ADULT TAP DANCEDancing is The Most Effective Exercise for the Brain Exercise has 2 beneficial effect of slowing down or even counteracting age-related decline in mental and physical capacity. Studies show the physical exercise of dancing increases the areas of the brain that decline with age. Dancing leads to noticeable behavioral changes and also improves balance. These improvements are attributed to the extra challenge of learning dance routines.

Key improvements are in memory with volume increases in both the right and left sides of the brain. For the brain, changing dance routines and choreography are far superior to repetitive exercise like cycling or walking. Steps, arms, head, shoulders, hands, formations, speed, and rhythm are constantly changing to consistently challenge the learning process. The challenge comes from remembering with no clues from the instructor. Certainly the lyrics and melody of the song help the dancer remember.

Everyone would like to live an independent and healthy life for as long as possible. Dancing is a powerful tool to set new challenges for body and mind. If you are interesting in this program, please contact Patsy Hinton at (318) 251-1436.
