CDW is a Fortune 500 company and a leading provider of integrated information technology (“IT”) solutions in the U.S. and Canada. We help our customer base of more than 250,000 small, medium and large business, government, education and healthcare customers by delivering critical solutions to their increasingly complex IT needs. Our broad array of offerings range from discrete hardware and software products to integrated IT solutions such as mobility, security, data

center optimization, cloud computing, virtualization and collaboration. Our product portfolio includes more than 100,000 products from more than 1,000 brands. We provide these solutions through a large and experienced sales force and service delivery team consisting of more than 4,300 coworkers, including nearly 1,400 highly skilled technology specialists and engineers.

We are a leading U.S. sales channel partner for many original equipment manufacturers (“OEMs”) and software publishers (collectively, our “vendor partners”), whose products we include in our offerings. We believe we are an important extension of our vendor partners' sales and marketing capabilities, providing them with a cost-effective way to reach customers and maintain a consistent brand experience through our established end-market coverage and extensive customer access. In 2014, we generated over $1 billion of revenue for three of our vendor partners and over $100 million of revenue for an additional 12 of our vendor partners. Our annual net sales for 2014 was $12.07 billion.

We provide value to our customers by simplifying the complexities of technology across design, selection, procurement, integration and management. Our goal is to have our customers, regardless of size, view us as an indispensable extension of their IT staffs. We seek to achieve this goal by providing our customers with superior service through our large and experienced sales force and service delivery teams. Our multi-brand offering approach, which is not limited to any particular brand or product technology, enables us to identify the products or combination of products that best address each customer's specific organizational IT requirements.

Our customers include private sector businesses that typically employ fewer than 5,000 employees, government agencies and educational and healthcare institutions. We serve our customers through service delivery teams and channel-specific sales teams with extensive technical skills and knowledge of the specific markets they serve. This market segmentation allows us to customize our offerings for our customers, which often do not have the expertise or resources to effectively evaluate and to optimally implement IT solutions. We currently have five dedicated customer channels: small business, medium/large business, government, education and healthcare, each of which generated over $12.07billion in net sales in 2014. The scale and diversity of our customer channels provides us with multiple avenues for growth and a balanced customer base to weather economic and technology cycles.

Russellville City Schools Board of Education

    ALJP Mini-Bid#: 189CAT2-2015

General Requirements: The Russellville City School System (RCS) is requesting mini-bids for the following listed product lines (Groups). This RFP is a multi-year request for e-rate Category 2 hardware that is listed as an eligible services and filed on e-rate Form 470 Application # 674860001106114. All participating vendors that respond must have a valid USAC SLD SPIN #. The intent of this Mini-Bid is to upgrade and expand the district’s local area networks (LAN) and Wireless (WLAN) footprint. All equipment being request supports the infrastructure requirements to meet the needs at the schools and is intended to be implemented district wide at all 4 instructional facilities. Prices should be fixed for the duration of the agreement with the exception of discontinued products or equipment changes. The products being request are in three groups and while it is our intent to award this to a single vendor certain circumstances may warrant a different vendor per group. The district reserves the right to accept or deny any product changes, substitutions or price adjustments.

    Orders:

All quantities specified are estimates of what we intend to purchase if funding is approved. The district

reserves to the right to modify any such quantities as needed without penalty from the vendor. The

amounts are not guaranteed until final purchase orders are issued to acquire products. There is no date

estimate as to when we will issue purchases orders other than after July 1, 2015 if funding is approved.

Vendors agree to deliver products in an acceptable time frame which is typically 30-60 days after receipt

of order to the district’s designated location.

Billing: E-rate funding is being sought to pay for products if approved by USAC SLD. The district will work with the awarded vendor on how billing will be handled and if the district will take pre-discounts or file BEAR forms. Shipping: All prices must include shipping cost for the total estimated order amounts specified. Compatibility: RCS will be the sole judge in determining compatibility of equivalent or compatible products that are offered in lieu of specified equipment requested.

    AWARD:

Pricing for e-rate eligible products/services will be the most heavily weighted factor in deciding the

award, however, it is not the policy of RCS to purchase on the basis of low bid only. The critical nature of

these services requires that RCS carefully examine each proposal.

