A Word From Fr. Eckert
Dear Friends,
This weekend, our students preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation are on retreat. The Gospel they will hear proclaimed at Mass is the parable of the prodigal son, from the 15th Chapter of the Gospel of Luke. Most of the students are in their early teenage years, with a lot of life left to live ahead of them. As the years go by, there is a good chance that they will often imitate, in one way or another, both of the sons depicted in the story. At certain points of their life, they will likely reject God, in potentially big or small ways, and take matters into their own hands. At other times, possibly convinced of their own self righteousness, they may refuse to rejoice in the gift of faith and love offered to others. On what basis do I make this prediction? I was a teenager once too, and I can see glimpses of both sons in my past, and I’m sure you can too. The constant throughout the parable is the unflinching love of the Father. Please join me in praying for our Confirmation students, that they may have a profound experience of the love of our Heavenly Father on this retreat. And if any of them, or any of us for that matter, happen to forget that undying love, may we be like the first son and “come to our senses,” get up, and come running back to Him.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. John

Una Palabra de Padre Eckert
Queridos Amigos,

Quizá hayamos ofendido a nuestro prójimo, dado mal ejemplo a alguien, incluso adorado a falsos dioses como dios dinero, dios poder.

Gracias a Dios, ¡somos cristianos!

Mrs. Hurysz's 2nd graders hosted their Annual Marketplace last week. They learned lessons in goods produced, products sold, stock and inventory, marketing, and currency...and they had to create their own products to sell. We had bookmarks, personal artwork, painted rocks, prayer cards, origami art, and balloons all available for a bargain.
Our 4th graders had some fun learning while planning for their writing test essays. Look at all the different ways they can plan their ideas for opinion writing! And also look... NO computers! Teaching outside the box AND the computer. Go Mrs. Frank!! Congrats to 8th grader AJ Flynn who was chosen as one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee NC State Competition. This contest will be held at CPCC in Charlotte on Friday, March 29th. Sacred Heart held its Annual Geography Bee in January 2019. AJ won his 8th grade class competition and then won the school competition (grades 4-8th). From there, he had to take an online NC qualifying test. He did very well and will move forward into the NC State competition.
