My Project Topic
I have always loved listening to rock and recently I started learning how to play guitar. My goal in doing this project is to set out to learn how to play and learn the origins of this genre and to learn additional guitar information that I can’t self teach myself.
How I will Achieve My Goal
Upon meeting with my mentor we both decided that the best way to achieve my goal was to pick 5 popular songs from this era that my mentor knew how to play and have him teach me them.
The Five Songs“Folsom Prison Blues” By Johnny Cash
The Five Songs“Bad Moon Rising” by Creedence Clearwater
Revival
The Five Songs“Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Five Songs“House of The Rising Sun” by The Animals
The Five Songs“Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry
Research Paper
Since the paper required 5 entries and I was learning 5 songs I decided to do my research paper on the history and influences of the artists of my 5 songs
Research PaperThe results of my research came to the conclusion that 60’s rock’s main influences were Blues, Country, and Folk
Process
My mentor and I decided and planned to meet with each other 5 times for an hour at a time. In each meeting he would teach me a new song and in between meetings I could practice and do my research

Process
ProcessI learned a lot in the process of completing this project. I learned what I set out to learn and my mentor was great at teaching me. The skills and knowledge that I acquired through completing this project I will be able to use through out my lifetime of guitar playing. I learned useful skills like understanding tennessee numbers, chord progressions and what it’s like playing in front of a live audience.

Conclusion
I think this project was an overall success. I learned a lot and my mentor was a great teacher. Looking back I don’t believe I would have done anything different.
