Respect Resilience Responsibility Kindness
It has been a wonderful start to 2020. All the students have settled in well, includ-ing our new Preps who are confidently learning new routines and getting to know their classmates. A big thank you and congratulations to parents, students and staff for ensuring such a successful commencement to the year. It has also been great to have Mr Crouch working back at the school on Wednesdays. Information Evening
There will be a whole school information evening on Wednesday 26 February to
provide an opportunity for parents to learn more about the different curriculum
areas we teach at Warrandyte Primary. The Prep – 2 session will be 7 – 7.30 and be
held in the room between Katie and Kiah’s classrooms. The 3 – 6 session will be
7.30 – 8pm and held in the room between Rick and Jayde’s classrooms.
School Review
The school review will run from 3 to 20 March and will look at all aspects of our
school. Included will be student learning and the educational programs, school pol-
icies and compliance issues. If you have any questions about the review or any oth-
er matter, please come and make a time to talk with me.
School Parking/Drop Off
Parents are not permitted to use the school’s main Forbes Street entrance as a drop off or pick up point between 8.20am and 9.30am, and between 3pm and 4.10pm. This area is used in those times for bus access only.
Brackenbury Street is a ONE WAY street during the hours of 8am to 9.15am, and 3pm to 4pm on school days. This means that to pick-up or drop-off children at the school, drivers must proceed up Anderson Street to enter Brackenbury Street.
MORNING PARKING:
The south side (school side) of Brackenbury Street is for drop off only. No parking is permitted.
The north side is for 90 degree angle reverse parking only for those parents who wish to leave their vehicle.

WARRANDYTE PRIMARY SCHOOL
PRIVACY INFORMATION for parents and carers
During the ordinary course of your child’s attendance at our school, school staff will collect your child’s personal and
health information when necessary to educate your child, or to support your child’s social and emotional wellbeing
or health in the school context. Such information will also be collected when required to fulfil a legal obligation, in-
cluding duty of care, anti-discrimination law and occupational health and safety law. If that information is not collect-
ed, the school may be unable to provide optimal education or support to your child, or fulfil those legal obligations.
For example, health information may be collected through the school nurse, primary welfare officer or wellbeing
staff member. If your child is referred to a specific health service at school, such as a Student Support Services
officer, the required consent will be obtained. Our school also collects information provided by parents and carers
through the School Entrance Health Questionnaire (SEHQ) and the Early Childhood Intervention Service (ECIS) Transi-
tion Form.
Our school may use online tools, such as apps and other software, to effectively collect and manage information
about your child for teaching and learning purposes, parent communication and engagement; student administra-
tion; and school management purposes. When our school uses these online tools, we take steps to ensure that your
child’s information is secure. If you have any concerns about the use of these online tools, please contact us.
School staff will only share your child’s personal or health information with other staff who need to know to enable
the school to educate or support your child, or fulfil a legal obligation.
When our students transfer to another Victorian government school, personal and health information about that
student will be transferred to that next school. Transferring this information is in the best interests of our students
and assists that next school to provide optimal education and support to students.
In some limited circumstances, information may be disclosed outside of the school (and outside of the Department
of Education and Training). The school will seek your consent for such disclosures unless the disclosure is allowed or
mandated by law.
Our school values the privacy of every person. When collecting and managing personal and health information, all
school staff must comply with Victorian privacy law. For more information about privacy including about how to ac-
cess personal and health information held by the school about you or your child, see our school’s privacy policy:
https://www.education.vic.gov.au/Pages/schoolsprivacypolicy.aspx
Throughout this notice, ‘staff’ includes principals, teachers, Student Support Service officers, youth workers, social workers, nurses and any other allied health practitioners and all other staff at our school. This includes employees, agents and service providers (contractors) of the Department, whether paid or unpaid.

FOWPS News Friends of WPS warmly welcomes our families, and especially new families, to the 2020 school year. We are a friendly and informal group, aiming to continuously im-prove the educational experience of WPS students by fostering a strong sense of community connection and also raising funds for equipment/resources/projects that are beyond what is provided by limited government funding.
The recent oval restoration was one of our initiatives. We also contributed funds towards the landscape improve-ments at the main entrance to the school and the purchase of group iPads, as well as imminent new library furni-ture.
We meet as a committee each term, with our first meeting being held on Thursday 5th March at the Grand Hotel at 8pm (meeting point TBA). We invite you to join us, even if just to say hello and see how we operate.
We welcome engagement at any level, so if you can’t make the committee meeting but wish to have some involve-ment or have any queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Our first formal activity will be our stall at Warrandyte Festival – our much-loved fairy floss and baked goods. Please save the dates: 21st –22nd March.
Look out for our communications via The Alert (i.e. the fortnightly school newsletter distributed via Compass, and also accessible on the school website) and also through Compass updates and more informally on our closed Face-book Page “Friends of Warrandyte Primary School-FOWPS.”

OSHC News Dear Warrandyte families,
Just a quick note to update you on the following:
Program account charges:
When an OSHC program licence is transferred from one provider (school) to another (CommunityOSH) there is al-ways a delay in the Child Care Subsidy also being transferred as well. We are still waiting for this to be done by the Family Assistance office which is why we have not charged any parent accounts until the CCS can be applied to your account. Once the transfer has been completed Jock from our finance team will email you an updated statement and then fees will be deducted from your nominated account 48hours after. We appreciate your patience and under-standing.
Program Mobile:
As of tomorrow (Thursday) if you need to contact the program directly to speak to Shamirah between 7-9am or 3-6pm please call the program mobile on 0418 623 695. Please save this number to your address book. If you require a last minute booking for Before or After Care please call and leave a message or send a text with your child’s name and year level so that Shamirah can expect your child to attend.
Please let me know if you have any questions at all about these updates.
Cheers,
Bella & Shamirah

Sport News House Swimming Carnival
On Tuesday 4 February we had our first sporting event for the year. Years 3-6 went to Aquarena for the House Swimming Carnival. The students were all commended for their effort, behaviour and the encouragement of others. House Captains had their first role for the year in supervising their House and organising the relay teams. All did a wonderful job. Our School Captains opened and closed the sports and provided support to the House Captains. The results between 2nd & 4th have never been closer :
Brackenbury—4th with 103 points Yarra—3rd with 104 points Forbes—2nd with 108 points
and our winning house after a very long drought is Anderson— on 137 points.
A big thank you to staff and parent helpers, in particular Laurie Scholes-Robertson who still came along to help even though his daughter, Ava, could not attend on the day. Thank you.
House Swimming Carnival
District swimming is being held on Monday 24 February. Students who have qualified will be notified tomorrow. Unfortunately there will be a clash for those students who are attending Somers Camp.
