Software/Hardware Requirements
System Requirements Windows XP, Windows 7, or Windows 8 Mac OS Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion Latest version of JAVA and Internet Browser ( Chrom on Mac will not work) Wired Internet connection (DO NOT USE WIRELESS)

Internet Voice (VoIP) Requirements:
Internet Voice (VoIP) Requirements: HEADSET with microphone is required during the
sessions.
DO NOT use the built-in microphone and speakers from your computer; doing so causes feedback and heavy interference.

Connecting to Saba for a Meeting
1. Click on the link provided to you through email for the Saba Meeting: e.g. https://centra.sph.umich.edu:443/GA/main/001
2. Type in your email address, *Plug in your headset before
clicking on the "Attend in Browser” 3. Enter your full name for the "Display Name“, Click on the "Attend" button

Agenda This is where you can see the agenda for this current online session.
Tool Bar This area contains different options available to you as a participant
Audio Setup 1. Start the audio wizard by
clicking on the Microphone Muted icon.
2. Select your Headset as the Speaker and Microphone.
3. Click the green Play button to set the speaker volume.
4. Test your Mic to see if the green bar is moving to reflect your sound level. 10

Press the “Hand” icon to ask to speak
When you press the “Hand” icon, the number next to the
Hand icon is the order in which the presenter will allow you to speak.

Can be used to communicate technical issues without interrupting the class.
Click on to undock the chat box. Participant can text to either all
presenters or with the whole class.
Speaking in Saba

*Click on the “Hand” icon to ask to speak.
Red => Mic given, muted Green => live Mic Grey => Mic not given, not active When you have the red Mic, you are given the right to speak. Click on the red Mic to speak, Mic will turn green to speak continuously. Click the green Mic to mute (Mic turns red) BEFORE you start speaking, make sure your Mic is Green. (you can also press CTRL on your keyboard and hold it the whole time while you are speaking. )
Viewing Recordings
1. Under “My Schedule”, Click on the “Recordings”, then “Playback”.
2. Click on “Playback in Browser” to play the recorded session.

Saba Etiquette
• “Raise your hand” when you want to speak. • Look before you speak. For the best sound quality, only one
person should speak at a time. Wait to speak if you see other green Mic. (someone else is speaking)
• Use response buttons in place of verbal “Yes” or “No”.

The Essentials
• Log into the course site through: http://ctools.umich.edu/ , click on “Saba Login” link
– Log in using your username and password. • If you’re a new user, you should have received your
password via email.
• Using Saba for a web meeting: use the link provided in your email to attend the meeting.

• Raise your hand if you want to speak
• When given Mic (the mic turns red), click Mic icon or hold down the CTRL key to talk (Mic turns green when it’s live)
