Thompson is passionate about studying God's word, proclaiming the Christian message and caring for God's people. So, it's no surprise to him that the Holy Spirit has brought him to serve in the pastoral ministry of St. Anne's. Rev. Thompson received his M.Div. from the General Theological Seminary in New York City in 2007 and was ordained to the diaconate in June 2007. He was ordained to the priesthood on Jan. 26, 2008, the feast day of Timothy and Titus, companions of St. Paul. Hobbies include playingguitar, bike riding, losing himself in the Greek New Testamentand listening to music, everything from Blind Willie Johnson toMozart and John Coltrane. Having been baptized in the watersof the U.S.C. Trojans and the Los Angeles Lakers, he asks thatyou refrain from extolling the alleged virtues of the Notre DameFighting Irish and the Boston Celtics.

Partners in Mission in Guatemala
The Partners in Mission in Guatemala are so pleased to reportthat our Stove Campaign has completed after a nineyearperiod of providing materials, transportation and training to ourbrothers and sisters in Guatemala. Thanks to the tremendousgenerosity of St. Anne's parishioners and friends, our stovecampaign will provide 90 stoves to the Guatemalancommunities in 2017, which is sufficient to complete the stoveprogram. We will move toward providing latrines in yearsahead as our next major health initiative.
A mission team is headed to Guatemala in midJuly and wouldbe very pleased to take any used laptops that you are willing todonate. We are also interested in taking basketballs to the localelementary school, as they have recently begun a sportscurriculum using basketball as an organized activity. As always,your tremendous support is greatly appreciated!

A Year of Getting to Know God through the Bible
A new series has begun at our Sunday 5:30 PM service: AYear of Getting to Know God through the Bible. Over thecourse of the next year, we'll base the music, readings,prayers, and message of our service on the story of the Bibleand the God revealed there. This means that in thirty minutesa week you can get to know God and the Bible better. In thecourse of a year, you will come away with an understanding ofwho God is, what the Bible really says, and why the Bible is soimportant to us as a source for understanding who we are too. In addition to the Sunday evening 30minute service, we'll bebuilding a webpage that contains additional resources fordeeper exploration and understanding. We'll take some breaks here and there, for example, whenAmy and Joe are on vacation, or when some other celebrationtakes precedence, and don't worry, if you can't come everySunday evening, you won't feel lost when you do come. Butmaking the commitment to attend regularly is one way to learnand grow over time. If you already love our 5:30 Sundayevening service, our format and style isn't changing at allyou'll
just notice a sustained theme over timea crucial, exciting,enriching, lifegiving theme. We began on March 5the first Sunday of Lent. Trying out thisservice and a Year of Getting to Know God through the Biblewill make a wonderful Lenten discipline. We hope to see youthere!

The Daily Office of Evening Prayer

The Prayers of the People
At our Sunday morning services, we pray publicly for thosewho request our prayers. Generally, the person we pray for issuffering from some difficulty, illness, loss, or grief. We read theperson's name aloud during the service, including their first andlast name, so we need the person's explicit permission.
The Prayer Letter
We publish this letter weekly and copies are available in thechurch narthex. The Letter includes first name and last initial ofthe person. We pray for these persons at our weekday worshipservices.

A Hearing Loop has recently been installed in the church tobetter serve the 57% of people over 60 who have significanthearing loss. The Hearing Loop provides clean, clear soundwithout a headset and sends the voices of clergy and readersdirectly into the hearing aids of people sitting in the pews. If youhave hearing loss but no hearing aids, ask an usher for a LoopReceiver with earbuds which you can use during the service.

As a member of the Anne Arundel Interfaith Coalition, St.Anne's has been working with ten other congregations inAnnapolis to renovate an existing house at 123 Clay Street.

Light House Shelter
Cooking for the Light House Shelter
St. Anne's and the Men's Huddle provide and serve theevening meal at the Light House the first Wednesday of everymonth. After serving the dinner we get a plate and sit downwith the shelter "guests" to eat and converse. Come join us atthe Light House if you would like to help.
On June 7, we served one of our most popular meals ofchicken and salads. Thank you Warna Gillies, Julie Rottkamp,Nancy Steere, Monica and Bill Barry, Mark Minik, Kathy Allan,Sharon McElfish, Elizabeth Lee and her son Ben, Bob Sherer,Susan Fowler, Fran Harwood, Wayne Adamson, Linda Silva,Eleanor Huggins, Fran Spector, Nancy Greeley and JohnMerrick.
With the first Wednesday in July being the day after July 4th,many people will be away. We are trying to keep things simpleand get organized early. We still need one person to provide aham of 58 pounds spiral cut or sliced; 1 more volunteer toprovide potato salad for 1618 persons (about 4 pounds ifpurchased); 2 people to provide coleslaw for 20; 6 dozen rolls;68 tomatoes sliced or ready to be sliced; 50 slices of cheese;drinks (iced tea mix, 2 jars of juice, 1/2 gallon of milk) andwatermelon and cookies for dessert.
On August 2, we will have our annual cookout. If the weathercooperates, we will cook and eat outside. We need 3 people toprovide 20 hamburgers and buns; one more volunteer toprovide 30 hot dogs and buns; 2 people to provide bakedbeans for 25; 3 people to provide potato salad for 1618; 68tomatoes sliced or ready to be sliced; 3 onions sliced; 50 slicesof cheese; one head of lettuce; a veggie and dip tray; drinks(iced tea mix, 2 bottles of juice, 1/2 gallon milk) andwatermelon.

Family cooking at the Light House Shelter is held the 3rdMonday of each month. We are always looking for volunteerfamilies to come prepare, cook, and serve a meal forapproximately 60 residents. This is a wonderful opportunity forthe whole family to volunteer together and lovingly serve ourcommunity. Children 11 years old and over are welcome toparticipate in family cooking. Each month we need 23 familiesto prepare a main course, side dishes, and dessert.

Christian Faith and MemoirSundaysFall, 2017St. Anne's Church In the fall, we will offer a new Christian Formation Class onChristian Faith and Memoir. The class will be led by the Rev.Dr. Amy E. Richter and the Rev. Dr. Joseph S. Pagano. Theclass will explore the big themes of Christian faith (e.g.,creation, redemption, grace, forgiveness) through the genre ofmemoir. Classes will include a 20 minute presentation byclergy leaders on a particular theme of Christian faith in thestory of their lives. Participants will have an opportunity torespond by writing their own memoir of faith. Come andexplore how the story of Christian faith is being written in thestory of our own lives.
