Two undergraduate teams from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UTSA, competed in
the 34th annual Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) held by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its
Applications (COMAP) in Feb 2019. On April 19, 2019, COMAP announced the contest result in a press release.
One UTSA team consisting of three undergraduate students, Josh Ramirez, Oli A. Buhiyan, and Mauricio
Figueroa, received Honorable Mention Award. Among a total of 14,108 teams representing institutions from
seventeen countries/regions participated in the contest, only the top 9%-22% have been designated for
Honorable Mention Awards. Another UTSA team consisting of team members Allen Herrera, Mile Martinez,
and James Nelson, was selected for Successful Participant Award. Both teams are advised by Dr. Yufang Jin.