RCS will consider the total cost of implementing each proposal. This might include the cost of facility

modifications, installation expenses, and equipment that the Bidder’s proposal requires of RCS to make

at its expense. RCS reserves the right to accept or reject each of the groups independently.

RCS reserves the right to seek clarification of information submitted in response to this Mini-Quote

and/or to request additional information during the evaluation process.

    Award Matrix Scoring

    Description Weight Notes

    Costs of Hardware, Licensing, Services,

and/or installation 45% Based on all eRate eligible costs according to the SLD’s 2015 ESL.

    Additional Costs to System for

    Implementation 20%

Based on all costs and expenses that RCS would assume, including

ineligible eRate installation, costs associated with preparing sites to

accept service, and equipment the System would be required to

purchase in order to successfully install the WLAN

equipment/services, training and conversion costs, if any.

    Single vendor servicing all groups

Maintenance of effort ‘expenses’ may also be considered to be

expenses incurred by RCS. This includes, but is not limited to: the

amount of time the System’s network administrators will need to

devote to learning and configuring a new system if an existing WLAN

technology already exists, as well as any new professional

development burdens RCS will encounter due to the change, any

efforts RCS may need to make to remove the current equipment,

and other such maintenance of effort effects of making a change

    Quality of Proposed Services 35%

Quality of coverage, signal strength, and WLAN design.

Group 1: Wireless Access Points, accessories & controller

RCS schools require the following listed products or equivalent for deployment of wireless network. Pricing for wireless access points should include cost for Cloud-hosted controller and/or Centralized, System-hosted controller (hardware or virtual appliance) with a minimum 5 years of access point management, support and include standard limited lifetime hardware warranty. Any additional accessories required to mount access point to a standard drop ceiling should be included and can be included in base cost or added as line item. All currently available license associated with quoted access points should be included for a minimum of 5 years. Installation cost if included should be an optional component and should be broken out separately and assume use of existing category 6 network cable. On-site training of access point management controller of at least 8 hours should be included in the base cost. Page 7 of 10

Two other sections of the law require business entities and employers with one or more employees working in Alabama to utilize the E-Verify program for newly hired employees as a condition of a contact, grant, or incentive awarded by a public entity on or after Jan uary 1, 2012 through the competitive bidding process. {See Section 31-13-9(a) & (b) and Section 31-13-25(b)}. Alabama laws (see Title 31, Chapter 13 of the Code of Alabama 1975) require that, as a condition for the award of a contract* by a school board to a business entity or employer with one or more employees working in Alabama; the business entity or employer must provide documentation of enrollment in the E-Verify program. During the performance of the contract, the business entity or employer shall participate in the E-Verify program and shall verify every employee that is required to be verified according to the applicable federal rules and regulations. The contractor’s E-Verify Memorandum of understanding must be included with the bid. If you do not believe these requirements are applicable to your entity, include an explanation justifying such exemption. An entity can obtain the E-Verify Memorandum of understanding upon completion in the E-Verify enrollment process located at the federal web site www.uscis.gov/everify. The Alabama Department of Homeland Security (http://immigration.alabama.gov) has also established an E-Verify employer agent account for any business entity or employer with 25 or fewer employees that will provide a participating business entity or employer with the required documentation of enrollment in the E-Verify program. An Employer Identification Number (EIN), also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number, is required to enroll in E-Verify or to establish on E-Verify employer agent account.

*Act 2012-491 defines the term contract as, “…a contract awarded by the state, any political subdivision thereof, or any state-funded entity that was competitively bid …”

  • Executive Summary Juniper offers a proven solution such that can be deployed as a cost-effective family of switches that delivers the high availability, unified communications, integrated security and operational excellence needed today, while also providing a platform for supporting requirements in the future.

Juniper has a broad, deep and successful track record in delivering Data Center technology that is easy to deploy and manage which is both reliable and cost effective, along with software and services to manage the network in a virtualized data center environment.

Juniper Networks has a strong footprint and track record within the K-12 market. Several K-12 schools throughout the country use Juniper switching portfolio solutions. For example, Cherokee County Schools, Dalton Public Schools and Bibb County Schools all run on Juniper Networks.

