaskRabbit community and we’re the heroes of them all.
Tasking From Start to FinishFeel like you need a roadmap? Check out these step-by-step tips to help you get Tasks and complete them, smoothly and efficiently.
Choose a Task to bid onBrowse and select Tasks based on when they were posted (Newest or Expiring Soon) or by Task Categories (Grocery, Delivery, Handyman). Or choose Tasks based on how many points you’ll receive (see Points and Levels)!
Bidding on a Task means that you understand the expectations and can meet them to the TaskPoster’s satisfaction. Ask yourself these questions before you bid.

TaskRabbit Handbook
TimeHow long will this Task take me? What is my time worth to me?
DifficultyHow difficult is this Task? Do I have the proper tools and skills to complete it?
DistanceIs this Task within a reasonable distance from me?
ClarityDo I really understand what the TaskPoster is asking or do I need to clarify before bidding?
FeasibilityCan I actually complete this Task from start to finish? Have I anticipated any logistical issues that may arise?
ExpensesWhat extra expenses might be involved?
ScheduleWhen does the Task occur? Does it overlap with other appointments?
You’re ready, go bid!• When you bid, the TaskPoster will see a slightly
higher price. Watch for the small note under the
price you’re entering to see what price the
TaskPoster might see.
• If your TaskPoster chose auto-assign, your
bid may be selected if you’re the quickest bidder
under the TaskPoster’s desired price.
• If you have conditions that change the original
Task in any way, wait for a response from the
TaskPoster before making a bid.
• If the TaskPoster wants to work with you, but wants
to negotiate, they might send you a counter offer.
2TaskRabbit Handbook
How does pricing work? Visit our Pricing page to learn more.?Your PayYou bid $24 for a Task and get
assigned to complete it. You’ll receive
the entire amount of your bid in your
TaskRabbit account when the Task is
marked complete.
$24.00
Service FeeThe TaskPoster sees a bid that
has our Service Fee built in. The fee is
based on a sliding scale — the higher the
TaskPrice, the lower the service fee. In this
example, they would see a bid of $30.
$6.00Expenses You receive expenses related to
the Task through the website. These
costs are added to the TaskPoster’s final
TaskPrice and are not subject to a service
fee. Let’s say you spent $10 on flowers.
$10.00
The TaskPoster’s final payment will be
$40.00
Your bid is accepted• Make contact with the TaskPoster. It’s your responsibility to get in
contact with your TaskPoster as soon as possible.

Other ways you could be hired
Recurring TasksMany TaskPosters set up
Recurring Tasks for things they
need done frequently, like
grocery shopping. Once you're
committed to a Recurring Task,
you'll receive emails to remind
you to get it done each time.
Multiple TaskRabbitsSome Tasks require multiple
TaskRabbits to be completed.
Even after a TaskPoster decides
to work with you, you'll have to
wait until the other TaskRabbits
are on board before completing
the Task.
Direct HiringOnce you develop great
relationships with your
TaskPoster clients, you can
encourage them to hire you
directly through the button on
your TaskRabbit profile.

Start Task
Mark it complete and get paidAfter you mark the Task complete, the TaskPoster will be notified to close the Task. Once that
happens, your fee and expense reimbursement will be deposited into your TaskRabbit Account.
If your TaskPoster forgets to close the Task it will be auto-closed 72 hours after you mark it
complete and your out-of-pocket expenses will be automatically approved.
Once your account has a balance of at least $25, a Withdraw link will appear – just click on it to
issue a payment. To access your account balance, click the dropdown menu (top right corner of
the website) next to your picture and select My Account.
You can get paid in one of two ways:
Payment by CheckTaskRabbit issues payments every Friday, so you’ll get the speediest payment if you
withdraw your funds by THURSDAY at 8pm. Allow five to seven business days (after
the Friday it’s issued) for your check to arrive.
Payment by PayPalTaskRabbit also allows you to be paid through PayPal. For faster payments, just use
your PayPal email address for withdrawls. These payments are processed before the
end of the day on Tuesdays and Fridays and may take three to four days on top of our
processing period to reach your bank account (depending on your bank). For even
quicker payment, get one of PayPal’s free debit cards.
NOTE: We wait three days to
process all payments. This ensures
that any issues, like reimbursements
or disputes, are addressed before the
funds are put in your account.
5TaskRabbit Handbook
You can withdraw your total account balance, or just a portion. You can also use your credits toward posting Tasks!
Adding Out-of-Pocket Expenses• When you mark your Task complete, be sure to include “out-of-pocket expenses.” Only include items that
you and your TaskPoster agreed on — extra fees shouldn’t surprise them.
• Some examples of out-of pocket expenses are $20 for groceries, $150 on an IKEA chair, $75 on a costume
rental you wore at an event. Things that aren’t typically considered out-of-pocket expenses: rental trucks, gas,
bridge tolls.
• Make sure to always get a receipt. Keep a copy or take a picture for your own records, and give the
TaskPoster the original.
6 Surveys, Reviews, and FeedbackYour feedback and reviews help us continue to have a healthy, happy, thriving community. Thanks for doing your part.
A Task is rated by the TaskPoster. The TaskPoster has an opportunity to leave a rating and review of their personal experience for a Task, so make sure you blow them away with awesome service!
You also have a chance to rate your TaskPoster. Once the Task has been closed and paid, you have the opportunity to rate your experience with your TaskPoster. The rating will be factored into the TaskPoster’s average star rating on the site.
TaskRabbit Handbook
Where’s My Tax Form?April 15th rolls around each year for each one of us. When you’re ready to do your taxes, download your Transaction History so you can see what you made for the year. In your My Account section there’s a direct link to your Transaction History in the pull-down menu.
All TaskRabbits are independent contractors. If you’re paid via check and have made more than $600 a year through TaskRabbit, we’ll email you W-9 form. Once we receive a completed W-9 from you, we will then send the 1099 form you need to file your taxes.
Due to a recent change in IRS regulations, we’re not sending 1099-MISC forms for payments withdrawn through PayPal even if you made more than $600 last year. Any tax information or paperwork you require should be processed through PayPal.
More information can be found here:http://payroll.intuit.com/support/kb/2001238.html?cid=1099_em

