Ultimate Family CruiserSea-keeping, Space and Style
Hailed as an instant classic on her launch, the Trader
42 Signature impresses on every level. Her innovative
layouts, exceptional design detailing and top performance
have stunned purchasers and press alike.
Among the smallest Category A yachts on the
market, the 42 is just as comfortable making waves at
20 knots as she is cruising at displacement speeds.
Trader has developed sophisticated design and
manufacturing solutions to offer more than 70 layout
possibilities. These include three distinct exterior body
styles, as well as accommodation choices (two-cabin or
three-cabin layouts available), power options and mooring
alternatives. Trader offers all this choice to make sure
that the 42 you purchase is exactly the yacht required
helm, but adds an integrated aft deck canopy, favoured by
those who cruise in the sunniest climes.
The 42 FB boasts a full flybridge and a larger aft deck
connected to the saloon by a full height glass doors. This
innovative upper deck design provides a fantastic helm
position with ergonomic seats, as well as sociable sofa
seating for six.
Luxury and practicality combine to create the most
comfortable experience afloat – whether you are helming
the boat, entertaining out on deck or relaxing inside.
The 42’s social areas are designed so that all those
on board can enjoy every aspect of life at sea. With her
open-plan saloon, fully equipped galley and lots of deck
space – the 42 always accommodates.
Practical SolutionsUnrivalled Comfort and Safety
for where – and how – you choose to cruise.
The standard 42 has a fully-enclosable command
bridge helm position on the aft deck. This version features
a folding radar arch, making it the first Trader with the
flexibility to cruise the upper reaches of the Thames and
the magnificent waterways of mainland Europe. The 42 HT
(hard top) is also designed around the command bridge
She also benefits from Trader’s
finest user-friendly features, which
include secure side decks with direct
access to the saloon, raised mooring
gear, and a uniquely comprehensive
standard specification.
The 42’s spacious interior, which
incorporates a palatial master cabin, has
been lovingly designed with Trader’s
“home from home” ethos firmly in
mind. From the hand-crafted teak
joinery through to the luxurious finishes
throughout, the 42 is the epitome of utter comfort and timeless style.
Trader 42 Signatures have been delivered throughout
the world where they cruise the Mediterranean, Atlantic,
Aegean and beyond.
“Home from Home” The Trader Philosophy
“Best on-deck design I can think of for an aft-cabin cruiser” MOTOR BOATS MONTHLY
Designed by people who love being at sea, every detail
of the Trader 42 Signature has been developed to make
cruising as enjoyable and effortless as possible. Wide
and deep side decks are amongst the many features
that give an enviable sense of security on board.
The command bridge helm position delivers
unrivalled all round visibility and confidence both at
sea and for close to manoeuvring when short -handed
and forward facing seats are provided so other crew
members can also enjoy the view underway.
Comfort and practicality go hand in hand. The
galley is conveniently located adjacent to the helm,
and a drinks fridge is also provided in the cockpit. At
the stern, a built in seat and stowable table allow the
aft deck to be configured for everything from a cocktail
party to an elegant supper.
The area can be enclosed with a full canvas
enclosure for protection from the elements. A hinged
radar arch which allows the air draft to be reduced to
3.5m to open up the waterways and rivers of Europe.
• Command bridge helm position
• Three forward-facing seats at helm
• Canvas enclosures for helm position
• Hinged mast (3.5m air draft when lowered)
• Aft deck seating with stowable table

“Handling so simple a child could manoeuvre it” BOOTE
The Trader 42 Signature HT combines the command
bridge helm position and wonderful deck layout of
the standard model with a full size hard top over the
aft deck and helm. The hard top features a 3.2m2
sunroof with a sliding canvas panel to open up the
view to the sky.
This arrangement offers outstanding flexibility
and will be familiar to anyone used to a modern
sportscruiser; 360 degree views from the helm,
sheltered from the sun but open to wind in the
hair cruising – a wonderful Mediterranean cruising
companion.
With the addition of the optional canvas
enclosure and the sunroof closed, the aft deck
becomes the social heart of the boat. The built in
seating and table, just a few steps from the galley
and cockpit drinks fridge make this area the perfect
spot for sundowners and the optional BBQ unit is
perfect for preparing alfresco meals.