The Juniper switch solution offers an innovative alternative to the cost and complexity of managing a legacy network.

Our solution will help lower your total cost of ownership through a flatter design, with a single Networking OS, common management structure and will reduce the space, power and cooling requirements.

Juniper solutions are designed to deliver scalable port density and performance, providing users with an economical pay-as-you-grow approach to building a flexible and high performance network.

Juniper provides the following key business benefits:-

    • Business Continuity - No disruption of critical services when upgrades are required; fewer physical devices to manage and reduced blast radius.

    • Lower Cost of Ownership - Reduce operations overhead, increased return on security investments, and improve continuity of operations, to deliver the most effective high latency network and capability available.

    • Business Agility - Comprehensive automation and provisioning capabilities to provide increased business agility and reduced time to market for new services.

    • Pay As You Grow – Juniper’s solution uses the latest QFX switch technology (QFX5100) based around 1RU and 2RU switch platforms enabling a true pay as you grow model.

    • Financial Options – Juniper proposes traditional capex pricing models as well as flexible pay as you go and FMV leasing.

    • Green Savings – Substantial quantifiable savings on power and rack space.

    • Simplified Operations - Rich automated solutions that help eliminate complexities by streamlining Data Centre operations for network provisioning, management, and orchestration. Fujitsu can improve network response times while requiring fewer resources.

    • Cost Performance - Juniper is a pure play organization with significant investment back into R & D, delivering cutting edge products at a lower cost of ownership and procurement cost.

  • Technical Summary The Juniper Networks technology solution offers a reliable, repeatable, secure and scalable network that reduces the current physical footprint and meets requirements for today, while scaling to meet requirements in the future.

    • Flexibility - Our solution is ultimately flexible; with virtual-chassis fabric enabling software defined switch boundaries allowing the hardware to provide L2/L3 services today with a long roadmap through to secure full SDN implementation.

    • Network Virtualization – our virtual Chassis technology enables multiple switches to be interconnected and operate as a single system. Users get the reliability, availability, and high-port densities of traditional chassis-based systems in a cost-effective, compact form factor.

    • Scalability - Our solution is scalable from one virtual chassis fabric of two switches to 32 switches per Virtual Chassis Fabric (VCF) , which can be replicated into a series of VCF’s to meet the forthcoming implementation of virtual servers, also allowing implementation of an elastic service to meet changing requirements without the need for large upfront capital costs.

    • Simplicity - Reduced network complexity through a single operating system, the reduction in the number of control planes and management points across the solution and a standardization of native 1/10/40GbE connectivity.

    • Resiliency
- Our solution is resilient at component, chassis, and architectural level. Furthermore, Juniper equipment is built to carrier grade quality with In Service Software Upgrades (ISSU), ensuring no disruption of business critical service when upgrades are required in the switch infrastructure.

    • Reliability - Our solution leverages much of the same field-proven Juniper Carrier technology―including high performance ASICs, system architecture and Junos software―that powers the world’s largest service provider networks. The result is a robust, time-tested and highly reliable infrastructure solution for high performance networking.

    • Data Center Savings – By utilizing switches that are 1RU in size, the Juniper solution reduces space and power consumption but increases the scale and size of the services that can be supported and developed.

    • Interoperability – Our solution is fully standards compliant and, due to our Open API’s, can work with legacy hardware and other vendors as required to support migration from your current estate. We will fully support and plan your migration in an incremental

  • fashion. We also ensure complete configuration and testing prior to deployment.

    • Management - Junos Space is a comprehensive Network Management Solution that simplifies and automates management of Juniper’s switching, routing, and security devices. Junos Space consists of a network management platform for deep element and FCAPS management, plug-n-play management applications for reducing costs and provisioning new services quickly, and a programmable SDK for network customization. With each of these components working cohesively, Junos Space offers a unified network management and orchestration solution.

