If any clause, sentence, paragraph, section or part of this act48 shall be adjudged by any court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid,49 such judgment shall not affect, impair or invalidate the remainder ther-50 eof, but shall be confined in its operation to the clause, sentence,51 paragraph, section or part thereof directly involved in the controversy52 in which such judgment shall have been rendered.53 § 4. This act shall take effect immediately and shall be deemed to54 have been in full force and effect on and after the effective date of55 section 1 of chapter 16 of the laws of 2012, took effect.