“Helmsmen will love it . . .” MOTORBOAT AND YACHTING
Innovation is the hallmark of the Trader 42 Signature
FB. The flybridge design combines a commanding
helm position with sociable seating up top and a fully
covered aft deck with a full height door to the saloon
below – unique on a boat of this type.
The helm console is located aft, with two
adjustable helm seats. This location also means that
the helmsman can sight both aft corners of the boat
– an invaluable aid for Med stern-to mooring. Sociable
seating wraps around the helm so everyone on board
can enjoy the flybridge experience underway.
Just four steps separate the flybridge from the
aft deck, so access is easy in any weather. A door
stowed in the hardtop closes this off, making the
area weatherproof without the need for canvas. The
aft deck itself is considerably larger than on the other
versions, and linked to the saloon through a double
panelled sliding door which really brings the two social
areas of the boat together.
• Full flybridge helm position
• Seating for two at flybridge helm
• Sociable seating for six on flybridge
• Integrated GRP aft deck canopy
• Full-height glass doors to saloon
• Moulded staircase to flybridge
• Hand-laid teak to all deck areas
• Sun pads on foredeck
• Side deck access to saloon
“The woodwork is exceptional” NEPTUNE YACHTING MOTEUR
The Trader 42 Signature has been designed to make
the most out of being at sea. In the spacious saloon,
the seating has been arranged up a step and far
forward – to make the most of the views of the water.
Likewise, the galley is also up on the main deck so
whoever is doing the cooking can also enjoy the life
afloat and be part of the action on board.
Skylights flood the saloon with light, and from
the generously proportioned seating you lounge and
dine using the adjustable table. The galley opposite is
particularly practical. Domestic appliances including a
super large fridge freezer are matched with copious
storage and large Corian counters. Even the TV is
cunningly concealed in the woodwork.
A sliding door to the starboard deck provides
great ventilation and a much easier circulation on
board. It is adjacent to the optional interior helm
position, which is a great help to whoever is driving.
You’ll notice that everything on board seems big
for a 42 footer – the seats, beds, shower stalls and the
appliances. That’s our “home from home” philosophy;
everything is as domestic as possible so that the boat
is supremely comfortable and usable for extended
periods afloat.
The beautiful teak joinery is distinctive and full of
character. It will give pleasure for years to come. It is
augmented throughout by the finest quality fixtures,
fittings and appliances to enhance that luxury feel.

“The lure of 50 foot luxury inside a 42 must take some beating” MOTOR BOATS MONTHLY
The master stateroom aft has long been a Trader
hallmark, but it has been brought up to new levels in
the 42 Signature. The benefits of this layout are the
extra space it affords to the master suite, and the
privacy that comes from separating the guests away to
other end of the boat.
Entered down a private stairway, the master
stateroom and en-suite bathroom give a sense of
space that would be generous in a much larger boat.
Not only is there a kingsize berth, but it is easy to move
around. There is copious storage – hanging lockers,
shelved lockers and drawers. The en-suite bathroom
is fully equipped with a large stall shower and, as ever,
designed with a careful eye to the details. The cabin is
focused on the transom window which floods it with
light, and the dressing table provides the perfect spot
to sit and enjoy the bay view.
The guest accommodation has also been
designed for comfort and is available in two versions.
The VIP layout gives a full beam double guest cabin
in the bow, with all the luxuries you would expect
in master including double wardrobes and en-
suite bathroom. The alternative three cabin layout
ingeniously fits in two twin cabins, the forward one
being particularly generous and loaded with storage.
Both versions feature full sized bathrooms with
separate heads, washer/dryer and outstanding engine
room access.

The Trader 42 Signature is built to go to sea. Certified
CE Category A, Ocean Going, she has the systems and
engineering quality for the kind of extended cruising
which is usually the preserve of much larger and less
versatile craft.
That brief was the challenge presented to renowned
naval architect Tony Castro. Trader owners have pioneered
this kind of versatile cruising yacht over the last thirty years,
and the latest developments would have to enhance low
speed efficiency, performance and sea-keeping.
The hull features a distinctive fine-entry bow with
deep forefoot for ride comfort. Tunnels are used to recess
the propellers and reduce the shaft angle to aid the trim.
A full length keel also protects the sterngear and aids
tracking. The underwater shape was tank tested at the
Wolfson institute in the UK to reduce drag and optimise
efficiency. Spray rails are carefully positioned to push
entrained wash away from the boat.
The distinctive fine-entry bow means that a Trader
hull won’t slam in big seas and the keel gives exceptional
tracking in downwind situations. Because the boat is
not reliant on speed for tracking or stability, you can set
the pace for comfort on board. That Trader 42s have
ventured across the Bay of Biscay and as far afield
as St. Petersburg in Russia says everything about the
confidence inspiring qualities of this hull.
The Trader semi-displacement hull offers distinctive
Performance and sea-keeping
options for voyage planning. Speeds up to 25 knots are
available if you have to hit a deadline, want to out run
some weather or do some short range bay-hopping.
When it comes time for some passage making, nine knots
means just twenty litres power consumption and a range
of four hundred miles. Slow down some more, even to
single-engine operation, and even greater efficiencies can
be achieved.
“Engine room shames boats twice its size” MOTOR BOATS AND YACHTING
The Trader 42 Signature has been designed to give years
of boating pleasure, delivered through a commitment
to quality that runs through the design, engineering and
manufacture of each craft.
Each 42 is manufactured at a purpose-built
waterfront facility in Zhuhai, China from Trader moulds
and supervised by our Production Manager in the
Far East. Every boat is sea trialled and comprehensively
tested before leaving the yard.
While the craftsmanship is traditional, the
manufacturing techniques and materials are bang up
to date. The Trader 42 Signature hull was extensively
tank tested in the UK, and her composite structure
engineered to the exacting standards of the RCD
Category A by High Modulus.
The systems have been developed in partnership
with some of the biggest names in recreational boating,
including Cummins, Mastervolt and Raymarine. This
integrated approach to ensures greater reliability, and
better service for the owner.
Comprehensively specified, and enhanced with a
selection of personalisation options, each Trader 42
is delivered turn-key. After just a little familiarisation,
her new owners will be all set to start out on their first
voyage together.
