SENSORY PROPERTIES AND COOKING??

It is important to not only learn to use words to describe foods but to understand why foods may taste/appear/ smell that way because of how you cooked it.

Think of the different in texture of uncooked to cooked pasta?

The pasta is firm and hard until you cook it and it absorbs the water and becomes soft and squishy.

SENTENCE AND PARAGRAPH WRITING

You need to learn not only to describe foods using describing words but to use these words to develop paragraphs.

From a Year 7 example:Our omelette tasted light, cheesy and healthy. The tomato in it made the omelette taste sweet. Our omelette looked light, fluffy and golden. our omelette felt lighter than it would if we made a classic omelette. It was also smooth and soft.

ACTIVITY

You will be provided with a range of foods. On the worksheet find two words to describe each sense of each food. Then using those words create a sentence/paragraph to describe the food.

You will find the sensory chart on the weebly to help you.
