Measuring Child Poverty: A consultation on better measures of
child poverty
4
Launch
On 15th November 2012, Iain Duncan Smith and David Laws launched the consultation.
It will run until 15th February 2013.
5
Why we need a new measure
- the most recent child poverty figures showed that 300,000 fewer children were in relative income poverty between 2009-10 and 2010-11.- however, this was largely due to a fall in median income nationally which pushed the relative poverty line down.
The Consultation Document
Absolute poverty remained un-changed and for these 300,000 children, life remained the same.

The Consultation continues…..Until 15th February 2013. If you or your organisation wish to respond individually, or if you have further