This is how we describe ourselves: How would you do it?
“TaskRabbit is a web and mobile marketplace that safely and reliably connects people and businesses with fully vetted people in their community to get everyday and skilled Tasks done.”
Like this? “TaskRabbit is an online and mobile marketplace
where you can outsource your everyday Tasks
to background-checked individuals in your
neighborhood.”
Or this? “TaskRabbits take care of things that you don’t
have time to do or can’t do.”
Or this? “A place to outsource your To-Dos to those in
your community, for example...”
General Dos, Don’tsTaskRabbit Handbook
Please Do Please Don’t• Take yourself and your Tasks seriously
and always act in a professional manner.
• Bid on Tasks that could benefit from yourspecialized skill set, and be sure to sell yourself in the comments.
• Bid on a Task only if you understand the expectations and you can meet them to the TaskPoster’s satisfaction.
• Be prepared for the Task at hand andclarify who’s providing supplies.
• Remind the TaskPoster to pay youthrough the marketplace, not in cash.
• Check your calendar before you bid toensure you’re available.
• Contact Member Services any timeyou have a question or concern.
• Bail on Tasks or be disrespectful toanyone in the community.
• Hesitate to help out other TaskPosters and TaskRabbits by asking and answeringquestions in the support forum.
• Bid on a Task if you know you don’t havethe skill set to complete it.
• Get stuck renting a lawn mower when theTaskPoster said they had one.
• Forget to keep your receipts for easyreimbursement.
• Mark a Task complete before it’s finished
• Forget to let us know when we’ve madeyour job easier. We love good reviews.
Some Tasks deal with sensitive information, so please always keep confidentiality and privacy in mind.
TaskRabbit Handbook
Protect YourselfPlease take all the necessary steps you need to ensure your safety while Tasking. Aside from using your common sense, ask yourself these questions for every Task:
• Do I have the skills needed to complete this Task?
• Do I have a Tasking routine to protect myself? Do I text a friend so someone knowswhere I am and/or document interactions with the TaskPosters via email?
• Does this Task include a lot of money up front or a credit card purchase?
• Am I sure this is legal?
• Does this Task seem suspicious to me?
• Is the TaskPoster asking me to do a different or an additional Task?
• Does it make sense that this Task is posted on TaskRabbit?
HINT: If you’d like to keep your phone number private, set up a Google voice number.
Safety is Our #1 ConcernWe can’t bring back that old time neighborhood feel if people don’t feel safe.
• If at ANY TIME you feel like you’re putting yourself in harm’s way by doing
the Task, please stop and call us immediately at 888-661-8105.
• If you see a Task on the site that could put other TaskRabbits in harm’s
way, we’d appreciate it if you let us know. Flag it as inappropriate using
the link on the Task page, and we’ll take the proper action.
• Remember that you operate as an independent contractor and liability rests
with you, so play it safe.
FAQsHave more questions? Visit our FAQ page or our support forum.
Can I accept cash payment?Only for any out-of-pocket expenses and tips you might be getting. Your TaskPayment must be paid
through TaskRabbit.com. Remember that if a TaskPoster hands you a check or cash, it’s your job to make
sure they know that this is in addition to the TaskPayment, which is to be paid only through the site. If
you are paid in cash, we reserve the right to remove any extra payments in your TaskRabbit Account.
Are there any protocols for doing Tasks that involve gift card or cash pick-up?Yes, protect yourself by asking for the reimbursement amount upfront for these purchases. It’s important for
you to protect yourself from any situations that make you feel uncomfortable. If you see a Task that seems
suspicious, flag it and don’t bid on it.
What if I don’t fully understand the Task that is posted?Ask questions first, bid later. If you have questions, add a comment. Asking questions helps a TaskPoster
understand which details to include in the future, and helps clarify things for your fellow TaskRabbits. If the
Task is illegal or inappropriate, flag it. If you need to withdraw a bid, let us know and we’ll try to help you out.
I got assigned to a Task. Now what?Awesome! You thoughtfully bid and were accepted. Now you’re required to complete the Task. You should
contact the TaskPoster immediately (within one hour of being assigned, or first thing in the morning if it’s late).
What if the TaskPoster wants to cancel the Task on the website and asks me to work on the same Task off-site?Politely decline. TaskRabbit is offering you access to our customers and providing you the platform to get
paid for your services and get valuable support when you need it. Taking TaskPosters and the Tasks they
need completed off-site will result in the loss of access to our network. Plus, it’s not very neighborly.
I received a warning email from the Policies Department, what gives?Doing things like taking cash payment, closing a Task before it’s finished, being unprofessional, or violating
the TaskRabbit Credo in any other way will result in warnings. Just keep the Credo in mind and you’ll be fine.
Can I send my husband/wife/boyfriend/second cousin/co-worker to do my Task?Sorry, TaskPosters want to see your smiling face, not anyone else’s. TaskPosters trust that all of the
TaskRabbits on the site are vetted and background-checked so please don’t send someone that hasn’t
gone through our vetting process. If they’re not a TaskRabbit yet, share the love and have them sign up!
Remember to give them your PAL code.
What if I need to cancel the Task due to a conflict or emergency?Make contact with your TaskPoster first to try to reschedule. If you can’t, let your TaskPoster know and use the
Cancel Task link on the Task page. This will send a cancellation request to our Operations Team.
