SACRED HEART SCHOOL NEWS

Sacred Heart School is now taking Kindergarten Registration for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. As spots are filling

fast, please contact the school office at 250-563-5201 as soon as possible if you would like to give your child the gift of

Catholic education.

The Sacred Heart School Gala 2018 is planned for March 3rd at the Ramada Hotel. The theme will be "Tropical Paradise".

Tickets are now available at the school office.

A number of physical activities are taking place this month at Sacred Heart. The basketball season is in full swing as the

students prepare for the upcoming Basketball Tournament. Thank you to all the coaches and sponsoring teachers. Students

will also continue to participate in the annual skating program during February.

Sacred Heart School students and Staff gathered at Sacred Heart Cathedral for Ash Wednesday Mass on February 14th.

Thank you to Ms. Garden and the Grade Two class who hosted this celebration. Our Lenten share activity is the Brown

Bag program. Students and staff will decorate brown lunch bags and fill them with food items at home. These will be

distributed at the St. Vincent de Paul Drop-in-Centre on Friday evening, February 23rd.

Primary classes marked St. Valentine's Day on February 13th and the 100th Day of School on February 16th with seasonal

activities in the Assembly Space. Sincere thanks to all our special volunteers.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS Every Friday(s) of the Lenten Season, we will pray the Stations of the

Cross in the Church at 7:00 PM.

NOTE: The Weekdays of Lent are a time of penance for the Church

around the world.

RITE OF ELECTION The Rite of Election for the city parishes will happen on

the First Sunday of Lent, February 18, 2018 2:30 PM at

Sacred Heart Cathedral. Bishop Stephen Jensen will be

the main celebrant for the Liturgical Celebration. In our

parish, there are two candidates journeying towards full

initiation to the Catholic Church. They are Andrew and

Elizabeth. Both of them will be present at this celebration

and will be invited to a Lenten Renewal. Please come

and support the catechumens and candidates in their

faith journey.

As we journey with Jesus from the desert to the empty tomb, Sisters

EVANGELIZATION AND FORMATION 1. WOMEN’S MORNING OF RECOLLECTION: “Called by Name: Authentic Personhood in Christ,” is being offered on

February 24, 2018 at the Domano Renewal Centre (Emmaus House).

Do you ever feel like you stagger from day to day, and lose sight of who you really are?

This conference is designed to help you find yourself again! Registration starts at 8:30AM and the presentation will start at

9:00AM sharp. Mass will be offered at 7:30AM in the Domano Chapel for anyone who would like to attend. The morning

will consist of two presentations by Fr. Basil Burns with lunch ending at 1:00 PM. Cost is $30 per person, with childcare

available for $5.00 per child.

2. NEW LIFE IN THE SPIRIT - Acts of the Apostles Scripture Study with Rev. Basil Burns. The next sessions of New Life in

the Spirit will be:

Wednesday, February 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Our Saviour Parish, and

Thursday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Domano Renewal Centre (Emmaus House).

You are invited to attend the session that best suits your schedule. Light refreshments are provided. A suggested donation

of $5.00 per session is requested to help cover costs. For those of you who feel called to a greater community and a deeper

faith life, please come! Newcomers are welcome to attend. Previous sessions of New Life in the Spirit are all available

2. DYC 2018: In the Beginning is coming APRIL 20 - 22: REGISTRATION IS NOW LIVE!! We are excited that Face to Face

MARRIAGE PREPARATION The Diocese of Prince George will be hosting a Marriage Preparation

weekend for couples to be held on May 4 to 6, 2018. It will begin on

Friday evening and conclude on Sunday early afternoon. More

NESS LAKE BIBLE CAMP Do you like details and smile lots? Want to work with an exciting team? Want to have a job that makes a difference in the lives

of hundreds of people? Ness Lake Bible Camp is looking for an office assistant/accountant position. Responsibilities include

overseeing summer and year round registrations, accounting, preparing and tracking budgets, preparing financial statements,

payroll and various office related duties. Experience with MS Office and Sage 50 is an asset. Ideally, you have an accounting

diploma or degree, or are working towards it. This work can qualify for your CPA designation and camp is open to helping

with your continuing education. Great interpersonal skills are needed. This is a full time position - $20/hr. Interested applicants
