Q 15. Two particles with charge ratio 1 : 2 and mass ratio 1 : 4 have been accelerated through same potential. Find the ratio of

(i) Their momenta.

(ii) de Broglie wavelengths. The particles are initially at rest.

Q 16. Three photodiodes D1, D2 and D3 are made of semiconductors having band gaps of 2.5 eV, 2 eV and 3 eV respectively. Which ones will be able to detect light of wavelength 6000 ?

Q 17. State the principle of potentiometer. In an experiment with potentiometer, rheostat coil has a resistance of 80 Ω with the sliding contact in the middle. The 400 cm long potentiometer wire AB has a resistance of 80 Ω .

Calculate:

(i) The current drawn from the 6 V battery.

(ii) The potential gradient.

(iii) Emf, E of the cell if the balancing length is 120 cm.

(iv) The maximum emf which the potentiometer will measure without disturbing the rheo-stat.

Q 18. State the law of radioactive decay.

Plot a graph showing the number (N) of undecayed nuclei as a function of time (t) for a given radioactive sample having half life T1/2 .

(b) A voltmeter of range 0 to 10 V.

Draw the diagrams to show how you will connect this resistance to the galvanometer in each case.

Q 21. How will the frequency; wavelength of a beam of ultraviolet light get affected when it goes from air into glass?

A ray of light incident on an equilateral glass prism shows the minimum deviation of 30°, calculate the speed of light through the glass prism.

Q 22. State the postulates of Bohr's theory of hydrogen atom. Using these postulates, show that the radii of the stationary orbits of electron in hydrogen atom are in the ratio 1 : 4 : 9 : 16.
