Term 2 Week 10
Respect Responsibility Co-Operation
We Speak Respectfully!
Leonie Pearson
We are almost at the end of an extraordinary se-mester. I would like to congratulate our students, community members and staff for the way they have accepted and adapted to the changes brought about by COVID-19. There is an ever-present risk of the virus and we need to closely follow health guidelines in all we do at school. The remainder of 2020 and possibly into the fu-ture will continue to present us with challenges.
Next term, in Week 2, we will be sending home student reports. They will be very different from those you have received in the past. In line with the department’s guidelines, teachers will report on English and mathematics, and make a gen-eral comment relating to other areas of learning. It is felt that due to the extended period of time without face to face teaching, it is not possible to fairly assess students and provide accurate grades. We expect that the end of year report will be in the traditional style and give a more accu-rate grade to students’ achievements.
Thank you again for your support. I hope you get the opportunity to enjoy some time off during the break.

Principal’s Message
The spotlight for this week is We Speak Respectfully! Speaking respectfully to other people is about using your empathy to be considerate of others. It is about saying things clearly so that you are under-stood well. Speaking respectfully also involves thinking before you speak, in order to put aside any of your own hostilities, annoyances and gripes that can cause tension or upset when holding a conversation or discussion.
Speak clearly and practice active listening
Use polite, respectful language
Be calm and thoughtful of the person you are having a conversation with
Make your meaning clear
Avoid discussing rumours or gossip

Dental checks at schools may not continue in 2020 due to COVID-19. All parents and carers are
encouraged to arrange a dental check-up for their children. You may want to consider the fol-
lowing options:
1. Call the Goulburn Dental Clinic on 1800 450 056. Please note at this stage we do have a
waiting list.
2. Contact your family dentist.
3. Check if you can use your private health insurance with a local private dentist.
4. Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme—your child may be eligible and this may allow for
routine treatment at a local private dentist.
The School Banking Program
will resume in Term 3.
