Blessing Prayer for the Christmas Crib

Catholics Returning Home If you, or a friend or family member is thinking about returning to the faith, be assured that a warm welcome awaits! Sessions begin Janu-ary 9 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 208. For more information, call Eleanor Lashley at 770.338.4376. We miss you and we are not complete without you!

Christmas Mass Schedule

Let us pray in silence for the coming of peace into the world and into our home. Pause for silent prayer.

Lord, as we pray before this our Christmas crib-shrine and await the feast of the Birth of the Holy Child, call forth the dormant child from within each of us; cause us to wonder and to rejoice again in this most ancient feast. As the magi came bearing gifts, may we, this Christmas gift one another with the gold of charity, the myrrh of kindness and the incense of prayer. With the shepherds, we come to the birth of Christ seeking a simple celebration, where the greatest gift will be ourselves given to You, our God, and to each other. May the star of Bethlehem, which shone brightly over the first crib, stand guard over our home, filling it and all the earth with light and peace.

All present sing Silent Night.

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You Because by your holy birth You give hope to the world. Amen. Edward Hays

Mass Intentions

Last Week’s Collections

Not available due to early publishing deadline.

In the first reading, God promises King David that his house and his king-dom will endure forever. It is through Mary’s “Yes” – “I am the hand-maid of the Lord. Let it be done to me as you say.” – that the promise finds fulfillment.

The Second Collection Next Week is for our Parish Debt Re-duction Fund. Your gifts to this fund, over and above your reg-ular offerings for parish support, are helping us accelerate the retirement of our parish debt. Thank you!

Care Packages We are sending care packages to our military members and would appreciate any of the following dona-tions: beef jerky, gum, non-chocolate bags of candy, sunflow-er seeds, chap stick, pre-packages cookies. Donations can be dropped off at the welcome window. Please contact Lori Crocker with questions at [email protected]. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” – Luke 2:10 The Catholic Foundation of North Georgia is grateful this Christmas season for both our faith and our faith-filled broth-ers and sisters in The Archdiocese of Atlanta. Thank you for your generous spirit. www.cfnga.org.

The Parish Office will be Closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 25 and 26 for Christmas; Friday December 29 and Monday, January 1 for New Year’s Day .

No Confessions! Father John and Father Mark, have heard confessions nearly every day during Advent. We will give them the afternoon off Saturday, December 30. Saturday con-fessions resume on January 6 at 3:30 p.m.

Parish Verification Forms now being used by all archdiocesan Catholic Schools for admissions, and then again every year for tuition purposes, describe “active” Catholics as: (1) registered in the parish; (2) participating regularly at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days; (3) have a parish Time & Talent commit-ment on file for the current year and are participating in at least one parish minis-try; and (4) are pledged and contrib-uting to the current year’s Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. Those who do not meet these criteria are “registered but not active” and are not eligible for discount-ed tuition. Please do the right thing now so that Fr. John is able to check “active” when your verification form crosses his desk.

As we enter into a New Liturgical Year, we look forward to two events that will be highlights of our parish life:

+ The February 3rd Ordination to the Diaconate of Rick Hogan, Pete Ranft and David Schreckenberger. • The 10th Anniversary of the Dedication of our beautiful Sanctuary on October 29. •

Thank you to all of the wonderful donors that have helped us in getting the green vestments! Now we can move to purchase some in violet since that is the color we use for both Lent and Advent. Some may not know that the proper vesture for a Deacon at Mass is not only the Stole worn diagonally over one shoulder, but over this is supposed to be a tunic – called a “Dalmatic.” (The priest’s vestment worn over his stole is called a “Chasuble.”) The only Dalmatics we have at St. Lawrence are in white: none in green, red, violet or rose. If you would like a loved one or an event remembered embroidered into the inside color of these 3 vestments, please consider this opportunity. Fr. John has selected a violet set from the Holy Rood Guild, and each of the 3 (1 Chasuble and 2 Dalmatics) run just shy of $1,500.00 each. (Yes, handmade dignified and noble Sacred Vestments, worthy of the Paschal Mystery we cele-brate in our Sacred Liturgies, have great worth! To the right is a picture of the Chasuble and the Dalmatic.

(Sorry, professional model is not included! – just the vestment!)

All Faith Formation classes and pro-grams will be on break December 17-December 31. Programs will resume in January.

Explore Life, Faith, and Meaning. The Alpha Course begins Wednesday January 17 (9:30-11:00 a.m., and 6:30-8:00 p.m.) and Sunday January 21 (1:00-2:30 p.m. Food. Talk. Discussion. All are welcome! Reserve your seat: http://www.saintlaw.or /alpha/

ST.

Oremos: Dios, tú eres Padre, Hijo y Espí-ritu Santo.
