SAVE THE DATE Notre Dame Law School Moot Court Board is pleased to announce its Fifth Annual Notre Dame National Appellate Advocacy Tournament for Religious Freedom, taking place Friday, April 9, 2021 through Sunday, April 11, 2021. Every year, teams from law schools across the country participate in our Tournament, arguing before a mock Supreme Court of the United States. We hope you will join us this spring to celebrate student scholarship, appellate advocacy training, and address challenging questions involving the First Amendment. Be sure to mark your calendars, and we hope to see you (virtually) for this exciting event! Where? VIRTUAL! Zoom link(s) will be provided. When? Tournament takes place: Friday, April 9, 2021 through Sunday, April 11, 2021 Formal registration opens: February 9, 2021 *Tournament Fee: $300 per team Prompt released: February 26, 2021 Briefs due: March 27, 2021 What? The finalized schedule will be supplied to participants following their registration, but here are some events to look forward to: Friday: an optional virtual happy hour for participants and judges in the evening Saturday: two preliminary rounds (semi-finalists announced that evening) Sunday: semi-final round of final 4 teams, final round argument, remarks by a keynote speaker (to be announced), and an award ceremony announcing Top 3 scoring teams, Best Oralist, and Best Brief Who? We are honored to host state and federal judges at both the trial and appellate level for this tournament. We are still confirming judges to preside over arguments throughout the weekend. Last year’s panel of judges included Judge Michael Brennan of the Seventh Circuit, Judge Richard Sullivan of the Second Circuit, Judge Diane W. Wilkins , retired Utah state court judge, and Justice Michael J. Wilkins , retired Utah Supreme Court Justice.
