Cecilia Espinoza was born in Chile. In 1985 along with her husband, Sam and with their three children they joined the Maryknoll Lay Missioners. They worked on a Maryknoll pastoral team that attended three large rural parishes in the rural southern Diocese of Linares in Chile. Cecilia currently works in NY at the headquarters of Maryknoll Lay Missioners as a Manager of Always a Missioner program and Friend Across Borders.
Cecilia will speak at all Masses at Sacred Heart the weekend of August 12-13 to share her mission experi-ence as a part of the Archdiocesan Mission Cooperative Plan 2017. The second collection will be taken to sup-port Maryknoll Lay Missioners. Your kind welcome and generous support is most appreciated. Maryknoll Lay Missioners is a Catholic organization inspired by the mission of Jesus to live and work with poor communities in Africa, Asia, and the Americas, responding to basic needs and helping to create a more just and compassionate world. FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION
Please join us for First Friday Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on August 4th. It will begin immediately after the Evening Mass from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM, and will conclude
with the Benediction. We invite all our parishioners to join us to our Holy Hour Adoration. Jesus says, “Could you not wait one hour with me? Do you not know that I thirst for your love?” So, please find time to come and stay an hour with God in silent prayer!

TOGETHER IN MISSION COLLECTION
Next weekend, Aug 5th & 6th, we will have a special collection for the 2017 An-
nual Appeal, “Together in Mission”. Unfortunately, we have not met our parish goal yet. We are still short of around $10,000 in payments. Hopefully, we reach our goal by the end of the year. Also, we want to re-mind those who made pledges towards this campaign to send your payments.

Wanted: “QUEEN FOR THE PARISH FIESTA”
Every year, our Parish holds a contest for the “Queen” of Sacred Heart Parish Fiesta. The crown is awarded to the young girl (ages 3-16 yrs old) who sells the most Raffle Tickets for the Parish Festival. The young wom-en who participate in this contest become fundraisers in support of the Fair and promote this worthwhile event with a variety of activities that translate into Par-ish Fair Raffle Ticket sales. During the months prior to the Parish Fair, the Queen Candidates will be hosting a variety of fundraising events – Fellowship Sundays, food sales, etc. The candidate that sells the most Raffle Tickets will win the coveted crown and the title of Sacred Heart Fiesta Queen. Please support these young ladies who are doing so much to help our fiesta be successful! The Queen will be crowned on the Sunday of the Parish Fiesta weekend at 9 PM during a beautiful and exciting ceremony for the contestants as well as the communi-ty. Raffle tickets for the Fiesta are now available. Ticket costs $1. Get your tickets and have the chance to win the grand prize of $1,000.00. For those who return their raffle stubs early, they will have a chance to win a $100 for an “Early Bird” drawing, which will be held on Sunday, August 20th and September 17th, after the 12 noon Mass. All the raffled tickets will be eligible for the main raf-fle during the Festival. If you already have the tickets, please return your raffle stubs and donations to the Parish Office or to the Raffle Team Committee, whom you will find under the Oak Tree on Sundays.

Small fires can escalate quickly, and there is not always time to wait for the fire department. Use the PASS trick to help kids remember what to do: Pull the pin, Aim at the fire’s base, Squeeze the han-dle, Sweep from side to side.
