WELCOME MESSAGE

It is my pleasure to have had the opportunity to direct the second play in our year of Norm Foster. What is so wonderful abouta Foster play is that he writes about real people, people weknow, people we care about. He also writes about familiarevents. This wonderful play is very familiar to a lot of us because it’s about family; a family that is about to engage in avery wonderful yet scary event: a WEDDING.

Like planning a wedding, being in a play can be very much thesame. It is exciting; there is a lot of prep work, there is dealingwith emotions, there is some questioning, and things that comeup last minute. And of course there is that little bit of fear. Am Idoing the right thing? Am I ready? Will it all work out?

Let’s peek inside the kitchen window of the Duncan family. Weare in the garden looking into the window above the sink andcounter tops. Here we will get a clear view of what is going onin Cass’s kitchen while there is a small gathering of friends andfamily in the living room just down the hall. This is a after therehearsal get together for the wedding of Maggie and Russell.Everything is ready for the big day ... or is it???

I am very proud of my cast. All but one is new to TAP and mostare new to acting in community theatre. Including the crew, weare like a small family with everyone taking on more than onejob, happy just to be involved and make it happen.

It has been such a pleasure to work with my actors and crewand I hope you do continue to stay involved in community theatre, on stage, back stage, and beyond.

A special thank you to Jan my producer and stage manager supreme who has been with me from the very beginning and every step of the way.THANK YOU!!!

To all our Patrons:For the enjoyment of yourself and those around you, we askthat you:• please turn off all cell phones, pagers and watch alarms.• refrain from photography during the performance.• if you have a pocket full of candy that you know you won’t

be able to resist during the performance, PLEASE unwrap itprior to the show. Unwrapping it slowly during the performance, only increases the agony to the actors on stage andthe audience member seated next to you.

Thanks for your understanding.

Let’s make the show enjoyable for everyone!

The Players: The Players (cont’dI:Amy Giotu (Maggie Duncan)

Amy is thrilled to be working with Cher once again.Cher and Amy had worked together in the Player’sGuild Production of Wrong Turn at Lungfish. Withmany years of community theatre under her belt,Amy welcomes the stage with open arms and isgrateful to share it with, yet again, a wonderful andtalented cast. She would like to thank everyone in

the front and behind the scenes who made this production possible.

Connie Williams (Wanda Duncan)

Connie is happy to be back on stage after a fiveyear break. Her previous shows at TAP include YouCan’t Take It With You, Perfect Wedding, and Out ofOrder. The TAP audience has always been one ofher favourites. Thank you to Cher and Jan for welcoming her back into the TAP family. Hope you allenjoythe show!

Sofia is a classically trained singer who also enjoyslive theatre. She sings with the Hamilton Follies Variety Show and has had past experience in live theatre as a university student “many years ago.” Sheespecially loves comedy and is thrilled to be working with this great cast, director and crew.

Tom Buzzelli (Tom Duncan)

Ivan is actually quite surprised and grateful to be inthis role. It was his wife Sofia’s encouragement thatprompted him to audition after many years awayfrom acting. He is no stranger to the stage, however, and still performs as a musician and DJ and hasbeen in demand as an Emcee and Corporate Trainer. Long hailed as having a “radio voice”, he has

also been retained by an agency in Toronto to do commercialnarration and voice-over work. He is excited to be acting again, especially with such a great cast, director and crew. Like thecharacter he portrays, he has survived his own mid-life crisisand has managed to recapture some of that thrill again.

Scott Deveau (Axel Wilkie)

Scott is new to TAP and the stage. He is currentlytaking acting lessons, like some of his fellow castmembers through Mohawk College. Scott is mostappreciative for all the support he has receivedfrom his crew members throughout this whole experience. Most of all, he would like to give Cher abig thank you for the opportunity and for all that

she has done for him and with him in his first role. It will notbe forgotten!

Chris Faciarelli (Russell McMillian)

This is Chris’ first time on stage and he is excited tobe part of the Maggie’s Getting Married cast. Chrisis also taking acting classes in the Performing ArtsProgram at Mohawk College and is grateful for theopportunity to perform with TAP.

The Crew:

Cher Lyford (Director)

Cher has been involved in community theatrefor approx. 30 years on and off, beginning inBelleville, Dunnville, Caledonia, Hamilton and,of course, here at TAP. Some of her favourite

ltij$’ performances would be Come Back to theFive and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean,Steel Magnolias, and Nurse Jane Goes to Ha-wall. You may have seen Cher in Stepping

out, Wrong turn at Lungfish, The Mousetrap, The Underpants and The Long Weekend. This is Cher’s second timedirecting at TAP; her first show was the very funny Kitchen Witches. A special thank you to Paul for always jumping in and helping out with her little projects. “I reallycould not have completed this without you.”

Jan Bondy-Chorney (Producer)

Jan started her new career in stage rather latein life. She spent thirty years as a police of

• ficer (RCMP) and, after retiring, decided to• spend her time doing something totally differ

ent. She has completed three courses in Act• ing at Mohawk College and this is her third

season with The Aldershot Players. Jan hastwo grown daughters who continually ask her

why can’t she be like other senior citizens who knit, cookand stay home. When not working with TAP, Jan enjoysvolunteering with the Neighbour to Neighbour Food Bank,Jack and Jill Pre-School and working at a part-time job asa Personal Information Investigator for a local Hamiltoncompany.
