Do we have VBS or not? Do we have camp or not? Do we go on a Mission trip or not? Do we have Sunday School or not? Do we have Children and Youth activities or not? As I have been talking with pastors it is interesting to hear what has been going on. Churches that have not met and churches that have continued to meet. In the building, in the parking lot, on the grounds, online only, all of the above! And so how does all this process into the Summer months? There is so much information and so many opinions, so what to do and how to do it is the question and the pressure that Pastors are facing. Church member, pray for your pastor, don’t pressure him. Encourage him as he seeks to lead by the direction he desires from God. Pastor, lead as God leads you. We are not all going to agree on how to move forward, but move forward we must. I encourage you to move forward together in love and grace. And as the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians, chapter 2 verses 1 – 5, “Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves, do not merely look out for your own interests, but also the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,” It's a great time to perhaps do things you’ve never done before, start new things, stop ineffective things, improve the good things to make them great! Walter’s Word – Association

This month’s word of “Word-Association” is “Summer?” Yes, that is “Summer” with a “?” This may be the most unusual Summer the church has ever known. Do we have VBS or not? Do we have camp or not? Do we go on a Mission trip or not? Do we have Sunday School or not? Do we have Children and Youth activities or not? BSM End of Semester UpdateWhat an interesting semester it has been for everyone. Many of the events and plans that we had came to a halt after Spring break. Early in the semester I had the chance to meet the students in the ESL class at VC and was looking forward to getting to know some of them. Though that did not work out, I have made a connection with the ESL professor and look forward to working with her in the future. We also had an international student return from Taiwan who was very interested in helping with an international ministry on campus. I am looking forward to seeing where these connections will lead us. Our coffee on campus was such a success that we were hoping to expand it to VC after Spring break, but we were forced to push that back to next semester. Since classes went online, I have been able to reach students with a weekly devotional on Instagram and Facebook and have continued with discipleship meetings via video chat and phone. At this point we expect lunches to resume in September. We are praying and beginning preparations for the coming semesters and would love for you to join us in ministering to students in this critical season of life.
