We are open for public Mass, while we recognize that many are eager to return to Mass in our churches, it remains im-portant for those who are el-

derly and otherwise at risk to refrain from returning to public liturgies until it is manifestly safe to do so. All the faithful continue to be dispensed from their Sun-day obligation until further notice. Those who are sick must stay home. Those considered high risk and their caregivers are strongly encouraged to stay home. When coming to Mass it will look differently. Since we will have to sanitize after each service we will be celebrating Mass in the parish hall. This is so that we can make sure all areas are cleaned with ap-propriate cleaner. The pews in the Church can only be cleaned with warm, soapy water and that does not satisfy the CDC regulation. We are also allowed only 33% of capacity. So, we will be offering more Mass times to accommodate this. We will only be able to have 75 people attend Mass at a time. We have a form posted on the website that you can access by going to www.parishsfds.com under the about and contact us tab. The direct link to the form is https://parishsfds.com/covidsurvey . This form will help us schedule ahead of time and keep our oc-cupancy in regulation. We are asking you to please fill this form out and come at the time se-lected. You will see there is a 1st and 2nd choice and we will notify you if you do not get to stay with your 1st choice. We will be making sure our Parishioners are able to attend and if there is room for others, they will be let in after we have all entered. Mass Time Options – Saturday at 4:00pm and Sundays at 12:00 pm. The weekday schedule will be Tuesday through Friday at 6:00pm. (Daily Mass is no longer celebrated as a Sunday Mass.) The doors will be opened 30 minutes prior to each Mass time and will be locked when we reach full oc-cupancy or when Mass begins, whichever comes first. It is imperative that you keep the time that you have scheduled. If you need to change or update it, please contact the office. Please enter through the Parish Hall doors from the parking lot side, which will be the only entrance avail-able. The doors will be propped open for ease of en-trance. Here are some other changes that you need to know prior to coming to Mass. These are all driven by the Governors guidelines and have been approved by the Bishop:

• Anyone over the age of 2 must wear a mask at all times. If you are not able to wear a mask, please do not plan to come to Mass as you will not be let in with-out one. If you have a child that can’t keep a mask on, they cannot come. • We do have sanitizer, but please bring your own if you have it. • There cannot be any singing. • There will be someone directing you where to sit. We will fill in from front to back to keep social distance guidelines and you can only sit with people within your household. • We will exit from back to front and can’t gather in the parking lot. There will be someone directing you when to leave. • The collection basket will be out under the large crucifix on the wall. Please put your envelope or do-nations in the basket when you arrive. • During Communion –Fr. Bruce will come to each person and give Communion in the hand. You cannot receive by mouth at this time and there will be no Cup. • Staff will be at all Masses, if you have questions please ask one of them. They will be able to assist you should a need or questions arise. At this time we continue to ask you to access the bul-letin from our website. If you don’t have access, call the office and we will see what we can work out. All other resources can be found online as well. Some sites are posted on our website as well as the Dioce-san website at https://owensborodiocese.org/ Bishop Medley has released a statement as well as the guidelines and it can be read on this link: https://owensborodiocese.org/return-to-public-mass/ Fr. Bruce will also not be able to hear confessions during this time. Some have raised the question about the possibility of providing general absolution to the assembly upon resuming public Mass. The Bishop discussed this and has stated that it is not clear that our circumstance would meet the church’s criteria for this act. Catechesis may be made to the faithful re-garding paragraph 1452 of the Catechism on making a perfect Act of Contrition. Please be patient and kind during this transition. It is new to all of us and we will get through it.

Mass Guidelines to follow as we open Mass for public. The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ June 14, 2020

“O Mary, you shine continuously along our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. “We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the Cross were near to the pain of Jesus, keeping your faith firm. “You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this moment of trial. “Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us, He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and took up our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our Pleas, We who are put to the test and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

THEOLOGY OF THE BODY CORNER

Learn about this vocabulary definitions for Theology of the Body. Paducah Faith Formation teaches Theology of the Body for all grades.

Hope of Every Day: The daily hope of victory over sin, which is available to us through Christ, who helps us overcome “evil with good” (Romans 12:21.) Redeem: To pay off a debt through the exchange of something of equal or greater value than the debt owed. Through original sin, an infinite debt was owed to God, thus, only an infinite exchange could be made – this is why God sent his own Son, Jesus, to redeem and save us. Redemption: The ransom of humanity from the slavery of sin to a new life of freedom through the sacri-ficial death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. Resurrection of the Body: The joining, at the end of time, of the bodies of the saved with their souls in heaven, at which point they will participate bodily in a face-to-face encounter with God within the mar-riage of Christ and the Church. Sexual Addiction: A compulsive, frequent, and disordered habit of seeking sexual pleasures. Deprived: Humanity’s loss of the grace of original innocence. Through original sin, we were deprived of the perfect integration of our bodies and wills. Though human nature is still good, we struggle to choose God’s will over our own. External Constraints: The laws of God or society that protect us from abusing our free will and hurting ourselves or others. Freedom: The ability to desire and to choose the good. Free will: The gift given to us by God that allows us to choose between good and evil. This God-given freedom allows us to be the authors of our own choices, thus allowing us to determine our own destiny. Internal Constraints: Distractions or disordered desires within us that steer us away from choosing the good.

