Models 40/40L-LB and L4-L4B are identical to the aforesaid UV and IR combination, except the IR sensor works at a wavelength of 4.5 μm, and the IR sensor is only suitable for hydrocarbon-based fires. The UV / IR high-speed flame detector has considerable durability and weather-related resistance, and is comprised of the following characteristics: Heated window, eliminating condensation and icing Highway Addressable Remote Transducer (HART) capabilities, for digital communications low-power requirements A compact, lighter design The UV / IR high-speed flame detector senses radiant energy in the short wave section of both the ultraviolet and infrared portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. The signals from both sensors are analyzed for frequency, intensity and duration. Simultaneous detection of radiant energy in both the UV and IR sensors triggers an alarm signal. Due to increased reliability, Models 40/40L-LB and L4-L4B are SIL2 (TUV) Approved to IEC 61508. Product Overview RatingsThe UV-IR High-Speed Flame Detector (Models 40/40L-LB and L4-L4B) provides a combination of UV and IR sensors in which the IR sensor operates at a wavelength of 2.5-3.0 µm, detecting fires, such as: hydrocarbon-based fuel and gas; hydroxyl and hydrogen, and metal and inorganic fires.

Models 40/40L-LB and L4-L4B are identical to the aforesaid UV and IR combination, except the IR sensor works at a wavelength of 4.5 µm, and the IR sensor is only suitable for hydrocarbon-based fires.
