CUTTERS OUT TO STOP TEANECK Teaneck High will meet Fair Lawn as an inde
pendent foe for the last time this afternoon. The next time the Highwaymen and the Cutters meet on the football field it will be a Northern New Jersey Inter scholastic League encounter. The rivalry, which is but five years old, should develop into a great one as it will come during the circuit schedule.
Teaneck and Fair Lawn have had four tremendous battles already on the gridiron with the Big Blue club winding up on top in three of the games. But the margin of victory has never been by more than two touchdowns and in one of the games Teaneck won by one point.
Frank Bennett brings a veteran team into the Route 4 stadium this afternoon. It is a spirited club, using the familiar Bennett single wing which has been with him for his 13 years with the Cutters. Fair Lawn would like nothing better than setting the Highwaymen down, before they can begin another successful season.
Teaneck is working on a 15-3 mark over the past two seasons, which has seen them take two straight Northern New Jersey Interscholastic League titles. Charlie Gunner has built a powerful football machine, which is geared on maximun performance from every player. Gunner has instilled a will-to-win

in his charges with the aid of assistants Jack Armstrong, Joe Cervino and Ed Scagliotti. This trio has been joined this year by a new assistant, Russ Myers.
Teaneck has undertaken the most ambitious schedule in the school's football history for the coming season. In future weeks, Teaneck fans can see the familiar NNJIL opponents along with two new/ foes, Dover and Memorial of West New York. The Dover eleven will invade next Saturday for an independent clash and on October 18, Joe Coviello's Memorial juggernaut will tackle the Big Blue gridders.
The key to Teaneck's success in these future engagements will be found this afternoon against Fair Lawn. A convincing victory over the Cutters would start the Highwaymen off flying . The Cutters on the other hand are still in the Northern Bergen Interscholastic League for footbaJl and their stock would take a tremendous swlng upwards with a decision over Teanneck.
The Cutters are also very anxious to improve on last year's overall record of 3-3-l and a 3-l-l mark in the NEIL, where they finished behind Ridgewood.
Teaneck's eleven veteran players should be well tested this afternoon along with some of the new comers to varsity ball. The Highwaymen won a

A PRE-SEASON DISCUSSION •
COACH CHARLIE GUNNER is aiming for an unbeaten season this year .. Here he talks to his
co-captains. Mike Denino (center) and Bob Cannon. They are the field leaders for the Big
Blue qridders.
33-19 decision over the Cutters last. year thanks to Bill Hardy and Bill Pashe. Both of these stars have graduated and are currently at George 'N ashington University. Fair Lawn has many boys back from last year's dub which bowed before the talents of Teaneck and their co-captains Hardy and Pashe. The two Bills are not returning and Fair Lawn will be out to gain sweet revenge.
Len Garille will stand in Hardy's quarterback post. He holds the key to the split T offense. He is a fine passer and a good runner. If he can gain the confidence and poise that was Hardy's, Teaneck will not miss its All-County player. Bart DiChiara, Al Wiener, and Pete Luongo will have to fill Pashe' s :;;hoes. Actually one man would have a rough time
making Teaneck fans forget the Most Valuable Player. Still, all three are hard runners. Co-captain Bob Cannon will be a defensive back for Gunner and also spell Garille if necessary.
Co-captain Mike Denino will spearhead the Teaneck line, with Lyn Francis and Al Hilkman two top operators, along with Arne Thorsland and Phil Mapes. Arvid Thorsland may not see action.
The veteran Highwaymen will be out to win today and go on winning in the hopes of achieving an unbeaten campaign. This will be the firs t of six home games. The Teaneck High School football fan is in for a long and thrilling campaign.