Worship/Spiritual Life

As you may know, in March the diocese launched a program with Grace Marriage to be available at four locations in Owens-boro. Due to our current situation, the founders at Grace Mar-riage have decided that everyone needs some grace and posi-tivity. Couples are enduring a lot of stress, anxiety and uncer-tainty. Marriages are struggling. In an effort to help married couples draw closer to Jesus and to one another during this time, we have been working with Grace Marriage to provide helpful lessons since church activities are being postponed or cancelled. We would love it if you could share this information and opportunity with your parishioners! Grace Marriage @ Home Grace Marriage will be providing one “Grace Marriage @ Home” lesson per week for the next month or so. Couples watch an 8-10 minute teaching video and use a downloadable worksheet to apply the principles to their relationship. It takes about 30-45 minutes a week of undistracted time as a couple to go through each lesson. Here are the first two sessions: Session One “Grace Based Marriage” You might be familiar with the grace-based vs. performance-based marriage teaching but we want to reach couples who may not have heard this. The reality is, we can never revisit grace enough. The grace of God through Christ is the founda-tion of the Christian experience, but what does grace look like in marriage? How can our marriages reflect the Gospel? That’s exactly what we’ll walk through in this session of GraceMarriage@home.

https://www.gracemarriage.com/grace-marriage-at-home-the-grace-based-marriage/

Session Two “I Would Have Never” With couples experienc-ing so much negative news, it’s important that we visit a lesson on gratitude. This fun lesson will have you reflect on your mar-riage and look at all the things you would have never experi-enced, character traits you have developed, or even foods you may not have tried if it had not been for your spouse. This should be a fun time of remembrance and celebration of the good things the Lord has done in your lives. https://www.gracemarriage.com/grace-marriage-at-home-i-would-have-never Grace Marriage will release a “Grace Marriage @ Home” video each week on their Facebook page for the next several weeks: https://www.facebook.com/gracemarriage/

“The bread I will give you is my flesh for the life of the world.”

These were very disturbing words for the Jews, who asked, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” Before we judge them too harshly, we should remember that we have the witness of two thousand years of Christians who had great devotion and sacrificed much, often their lives, for their faith in the Real Presence of Jesus. For the Jews listening to Jesus this was a strange concept that pro-duced grotesque images. Today, many Jews, non-Catholic Christians, and non-Christians no longer question our belief in Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Some wish to share in our Communion. They appreciate the privilege we have of receiving Christ in His Body and in His Blood, so that we may be strengthened to be His Body and Blood for others in our world. Do we truly appreciate that privilege and are we good stewards of the Body and Blood of Jesus that we receive?

Kindness Campaign: Sign up to share a little kindness

The Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph, Maple Mount, are continu-ing a unique fundraiser to support their ministries and spread a little kindness in the world. The Kind-ness Campaign provides 12 per-

sonalized inspirational cards to be sent to the person of the donor’s choice. You may know someone who is

homebound or ill, or you may wish to be kind to a health care or other essential worker, a teacher, a friend, a rel-ative or a neighbor. This service will be provided for a

contribution of $50 to the Ursuline Sisters. You are both spreading kindness and helping the Ursuline Sisters

continue their ministries. The cards will be mailed begin-ning in June. To request an order form, contact Carol

Education AND formation The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Purification & Enlightenment This period customarily coincides with Lent. It is a time of more intense spiritual preparation, consisting more in interior reflection than in catechetical instruction. It is intended to enliven the minds and hearts with a deeper knowledge of Christ the Savior.

Focus this week - Stewardship RCIA Update: As we are unable to meet in person, we have been continuing to meet in an online way using Zoom! Stewardship of our God-given gifts and talents is our topic this week. God has a purpose for each and every one of us and has equipped us to fulfill it. What is yours?

Receiving the Initiation Sacraments! Many of those in the RCIA process, seeking entrance into the Catholic Church, have been gathering since last August. Please keep them in prayer throughout this last period of preparation that God may lead them to truth, peace, and deepened faith in Christ!

Elect (receiving all three Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, & Eucharist): Brooklyn Meeks, Jimmy Patrick, Madison Scott, Landon Shaffer, Emalynn Weaver, & Lily Weaver

Candidates (already baptized, they will receive Confirmation & Eucharist): Whitney Baxter, Sarah Dockery, Matthew Lee, Harriet Rankin, Sondra Rankin, Karen Sholar,

John Vogt, Shelia Vogt, Nikki Weaver, Randy Weaver, & Rainey Weaver

Continued Spiritual Growth in an age of Social Distancing We are called to always be learning, throughout our entire life. Just because we cannot be face-to-face, we can utilize technology to continue learning about the amazing God who created and loves us. A different free resource will be highlighted here throughout this pandemic period.

Catholic Answers Have questions about the Catholic faith, but aren’t sure where to look to research on your own? Catholic Answers is the place to start! They are dedicated to providing content that is faithful to the Magisterium and written by experts in all applicable areas (liturgy, history, theology, philosophy, canon law—just to name a few!).