Proposed Solution for Russellville City Schools

    QFX5100: Overview

The highly flexible, high-performance Juniper Networks QFX5100 line of switches provides the foundation for today’s and tomorrow’s dynamic data center. As a critical enabler for IT transformation, the data center network supports cloud and software-defined networking (SDN) adoption, as well as rapid deployment and delivery of applications. Mission-critical applications, network virtualization, and integrated or scale-out storage are driving the need for more adaptable networks. With its diverse set of deployment options, including fabric, Layer 3, and spine and leaf, the QFX5100 is the universal building block for data center switching architectures, enabling users to easily adapt as requirements change over time.

The QFX5100 line includes 10GE and 40GE fixed-configuration options with rich Layer 2, Layer 3, and MPLS features. The QFX5100 runs the same reliable, high-performance Juniper Networks Junos OS that is used by Juniper Networks QFabric family of products, EX Series Ethernet Switches, Juniper Networks routers, and Juniper Networks SRX Series Services Gateways, ensuring a consistent implementation and operation of control plane features across the entire Juniper Networks infrastructure.

Featuring a built-in Insight Technology capability, the QFX5100 provides valuable performance and troubleshooting data via microburst monitoring and hotspot statistics. The QFX5100 can also be used as a high-performance QFabric Node in Juniper Networks highscale QFabric System, deployed in Juniper Networks new Virtual Chassis Fabric switching architecture, and installed in Juniper Networks existing Virtual Chassis switching architecture.

Virtual Chassis TechnologyThe EX3300 supports Juniper Networks Virtual Chassis

technology, allowing up to 10 switches to be interconnected

over uplink ports and be managed as a single logical device,

delivering a scalable, pay-as-you-grow solution for expanding

    network environments.

When deployed in a Virtual Chassis configuration, the EX3300

switches elect a master and backup switch based on a

set of criteria or preconfigured policies. The master switch

automatically creates and updates the switching and optional

routing tables on all switches in the Virtual Chassis configuration.

Virtual Chassis technology allows switches to be added or

removed without service disruption. An EX3300 Virtual Chassis

configuration operates as a highly resilient unified system,

providing simplified management using a single IP address,

single telnet session, single command-line interface (CLI),

automatic version checking, and automatic configuration. The

EX3300 switches are also capable of local switching, so that

packets coming into a port destined for another port on the same

switch do not have to traverse the Virtual Chassis, increasing the

    forwarding capacity of the switch.

The EX3300 implements the same slot/module/port numbering

schema as other Juniper Networks chassis-based products

when numbering Virtual Chassis ports, providing true chassis-like

operations. By using a consistent operating system and a single

configuration file, all switches in a Virtual Chassis configuration

are treated as a single device, simplifying overall system

    maintenance and management.

Figure 1: EX3300 Virtual Chassis connections

The last two uplink ports on the EX3300 front panel are

configured by default as Virtual Chassis ports, automating Virtual

Chassis deployments when these ports are connected using

standard 10GbE SFP+ or GbE SFP transceivers (sold separately).

These two ports can also be configured as GbE or 10GbE uplinks

to aggregation devices by disabling Virtual Chassis technology.

Converged LAN EnvironmentsThe EX3300 switches provide a flexible solution for demanding

converged data, voice, and video environments. The EX3300-24P

and EX3300-48P support the IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet

(PoE) standard, also known as PoE+, delivering up to 30 watts of

power per port to support networked devices such as telephones,

video cameras, IEEE 802.11n wireless LAN (WLAN) access points,

and video phones. The PoE+ standard provides nearly double the

15.4 watts per port available with the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard.

Figure 2: EX3300 campus wiring closet deployments

The EX3300-48P includes a total PoE power budget of 740

watts, enabling the switch to provide the full 15.4 watts of

802.3af Class 3 PoE to all 48 ports, or the full 30 watts of PoE+

to 24 ports. The switch can support any combination of PoE and

PoE+ ports until the maximum PoE power budget of 740 watts is

    exhausted.

The EX3300-24P includes a total power budget of 405 watts,

enabling the switch to provide the full 15.4 watts of PoE power to

all 24 ports, or the full 30 watts of PoE+ to 13 attached devices.

The switch can support any combination of PoE and PoE+ ports

until the maximum PoE power budget of 405 watts is exhausted.

