2014 RECAP: For the first time in the event’s history the game’s outcome had to be

decided in overtime. Mikey Wynne netted the sudden death game winner, and his

fourth goal of the game, to seal the sudden 17-16 victory for the South. It marked the

South’s fourth win in a row and gives the squad a one win advantage in the series.

PERFECT 10: This year marks the 10th edition of the sport’s premiere high school

All-Star showcase. Let’s take a look back at some of the top 10 moments from the

annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game:

1. 2013 Matt Rambo set an event record by netting eight goals while leading the

South in a shootout over the North, 28-24.

2. 2011 South goalie Bobby Wardwell posted 12 saves en route to only allowing

an event record two goals during his half of game action. His nine fourth

quarter saves were crucial in the 11-9 victory.

4. 2014 The series witnessed its only overtime game. Mikey Wynne ended it in sudden death with his

fourth goal of the game and gave the South its fourth straight win.

5. 2008 Tim Rommel scored with 57.8 seconds remaining and sealed the North’s 13-12 win.

6. 2009 The South earned its first victory in the series thanks to Chris LaPierre’s six points (2 goals and

4 assists)

7. 2007 The North trounced the South, 20-10, for the largest margin of victory in the event’s illustrious

history

8. 2013 Both teams combined for a whopping 52 goals as the South pulled away with a 28-24 win.

9. 2010 The last year the North was victorious, middie Mark Cockerton scored four goals, including

two in the final stanza, to help his team to a 17-12 victory.

10. 2012 Gordie Koerber netted a hat trick, scoring two of the South’s three second half goals, to help

fend off a fierce North comeback. The North fell one goal short despite outscoring its opponent

6-3 in the second half.

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING: Joey Froccaro (Midfield/Sands Point, NY/Port Washington/Villanova) is

the third Froccaro son/brother to play in the Under Armour All-America game. Patrick Kelly (UAAA class of

2012) will watch his younger brother Timmy (Attack/Timonium, MD/Calvert Hall) wear the All-America

jersey this year.

IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO: Garden City High School in Garden City, NY and The Haverford School

in Haverford, PA are the only high school programs with multiple All-Americans this year. Garden City is

represented by James Sullivan (M/FO, Harvard) and Tommy Wright (LSM/D, Penn State), while Drew

Supinski (Midfield, Johns Hopkins) and Grant Ament (Attack, Penn State) played for Haverford.

YOU LOOK FAMILIAR: 26 of this year’s All-Americans, including 16 on the South squad, were in town for

this event in 2014, 2013 and/or 2012 while competing for their respective region in the Under Armour

Underclass Lacrosse Tournament that is affiliated with this event.

LYLE STYLE: UAAA alumnus Lyle Thompson (2011) captured the Tewaaraton Award for the second

consecutive season. It marked the fourth time in history an UAAA alumni won the game’s top award:

CONFERENCE RIVALRIES BLOSSOMING: Every school in the ACC and Big 10 has at least one recruit

COACHING STAFFS Boys North

Eamon McAnaney, ESPN’s lead play-by-play announcer for college lacrosse since 2010, has called

Championship Weekend in each of the last four seasons. He was a four-year letter winner at Notre Dame for

Rich O'Leary and Kevin Corrigan. As a senior in 1991 he was a tri-captain for the Fighting Irish. The North

assistant coaches are Dave Mullen and Jim Marlatt.

Boys South

Liam Banks was a two-time All-American at Syracuse where he earned the NCAA Tournament’s Most

Outstanding Player award in 2000. He played in the MLL from 2004-2008. He is also the founder of LB3

Lacrosse. The South assistant coaches are Sean Lindsey and JP Banks.

2014 RECAP: The North jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead on its way to a

convincing 18-11 victory. MVP Shayna Pirreca posted five points on three goals

and two assists. The North squad has captured six out of the last seven games,

and leads the overall series versus the South, 7-2.

WELCOME BACK: 31 of the seniors on this year’s All-America girls rosters, including 17 on the North

squad, were in town for this event in 2014 and/or 2013 while competing for their respective region in the

Underclass tournament that is affiliated with this event.

THE EAGLES HAVE NOT LANDED: All-Americans Olivia Jenner, Elizabeth George, and Kelsey

Cummings helped the McDonogh Eagles finish the 2015 season with a 21-0 record. It marked the sixth straight

year McDonogh has gone undefeated. The Eagles have now won 133 consecutive games, which is a girls’ high

school lacrosse best. McDonogh has been the High School National Champions and the top ranked team in the

country in the seven-year span. During the winning streak, McDonogh has produced 21 Under Armour All-

Americans, including 2012 All-American game MVP Taylor Cummings.

COACHING STAFFS

Girls North

As a senior at Boston College, Covie Stanwick was a 2015 IWLCA First-Team All American. Throughout her

career she was a three-time All American, a four-time All ACC Team selection, and a two-time Tewaaraton

nominee. Stanwick finished her career as the all-time leading scorer at Boston College. Stanwick, a Baltimore

native, played on the Under Armour Underclass Championship teams in 2009 & 2010 where she was named the

MVP of the tournament in 2009. As a senior in 2011, Stanwick was on the South team for the senior All-

America game. The North assistant coaches are Sam McGee and Caileigh Sindall.

Girls South

Chris Robinson has been the head coach at McDonogh for eleven years, where he compiled a 213-9 record.

His teams have won eight IAAM championships. The last six years his Eagles have been ranked No. 1 in the

country and are in the midst of a consecutive win streak that spans 133 games. The South assistant coaches are

Kim McNemar and Amanda Brady.
