Mass on Thanksgiving Day 9:00 AM, St. Mary
Setting aside time to express our gratitude to God on a day that is
dedicated to giving thanks is most appropriate. The Greek word “eucharisteo” means “to give
thanks.” The Catechism states that the Eucharist “is an act of thanksgiving to God” (No. 1329). The entire Mass is a prayer
of thanksgiving, which is stated explicitly in some prayers and implied throughout. Join us - all are welcome!

From the Pastor’s Desk
Dear Friends,
Begin with the End in Mind! As we approach the end of the Liturgical year and approach advent, we will face readings that reflect the end times. I preached recently about this phrase, "Remember your death," a mantra St. John Climacus and other desert fathers said was an essential step in the ladder to heaven. The idea is this: when we have before our eyes our end goal, which is heaven, we are more able to take steps directed to that goal. It's so easy as bodily creatures to get caught up in the here and now and forget that our life needs a destination, or we will be going down deer paths to nowhere we want to go. I don't know about you, but I've been in the woods as a Boy Scout and even now as a mountain biker, and sometimes we can follow the worn trail of a deer or other animal leading anywhere but back to civilization. We have this weekend the prophecy from Daniel, which reiterates the reality: there are only two destinations, one to everlasting life and one to endless, "horror and disgrace."
"The wise will shine brightly," the prophecy tells us, and in Her wisdom, the Church every year sets our sight upon our ultimate goal, heaven. The Church calls us to reorient our life towards heaven and recognize the steps that might be veering us off course. I think of it this way; if I want to become muscled, I must eat well and lift weights. I have to take steps to get strong, and having a good diet and working hard are necessary to get to the strength goal I have set for myself. If I'm not taking the proper steps, I will not only not get to my goal, but I will lose hope of getting to my goal. Not only that, but heaven truly is infinitely good, and it should excite us to do whatever it takes, and my heart beats all the more for the life of eternity.
Indeed, the end can inspire fear in many people, but we actively pray that Thy kingdom comes if we are on the right path. Every time you pray the Our Father, we call for Jesus to come again to make things right. The Church teaches us that the end times are right now, and the end started with the founding of the Church. The end times will go on until the Lord comes, "like a thief in the night." We know that it will be a public event, "a loud trumpet will blast." Ostensibly the end times come for each of us at the end of our lives. We must reorient our lives in this time, confess our sins, fix our eyes on the prize: Jesus. By following him each day, we will grow in hope and strength of faith to reach our heavenly destination.
Blessings! Fr. Michael

Adults with imagination and creativity are needed to help build the stage scenes and others to go over parts with the little actors. First and Second grade students can be part of the entire play and will make up the Nativity actors as the Christmas Story is told.
The Play, “Red-Letter Christmas” will be presented on Sunday, Dec 5, 10:45 – 11:30 am in the Church. This Sunday is also the day of the parish Christmas Fair. The play will be live-streamed. This is for Year C and covers the liturgical year, from the First Sunday of Advent, November 28, 2021 to the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, November 20, 2022.
Is the Women’s Health Protection Act (H.R. 3755/S. 1975) truly giving women PROTECTION or is it a complete deception?
On September 21, 2021 in Washington, the House of Representatives, by a vote of 218-211, passed the most radical abortion bill of all time. The Archbishop of San Francisco, Salvatore J. Cordileone called the bill “nothing short of child sacrifice” and further stated, “Any reasonable person with a basic sense of morality and inkling of decency cannot but shudder in horror at such a heinous evil being codified in law.” The Most Reverend Joseph F. Naumann, Chairman of the USSCB’s Committee on Pro-Life Activities, added, “In fact, abortion is the opposite of women’s health care, and is an extreme violation of human rights.”
The following is part of what is contained in the bill:
Impose abortion on demand nationwide at any stage of pregnancy through federal statue even if the states don’t want it.
Invalidate modest pro-life laws at every level of government—federal, state and local.
Eliminate parental notification for minor girls, informed consent and health/safety protections specific to abortion facilities.
Force all Americans to support abortions here and abroad with their tax dollars.
Force employers and insurers to cover or pay for abortion.
Although the Women’s health Protection Act (WPHA) passed in the U.S. House, it is expected to have a harder time in the Senate. According to the Internet’s Congress.Gov, WPHA bill S 1975 was read twice in the Senate as of September 29, 2021 “and placed on the Senate legislative calendar”. Urge our state senators to vote NO on this deceptive piece of federal legislation that is a failure to love and serve women.
The next pro-life meeting will be held on Thursday, November 18 at 12:30 pm at the home of Theresa Widmer.