There are two PoE power mode settings on the EX3300 switches:

    • Static mode, which allows customers to specify the

maximum PoE power setting on an individual port

    • Class mode, which allows end devices to specify PoE class

and negotiate whether the switch can provide PoE power to

    the device

The EX3300 also supports the industry-standard Link Layer

Discovery Protocol (LLDP) and LLDP-Media Endpoint Discovery

(LLDP-MED), which enable the switches to automatically

discover Ethernet-enabled devices, determine their power

requirements, and assign virtual LAN (VLAN) parameters. LLDP-

MED-based granular PoE management allows the EX3300 to

negotiate PoE usage down to a fraction of a watt on powered

devices, enabling more efficient PoE utilization across the switch.

The EX3300 supports the Institute of Electrical and Electronics

Engineers (IEEE) 802.3az standard for Energy Efficient Ethernet

(EEE) functionality, reducing power consumption of copper

physical layers (PHY) during periods of low link utilization.

In addition, the EX3300 supports rich quality-of-service (QoS)

functionality for prioritizing data, voice, and video traffic. The

switches support eight QoS queues on every port, enabling them to

maintain multilevel, end-to-end traffic prioritization. The EX3300

also supports a wide range of scheduling options, such as priority

and shaped deficit weighted round-robin (SDWRR) scheduling.

An optional enhanced license for supporting additional L3

protocols such as OSPF, Internet Group Management Protocol

(IGMP v1/v2/v3), and Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) will

be supported in future. An external redundant power system

(RPS) delivering additional power resiliency is also available.

Data Center Gigabit Ethernet Server AccessThe EX3300 switches are optimized for GbE server access

deployments in the data center, with front-to-back and back-

to-front cooling. The four SFP+ uplink ports on the EX3300 can

operate at 10 Gbps simultaneously, offering up to 20GbE of uplink

connectivity to each of the dual aggregation switches.

Figure 3: Data center top-of-rack deployments

SecurityThe EX3300 switches fully interoperate with Juniper Networks

Unified Access Control, which consolidates all aspects of a user’s

identity, device, and location, enabling administrators to enforce

access control and security down to the individual port or user

levels. Working as an enforcement point within the UAC, the

    EX3300 provides both standards-based 802.1X port-level access

control and Layer 2-4 policy enforcement based on user identity,

location, and/or device. A user’s identity, device type, machine

posture check, and location can be used to not only grant or deny

access but also to determine the duration of access. If access is

granted, the switch assigns the user to a specific VLAN based on

authorization levels. The switch can also apply QoS policies or

mirror user traffic to a central location for logging, monitoring, or

threat detection by intrusion prevention systems (IPS).

The EX3300 also provides a full complement of port security

features, including Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)

snooping, dynamic ARP inspection (DAI), and media access control

(MAC) limiting to defend against internal and external spoofing,

    man-in-the-middle, and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks.

In addition, the EX3300 switches are hardware ready (with

software support available in a future release) to support

IEEE 802.1ae MACSec, providing support for link layer data

confidentiality, data integrity, and data origin authentication.

    Data SheetEX3300 Ethernet Switch

Junos Operating SystemThe EX3300 switches run the same Junos OS used by other EX

Series Ethernet Switches, as well as Juniper routers and Juniper

Networks SRX Series Services Gateways. By utilizing a common

operating system, Juniper delivers a consistent implementation

and operation of control plane features across all products.

To maintain that consistency, Junos OS adheres to a highly

disciplined development process that uses a single source code,

follows a single quarterly release train, and employs a highly

available modular architecture that prevents isolated failures

from bringing an entire system down.

These attributes are fundamental to the core value of the

software, enabling all Junos OS-powered products to be updated

simultaneously with the same software release. All features are

fully regression tested, making each new release a true superset

of the previous version; customers can deploy the software

with complete confidence that all existing capabilities will be

maintained and operate in the same way.

High AvailabilityThe EX3300 line of Ethernet switches is designed to support

many of the same failover capabilities and high availability (HA)

functionality as the Juniper Networks EX4200 line of Ethernet

    switches with Virtual Chassis technology.

