Forest Theater alternate Plan - from Theatre User Groups

(Note: Change from Previous draft: See T5, handrails and platforms.

Assumptions:

A

1 Delete ramps and porta-potty from east Forest. Replace with

T

and T3 below. Save 4-6

trees.

A2. Delete demolition and r emodel of driveway and Santa Rita lower entry pathway. Not a red

tag issue. Regrade existing driveway instead. Save 2 3 trees.

A3. Delete ticket table pad at top of driveway. Unneeded. Not a red tag issue . Save 1 tree.

Instead, make the following changes: T

Triage

T move east egress to top of auditorium. Straight shot path with no hand rails. Red tag

egress. issue. No lost trees. Closest to existing community gate.

Solves 3rd egress requirement.

T2 move north egress to straight shot path to gate ,

no

handrails . No lost trees. Not a red tag

as its a 4th exit. Only 3 required. Delete?

T3 move handicapped access and egress

Forest, long path, curved, no handrails except

entry point double back to back of concessions. Red tag egress/access issue. No lost trees.

stage issue. Solves orchestra pit issue. Saves the propertys biggest trees. Solves Carolyn s porta potty issue. Solves

duplicate and shared actor/audience bathroom issue. Solves downright stage entrance issue.

T4 AC lift downstage left for access to stage. Very occasional use . Extremely rare. Code

access issue.

Solves AC access to stage issue. Solves handicapped on parade issue. Solves handicapped being stuck backstage issue.

Solves down right actor/set congestion issue.

NEW - *T5 Change auditorium ramps to platforms instead of steps. Install 4 8 wx6 d

platforms each with a single intermediate step. Install Hairpin Handrails (upside down

U s) at each of the 4 single steps. These would be every six feet and negate the need for

a continuous rail .

Solves handrail issue. Solves audience access to hillside seating issue. Solves actor access to hillside issue. Under

proposed plan both actors and audiences would be cut off by continuous handrails required by change to steps or steep

inclines.