Each EX3300 switch is capable of functioning as a Routing

Engine when deployed in a Virtual Chassis configuration. When

two or more EX3300 switches are interconnected in a Virtual

Chassis configuration, all member switches share a single control

plane. Junos OS automatically initiates an election process to

assign a master (active) and backup (hot-standby) Routing

Engine. An integrated Layer 2 and Layer 3 graceful Routing Engine

switchover (GRES) feature maintains uninterrupted access to

applications, services, and IP communications in the unlikely

event of a master Routing Engine failure.

When more than two switches are interconnected in a Virtual

Chassis configuration, the remaining switch elements act as line

cards and are available to assume the backup Routing Engine

position should the designated master fail. Master, backup

and line card priority status can be assigned by the network

operations team to dictate the order of ascension. This N+1

Routing Engine redundancy, coupled with GRES, the nonstop

routing (NSR) and, in the future, the nonstop bridging (NSB)

capabilities of Junos OS, ensures a smooth transfer of control

    plane functions following unexpected failures.

The EX3300 also supports the following HA features:

    • Redundant trunk group: To avoid the complexities of

Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) without sacrificing network

resiliency, the EX3300 employs redundant trunk groups to

provide the necessary port redundancy and simplify switch

    configuration.

    • Cross-member link aggregation: Cross-member link

aggregation allows redundant link aggregation connections

between devices in a single Virtual Chassis configuration,

providing an additional level of reliability and availability.

    • Non-Stop Bridging (NSB) and Non-stop Routing (NSR):

NSB and NSR on the EX3300 switch ensure control plane

protocols, states and tables are synchronized between

master and backup REs to prevent protocol flaps or

convergence issues following a Routing Engine failover.

    • Non-Stop Software Upgrade (NSSU): With NSSU, all

members of an EX3300 Virtual Chassis configuration can

be upgraded with a single command. Mission-critical traffic

can be configured as a link aggregate across multiple Virtual

Chassis switch members, ensuring minimal disruption during

    the upgrade process.

Simplified Management and OperationsWhen deployed in a Virtual Chassis configuration, the EX3300

dramatically simplifies network management. Up to 10

interconnected EX3300 switches can be managed as a single

device utilizing a single Junos OS image file and a single

configuration file, reducing the overall number of units to monitor

and manage. When the Junos OS is upgraded on the master

switch in an EX3300 Virtual Chassis configuration, the software

is automatically upgraded on all other member switches at the

    same time.

The EX3300 includes port profiles that allow network

administrators to automatically configure ports with security,

QoS, and other parameters based on the type of device

connected to the port. Six preconfigured profiles are available,

including default, desktop, desktop plus IP phone, WLAN access

point, routed uplink, and Layer 2 uplink. Users can select from

the existing profiles or create their own and apply them through

the command-line interface (CLI), J-Web Software interface, or

    Junos Space network management system.

In addition, a feature called System Snapshot makes a copy

of all software files used to run the switch, including the Junos

operating system, the active configuration and the rescue

configuration, that can be used to reboot the switch at the next

power-up or as a backup boot option. The Junos OS software

can also be preinstalled on a flash drive and used to boot the

    EX3300 at any time.

Another feature, called automatic software download, enables

network administrators to easily upgrade the EX3300 using

the DHCP message exchange process to download and install

software packages. Users simply configure the automatic

software download feature on EX3300 switches acting as DHCP

clients and establish a path to the server where the software

package file is installed. The server then communicates the path

to the software package file through DHCP server messages.

An EZ touchless provisioning feature allows a DHCP server to

push configuration details and software images to multiple

    switches at bootup.

Three system management options are available for the EX3300

line. The standard Junos OS CLI management interface offers

the same granular capabilities and scripting parameters found in

any router powered by the Junos operating system. The EX3300

also includes the integrated J-Web interface, an embedded web-

based device manager that allows users to configure, monitor,

troubleshoot, and perform system maintenance on individual

switches via a browser-based graphical interface.

Finally, EX3300 fault, configuration and performance data can be

exported to leading third-party management systems such as HP

OpenView, IBM Tivoli, and Computer Associates Unicenter software,

providing a complete, consolidated view of network operations.

Enhanced Limited Lifetime WarrantyThe EX3300 includes an enhanced limited lifetime hardware

warranty that provides return-to-factory switch replacement for

as long as the original purchaser owns the product. The warranty

    includes lifetime software updates, a
